Sam, another fantastic review video! MDX Type S is bye far the best version yet from Acura. Bold, aggressive, stylish, and loaded with standard features. The adjustable air ride suspension and massaging seats are and absolute gift! The 3.0L V6 Turbo along with the 10 speed auto work seamlessly together and the sound system immerses you with this fabulous harmony of ear pleasing audio when the engines exhaust note is not present. Two terrific vehicles, perhaps targeted at different audiences - one for complete opulence, the other to the sportier more playful side? Volvo is however impressive with the kind of power it delivers out of a small 4 Cyl powerplant, but I wonder what kind of strain 5,200LBS will put on that over time? I'd have to give the nod to Acura for the proven reliability track record and available service locations inclusive of Honda Dealerships over all. In this case the more modern, sporty and menacing look of the MDX wins my vote! Now flip on those massaging seats and enjoy the years of reliable ownership!

Hi Sam. Good comparison video between the Acura MDX Type S and the Volvo XC90 T8. Between these two vehicles I would choose the Acura MDX Type S. It has more practicality over the XC90, costs less whoever buys it will get more for the money spent.
I appreciate your honesty Sam. I would personally pick the MDX Type S over this T8 XC90, but I might struggle a bit vs the non-hybrid T6 since they're both at the same price point and performance. I love the XC90 design and I find it timeless even as some here think it looks dated. And I would prefer the MDX more if Honda replaced the infotainment cluster with a more intuitive system. But I think that's already in the works. The only other thing I'd change in the MDX is the color. Tiger pearl or blue exterior with the red interior. Btw Sam at 16:55, you can control the rear climate by selecting 'rear' tab at the top.
Correction on the Volvo, the air suspension isn't just for the rear. There's settings options located in the menu in the screen, although not many but there.
As long as you know what button you need and you know where it is, just push it. Touch screens will take your eyes off the road before you push it. This is soooo simple, but people will complain just to complain about something. If that touch screen decides to go out then your screwed.
In person, the Volvo feels more premium, luxurious and high end. Headroom in third row is much better in the Volvo. The driver seats are in a different league. Volvo makes the most comfortable front row seats of anything on the market. I wish Volvo made an office chair. The wood and metal covered materials in the Volvo just feels more premium to the touch.
I have an MDX Type S. Love it. The infotainment is way better than the reviewers say it is. I am not a fan of touch screen because of distraction and finger prints.
I want to love the Volvo and I feel like they hit so many targets just perfect but they also missed out on so many others. I wish they would have focused more on reliability and putting a nicer engine like one of their straight 6 engines in the XC90 or even their sedans. For me the MDX is so much better. The MDX’s drivetrain just takes the cake for me.
Volvo dropped their 5 and 6 cylinder engines years ago. No SPA Volvo has anything more than a 4 cylinder engine in it. tbh, electric cars offer more smoothness and quiet than ICE cars and that's where Volvo is going: all electric.

There’s no way those cargo capacity numbers for the Volvo are correct. It’s not 25% larger than the MDX and elsewhere I’ve read more like 15/30 cubic feet of space.
