  • @lfoggy3061

    Very interesting video, thank you.
    One factor that is rarely if ever considered in domestic espresso makers is energy use. Say you switch on your Slayer, let it heat up, make two cups of coffee, then turn it off immediately. In doing so you will be heating 4.4 litres of water from 20 to 120 degrees C, plus the water to make the coffee and steam the milk. The system is not 100% efficient or insulated and there will be energy losses, so a rough calculation suggests this will take 1kWh of electricity or 0.5kWh per cup. That a lot of energy to make a small cup of coffee. A Tesla Model 3 typically has a battery capacity of 50kWh or 100 cups of coffee...
    Obviously in a commercial setting the energy cost per cup falls dramatically due to the economies of scale.

  • @samfarina

    Beautiful machine. Looks suuuuper high build quality. Love the steam/water handle. Profiling paddle looks amazingly smooth and looks like a hand made chefs knife in build. But. The Bianca V3 has programmable profiling and the decent is THE programmable profiler. Neither are as beautiful, but you could buy almost two of each for the price of this machine. But as always, glad you found the one! While I was also an early admirer of the Bianca, your reviews sealed the deal for me over others, including the Decent. Paying my respects and gratitude to yours!

    • @KyleRowsell
      @KyleRowsell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate this comment. Thanks for the kind words. Can’t argue there… there are better flow profiling machines. But I have a Bianca, and a flair 58 etc. for me it was about ease of use, build quality and repeatability. The ability to use this commercially was also a big draw.
      All the best!

    It's really a nice machine and I can easily see why people are into it. For myself I couldn't justify the power consumption of this for a home user. Heating 5L of water for a few shots a day is a bit overkill. That's also one part why the decent is so great. But no hate. Everyone has different preferences and what your heart desires isn't always rational.

  • @jaybumify
    @jaybumify 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just got my single group Slayer set up today. Can’t wait to start the profiling experience. Quick question…does your machine constantly make a heating sound to keep it at the your set brew temperature? It almost sounds like the espresso machine is breathing and wasn’t sure if that’s a normal thing for it to do.

    • @KyleRowsell
      @KyleRowsell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that’s completely normal. That’s the boiler as the pid constantly adjusts temperature to sustain temp consistency

    I felt sad when I had to say goodbye to my Mocha pots because my new flat is electric and all previous homes were gas and I don't cook with electric and don't want the electric bill just for a Mocha coffee, so I'm using my 'Slayer' french press,'n gettin' pretty good at steepin'. Might get an ezypress (sic) hand grinder when I transition out from s/market beans with a spice grinder. Which are best lukewarm to hot, with a cold water chaser. There's always a bigger fish, though probably not in your case.

    Hey Kyle, as much as I enjoy your Bianca videos which played no small part in my decision to buy one - which I’m still VERY much in LOVE with, and it got my 17 year old daughter into playing with it too (though mostly for faffing with latte art!) - I totally understand you’ve got to move on, if for no other reason than to keep the content on here fresh. Let’s face it, most of us Bianca owners would have looked at the Slayer before buying (if only to choke and cough at the price tag!) and might of gone down that route if money was no object. Really look forward to seeing your review, as I must confess I don’t really understand quite how the flow control / preinfusion that you mentioned works, or how it differs to the Bianca. Just don’t rub our noses in it when you are gloating with pride over your fancy pants, expensive machine … (LOL) … and I’m glad to hear you didn’t part with your Bianca. I figure that, if you’re serious about all this shit, your coffee machines are gonna end up like guitars for guitarists who NEVER part with a favourite guitar, unless they REALLY have to, and either way they’ll end up spending the rest of their lives regretting it and wondering what if …
