The top turned out beatifully edgy & elegant at the same time. I keep buying tops that are too big thinking that I'll make them smaller. I think I'll try buying smaller & making them bigger with contrasting sides. There's no such thing as clothes that actually fit me, otherwise. That's why I love your tutorials.

I've always been too scared & end up making a tube for it which looks a bit amateur. After lockdown I got two very pretty dresses which were way too small in the bodice but we're perfect to turn into skirts. Also your tip about the tail thing in the overlocker 👍👌 well the skirt looks lovely on you and you made a great job of the jumper too. Well done. It's in excellent condition but has a skull on the front and its a wee bit too tight. I'm thinking of some kind of applique for the front, but I loved your lace insert to make it bigger and more feminine. In the last couple of weeks I've watched a bunch of your videos and I absolutely love how you teach and inspire. I'm gathering the courage to get sewing again after many years of not sewing. Just a necklace or two for color, you could do pearls white or colored, like a pink one or coral, mother of pearl, etc.Experiment. That sweater is great! I almost want one, but I don't like anything that close to my neck, too hot. Looks great with the skirt. Fun!

I love the jumper that’s come out gorges I have a few tops of Mom’s that I kept for doing something like that as they were Mom’s so I just wanted them as a cuddle reminder of her. The lace inserts and a nice touch. I have a few old lace tops I don’t wear anymore but just have not been able to let go😹😹 will see if they will look good as a combo. I have turned many a dress into skirts that I have bought over the years, I feel more at home in skits and tops than dresses but sometimes I just fall in love with a dress and so I buy it and change it so I can wear as a skirt and either a little jacket or keep the top half as inserts for other projects or use to add pockets to the skirt.
I just discovered your channel! Thank you so much for your videos! I sew, but tailoring is a different matter. Not anymore! Because of your videos, I was able to take my favorite dress and resize it to fit after I lost 20 lbs. I am going to do more upcycling now and remake my entire wardrobe. Thank you, Catherine! I guess I got over my fear when I used to work for a high-end designer. I had to cut into fabrics that were hundreds of dollars per metre! Sometimes I couldn't bear to watch myself do it, lol!

I have been living in Melbourne Aus for 20 years the non creative dark city of Aus. Crushed me to have my glowing colours in natural fabrics…like watermelon pink cashmere with gold buttons escada jacket 20 years ago which elicited sneers from the black polyesters around.Just seeing you is thin edge of 5he wedge for recovery. Bottom line, just sewing together bits that fit works. I have big swatches of Linton tweed fabrics..samples..the fabrics used by Chanel, thinking of doing some interesting putting together. As well too small cashmeres and suchlike are plentiful on thrift on eBay or shop. The input shapes are lovely over sleeve cap and neck.
Haha, everytime I tried that turtleneck on is was like being suffocated with a fuzzy pillow! It wasn't until the very end that I could pull it on comfortably. What a relief!
You are amazing. I sew. But this kind of recreating is stressful to me. I’m going to binge watch all your videos and see if I can muster up the courage to try some clothing editing.

If you butt the ends of the elastic together over a small piece of material you will illuminate the small bump from the overlap.
Yes, I think this works well when the elastic is going into a casing, but when it is exposed like this, what would you do with the raw ends?
