I still remember going to the movie theater to watch this and being blown away. Everything from the lighting to the music were really well done. I became a huge Ryan Gosling fan because of this film.

"Drive" is one of my favorite movies. Such a deep character study. It just sticks with me after so many years. Also, had one of the best soundtracks for a movie. "Collateral" is another good one. It's kind of crazy how similar our tastes our in things.

It's funny how the role that has the least dialogue lines, is the one that pushes Ryan Gosling's acting to the max. It's really remarkable how he managed to express so much by saying so little, it goes to show what a incredible actor he is.

11:50 He is the flog he literally carry the scorpion on his back, but that is the beauty of the movie it works if he is either the frog or the scorpion. He is the driver he carry criminals from point a to point b, he is the frog, the criminals are the scorpions and by the end he drown in their world with them. This movie is so good on many levels :)

I remember this movie got a lot of flack when it came out. People were expecting a racing movie and instead got this. I enjoyed it and what i love about the movie is the soundtrack, cinematography and storyline. It’s starting to get cult following but i feel like in the next decade it will pick up a lot. I can see people enjoying this movie in 2031 in a futuristic home with the amazing soundtrack playing in the background.

Would Shame 2011 by Steve McQueen count as sigma male or more likely, not? And that film Shame has Irene's actor (Carey Mulligan) Also, Nicolas Winding Refn is based Danish (like my first name which is just Dane, but I'm not actually Danish but I like danish cookies and pastry) arthouse/art film male and he was in Kojima's Death Stranding for character model or/and voice maybe. Arthouse films need more exposure like von Trier's House That Built Jack, His trilogy of Nymphomaniac, Antichrist, and Melancholia (not in that order) or the Europa series by Trier.
Run Lola Run would be an interesting hour and a half movie to review. I like the sci-fi time concept and emotions and visual stylistic flourishes/touches used to convey the main female character's confusion, spiraling, slight despair and the manic energy the film has and her dilemma of trying to save her boyfriend/lover but she needs money and time.
Then, time or fate if you like, has other plans and is like nope denied, you must do it differently or morally, Lola Insightful and good review of great arty film, RealSchnozRyan!
Edit: I also think The Card Counter (2021) could be a potential candidate for sigma males films. Oscar Isaac is there as the protagonist too so there's that bonus and is based ofc. It would be great to hear your thoughts on his character and his choices and view on redemption and revenge since that's what this film is but slightly more complex. It kind of wears its themes and messages on the theme but I think it was a good choice on the director or writer's part
The Mechanic/Machinist with Christian Bale is good arty, psychological horror film that has twists, but I don't
think it qualifies as sigma male film.
Edit 2: Gosling is akin to a based autistic or adhd, hyperactive neuro-diverse stoic loner man loner wolf archetype. Idk if that's true to/in life for him but it's really that kind of energy and vibe he exudes and exerts when he acts in most of the films he stars in or produces. His characters
are stoic yet pained and lonely or ambitious and soft-spoken and strong and brave at times.
Edit 3: Into the Wild 2007 by Sean Penn based on the book and tragic story of one male's trek into the wilderness and cold might be good on your list to sometime see and review and analyze. Maybe that fits into sigma male category even if in real life, despite the single fact it ended tragically or was ill-fated journey for Emile Hirsch's (even if he's a real life delinquent or questionable person in addition to being an actor. he's good or underrated as actor) character that he plays and its story is based off of true events which makes it even more eerie and painful and personal and somewhat artful.
American Made, Collateral, Killer Joe, Donnie Darko, NIGHTCRAWLER (with the artful and charismatic uniquely, Jake Gylenhaal from Donnie Darko. His character in there is obsessive, socially inept or asocial or even antisocial and detail-oriented and demanding and dictatorial at his filmmaking role and job looking at and reviewing gory, sordid and dark brutal acts of human darkness and corruption) are brutal gory, violent and action films, but maybe not necessarily sigma grind-set or category worthy.
Edit 4: The Grey, HEAT (same director as Collateral), Trance (2013/2014), BONE TOMAHAWK (underrated, underappreciated/
under-the-radar black comedy horror psychological drama film and director),
The Fighter 2010 (this is pretty brutal and introspective and less focused on the fights but you do see some, it's personal too because actor Mickey Rourke kind of felt like this with his career and because he is/was a fighter or wrestler or boxer), PI, and The Fountain all by Darren Aronofsky, Severance (more comedy and satire though than
the next one) and Triangle by another director an english one,
    Jacob's Ladder which partly inspired
the game Silent Hill, The Descent (first one not the awful second one) by Neil Marshall, DEADMAN SHOES (tragic horror 'slasher' which is a term I use loosely, drama Brit film. you might cry or become cynical after watching this film. it's ****** brutal and needs to be talked about more. holy f****), Pulse/Kairo (the based OG Kairo and is also Japanese version, not the crap american remake which is just called pulse or the pulse; it might make you feel alienated or even somewhat nostalgic), Vivarium with Jess Eisenberg, etc.
**Note: Just watch the reviews and analysis of horror and drama thriller films by yotuuber Ryan Hollinger who I sometimes watch to discover these films in the first place.
