Although the gunship could use a better figure selection and maybe a few more things I am just glad Lego is making clone wars era stuff again.

new AT-TE was an upgrade over the previous one while the gunship is a downgrade to the previous one
The gunship needed more figures

I was talking to a friend about the gunship and one thing I said is I would have honestly preferred 2 more troopers over the padme and palpatine
One more shock trooper and a red phase 2 pilot would have made the set even better!

AT-TE and it's NOT close. The red gunship is too niche sorry, I really wanted the more iconic white one. In that case it's a good debate, but like this AT-TE hands down for me. I might not even buy this Gunship just because it's red. I was reeeaally looking forward to get a minifig scale LAAT...

I love the positivity and energy you brought to the video. You pointed out the flaws and inaccuracies of each set , but didn’t let it destroy your entire view of the two. You’re right, both sets are awesome I can’t wait to add them to my collection!
As someone who didn't go into a dark age in my teen years, I'm lucky enough to have the previous iterations of these sets, but it does make me happy to see both vehicles available simultaneously again.

Me feeling ancient remembering being a kid when the OG AOTC set came out and then a tween for the Clone Wars one and then a teen when the third gunship/ATTE sets came out.
If the Gunship had at least 1 or 2 more clones it would be alright but for one its downsized, and its more expensive so the AtTe is the winner imo

The gunship could have come with a at least a clone pilot but either way the set’s are both a W
And a special clone pilot helmet that is not a reused Phase 1 helmet like the old ones.

I’m not sure about anybody else but I work at target and right now if you buy the AtTe through drive up it’s discount 20% off already but if you work at target and have a red card, u can get it for $105 dollars.
I rarely buy Lego Star Wars sets, and when I do it's simply for the parts.
But of these two, I will absolutely go for the AT-TE.
Simply because it has more bits I can use for my Classic Space MOCs.

My favorite part about buying sets, especially large ones, is sorting them into my Bins for later use.
I love the new gunship but yeah i wish it had more side builds like a bacta tank or a prison vault, or since its the coruscant guard floodlights to attach to the sides
LEGO minifigures are not human proportioned, and as a result scaling real world objects relative to normal humans down to minifigure scale is an inexact science.
A Typical human has a height to waist-diameter ratio of ~5:1. Minifigures meanwhile have a height to waist-diameter ratio of 2.5:1. This gives them a height to waist ratio of approximately a 600lb person who stands 5' tall.
As a result the scale of vehicles relative to minifigures is extremely variable. You can scale to the minifigure's waist (i.e. their widest part) and this will produce a vehicle that more closely seats the correct amount of people. This is approximately a 1/30 scale.
Alternatively you can scale to a minifigure's height, which will produce a vehicle that doesn't easily or even possibly fit the correct amount of minifigures, but which doesn't draw attention to their relative shortness. this is approximately 1/45
Or you can scale anywhere in between.
Also, custom heads, such as Chewbacca or Spongebob, will affect these dimensions and further complicate scaling.
Some fun facts: only 75309, 75192, 75313, and 10179 actually fall within the 1/30-1/45 scale window, all other LEGO Star Wars sets are either too large or too small to technically be within "minifigure scale" (and Chewbacca being in 75192 and 10179 complicates that fact too since he's not even remotely the same scale). Which really just highlights how insanely massive Star Wars ships are, that sets like 75060 are still technically "too small".
Also despite what you might think, dwarf spider droids did appear in the battle of utapau, more so than the crab droid that everyone seems to be obsessed with.
No the dwarf spider droid was nowhere to be seen on Utapau you’re getting confused with the octuptara droid. Plus we always get dwarf spider droids they’re super redundant so why couldn’t they just put something new in it

I want crab droids and other separatist droids in my army too, so i designed and built a crab droid, retail droid and octuptarra droid, which wasn’t easy, but it beats waiting a long time for the slightest chance of lego making the more obscure droid models.

Very nice to see an actually good review for a Lego Star Wars set👍 Compared the sets fairly, and have valid reasons for and against both. No nitpicking and it doesn’t turn into a 10min rant video about minor errors or movie inaccuracies. Also this is the first person I’ve heard that mention how lucky we are to have these 2 sets in the first place. Keep up the good work yo! 🤙
the at-te the republic gunship kinda sucks in my opinion only the minifigures are cool
For me they're both good because they both have clones and a updated commander . Yes they're expensive but oh well its life you. If you want something cheaper buy a action figure from black series hasbro. Also you can't have a AT-TE without a Gunship .
I like both, but if I had to pick one it'll be the republic gunship. Sure the accuracy is a little off, but I feel it would compensate for its lack of accuracy and credibility. I would grab 2 gunships and make a comparison. Needless to say, I would definitely display it as a whole. Either way the corresont guard gunship is cool by my standards
Apart from the weird looking clone helmets (helmet holes + inaccurate prints) the AT-TE is the perfect set.

I mean figures wise I’d say it’s equal. The walker has a great Cody figure with a pretty good gunner but then has 212th troopers with atrocious helmets. While the gunship has a great palpatine and shock troopers, despite the helmet holes, an ok padmè and a war crime of a commander fox figure
Tbh, the Gunship is definitely cool but it needed maybe 1 more shock trooper (and part of Mr thinks it could've actually used a Senate Commando since it's makes logical sense for one to be guarding the Chancellor.) Figs are nice but seriously, the all white arms, just lazy, easily could've made some parts of the arm red to match how they look in-universe. And also, those wing turrets, those look goofy as hell, good for kids, but for collectors or those who would use them for MOCs, it's just kinda odd. And with the AT-TE, while pretty good it does have some flaws such as, obvious is the helmet holes and they should've made the holes on the circles on the side of their helmet as it would make it look more accurate (and before anyone says "But the customization!" That's true but keep in mind the set doesn't come with any other antenna or visor pieces, and as far as I'm aware during the battle, didn't seem like any 212th troopers had any visors or antennas besides Cody from what we could see.) It would've also been nice for them to replace one of the normal 212th troopers with an airborne (considering they do have the helmet mold for that which they did with Windus troopers.) And also it would've been slightly more accurate for, instead of a spider droid they had a crab droid since it fits better. And also yeah, not to mention just the plain white arms cause me pain.

AAAAAAAAHHH IM GOING MENTAL, the old gunship is more size accurate, some guy on reddit i think did the calculations with minifigs and the closest one is the 2013 one, does no one look at gunships? Theyre huge!
The red slab of crap is “interesting”, however it’s not the “original”… it’s like a spin off.

A true Lego set is a “playable” one.
AT-TE is better, gives more and BETTER figs and is basically a battle pack and large, accurate, vehicle packed with features all in one.
Incredible set.
Gunship is big, red, inaccurate, with much worse figures and barely has any features to speak of.

I honestly couldn’t care less about the inaccuracies with the gunship I’ve always wanted one. And the fox doesn’t bother me either idk why so many people make a fuss about it. The 140 price tag is the only thing bothering me. I would’ve liked it to be like 110 or somthing

I think they should’ve gone for the 104th wolf pack gunship and bring back Plo Koon along with a phase 2 Wolffe but this set is great there’s just a couple of drawbacks I have with it and it’s the same as everyone else
I feel like play feature wise the AT-TE takes the cake by a mile but looks wise the GUNSHIP takes the cake by a mile

I dislike the play-scale models of the ghost. Personally, it doesn't feel like a model of the thing, more like a toy. Yes Lego is a toy, and I have no issue with play-scale sets existing, they're just not my cup of tea. What would be really cool is a diorama of the cockpit
I can't speak for the Gunship because I don't have 1 yet, but I love the AT-TE. It was so cool I had to buy another after i finished building the first 1.

The AT-TE is much better designed than the Gunship. You also get more figures and Cody beats Fox in quality massively.

atte since the gunship has more shelve time so you can save up for the gunship since the atte win retire before the gunship.

Also accuracy wise the gunship is missing the bubble turrets on the wings of the gunship. That is one accuracy issue to point out. Also another accuracy issue is the doors and on top of that the fox really needs a waist cape so for me the ATTE has to be the better and more accurate set in my opinion.
I was confused about the Bible turrets too but if you look up corrisant guard gunship non lego it has no ball turrets either
there are two in-universe models of the gunship- one model with the bubble turrets and monolithic door, and one model with no bubble turrets and bifurcating doors. IIRC the former is for atmospheric use, and the latter is for space use
@@jerome3941 there is another LAAT modification. In the Clone Wars in the seventh season, in the ninth episode, hybrid modification LAAT is shown in the first minutes: with bifurcating doors and bubble turrets

This gunship doesnt have any bubble turrets in the show. Why does everyone say it should have them?
Every single iteration of the LAAT/i has automated spherical turrets on the wings. The Clone Wars gunships don't have the bubble turrets that can seat clones and attach in front of the doors.
