Have you made sure that the micro SD card is not too big and formatted properly? You need to just copy the full FUTABA folder into the root directory of the SD card.
The E version of the receiver indicates "Electric only" They are not recommended for any gas/nitro vehicle. Often times, it will look as if the antenna is short, or it might not even have an antenna.
I believe that as long as you have the radio connected to the sbus port of the receiver, you can use power from the esc and have everything plugged in while you do the update. It does take a few minutes to complete, so keep that in mind. The important part to remember is putting the receiver into programming mode.

I'm not sure about that. I did a quick glance over the 4pm manual and I'm not seeing it there or mention of being able to use the 4pm to upgrade the firmware. The instructions for the v5 firmware for the rs334 receiver does not mention any instructions for the 4pm either.
As of now, I don't think so. Really if you are using any sbus features, then the minimum version is 4. The radio has a few features added, but nothing that would really affect the performance. Minimum version for the radio is 7.0 though.
The key is making sure the file structure is exact. Sometimes it takes a few tries. What transmitter are you using? If it's a 4pm. I haven't tried with it. I know on on my 4pm I couldn't even update it from the version 4.00 firmware.

@@yadmah I downloaded software from futaba, copied it to the sd card . Should I unzip the file? Or just copy and paste?
