    We're doing a 125cc TURBO swap!

if you cant turbo 2-strokes, then why do so many people turbo rotarys. i could be stupid but arent those just complicated 2-strokes

  • @philliplock9249

I agree the turbo placement looks awesome, but you'd probably find it more efficient bolting it to the intake. That'll give room for the expansion chamber, while offering instant response.

  • @rileywhittle1512

The thrust bearing inside the turbo requires oil pressure to keep the impeller shaft floating in a film of oil otherwise it contacts and wears

I used to get into 2 stroke rc cars, I would think a bigger expansion chamber would help. You could maybe loose the gasket under the cylinder to get a little more compression (use some goo instead and check the piston isn’t going to touch the top of the cylinder). Not sure how the clutch works in that thing, in the rc cars they were two half’s held by a spring. We would use a heavier spring so the clutch would engage at higher rpm’s. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I can't believe this actually WORKED?! 🤣Should we do a part 2 with boost gauge etc? We need to paint the frame too 🤔

  • @waelal7484

Every engine needs a expansion chamber tuned to its timing and rev range an displacement you can do your search.

    Put nitrous on it

  • @LokiMelb

So good, I saw your thumbnail the other day, so Sunday morning got into the garage and finally welded my LCA to my 50cc drift quad. Still need supports and then chop the frame for the seat. But getting there. Love the tiny turbo!!

A turbo 212cc 4 stroke would be even more insane! And tap a inlet and drain like that go to the bottom of the block in the oil "sump". Since 2 strokes dont have an oil sump, you couldnt get any heat relief from the hot oil inside the turbo. With. 4 stroke you would even be able to add an oil cooler in theory (which would cool the MOTOR down from the high pressure intake AND the turbo). Im surprised it worked using the same fueling as it did with n/a. Wow VERY cool many!!

Good job busting the myth of being able to turbo a 2 smoker. Me and my dad did it to a twin cylinder 440 jag smowmobile about 9yrs ago. It definitely works and definitely makes power! Awesome job man. New sub from me.

Another killer vid mikey!! Cheers mate, looked super fun!

  • @rocketdragon4855

If you'd want to make a 2 stroke exhaust that actually works well, you'd have to use a 2 stroke exhaust "tool"/calculator to get the correct measurements for the exhaust.

  • @kanalagamer

The homemade expansion chamber is not very good because the shape, curve, length and every other factor has to be considered for it to work. They are specially designed so that the exhaust gasses push any remaining fuel from the exhaust back into the cylinder. I suggest you get an expansion chamber of like a 50cc 2-stroke moped and use that. Expansion chambers can like triple the power output at high rpms.

I worked on tiny 2 strokes for years just out of my garage and the biggest and best horsepower upgrades were aluminium motors with bigger carbis top speed 80km an hour with my worked 50cc iron and 95km with the 73cc iron but over 110kmph top speed with aluminium lighter has such a significant effect when so small

  • @chrisdocking9255

Mike lake you savage! Look at how many like this video has!!! Bro I’ve been a sub since the bmw swapped, supercharged Corolla! You have grown my boy and my man I am so proud of you! Don’t stop baby don’t stop! Love from Nz

  • @user-hv6xy7jz9p

Yes you can turbo 2 strokes.. I live in lake havasu city, az, USA and I've turbo charged so many 2 strikes even in the 125f degree weather and they love it. Remember to use a 2 cable throttle cable so it dosent run away from you

  • @Teagan762

Expansion chambers on 2 strokes can't just be guessed at. There as important as tuning a cars ECU. Length of pipe between the carb and chamber, Chamber to turbo and exit. Cool little build. I've built many.

  • @Turbowagon

Very cool looking forward to future progress with this

  • @robertgillin

you can definitely turbo a 2 stroke if your carb is a float bowl type you need to feed boost into the carb vent if its a diaphragm type its not necessary
