The thing I like about Dumbledore being gay is that it wasn't shoved in our face as if to make a point of it. I think what's brilliant about it is that it makes Dumbledore not being with someone and his relationship with Grindlewald seem that much sadder. Dumbledore probably really liked his friend and his friend probably just used him. Dumbledore was a great wizard and he turned such a blind eye to Grindlewald's evil deeds until finally things were getting so bad that he had no choice but to confront him. I wonder how sad it must have been when *spoiler* Arianna died and Dumbledore thought that maybe it was his friend who killed her. I mean it just seems so sad that how much he loved the guy left him alone.
I think the lack of disclosure had a lot to do with laws in the UK at the time. Thatcher had laws through that prevented gay couples from being represented in 'children's' books. This was still in effect when JK Rowling was writing Harry Potter.

Dumbledore being gay . . . That really makes sense. I mean, it explains him always being alone and how he didn't see the bad in Grindelwald. Wow . . . It's kind of surprising how well it fits. :D
everybody accepts the fact that he's a wizard, being able to do crazy stuff and fight against voldemort like a boss. but not everybody's okay with him being gay?! WTF!!
Simply disagreeing with a certain type of lifestyle isn't homophobic. Why, I know many people that are gay that come from deeply religious families and their families may not agree with them because they do not understand it, but they are definitely not hated or dismissed. Of course I know that's not always the case, but I'm sure my point is easy is grasp.
I'm very proud of this fact. That at least someone isn't afraid to make a character gay or be afraid that people are gay. I just feel like everyone is making it a bigger deal than it is. So what, one gender can be in love with the same as themselves. I'm very proud of this.
"afraid" ....you dumb cunt, why would they be afraid if it's completely normal to make gay characters IN EVERY SINGLE MOVIE AND EVERY SINGLE TV SHOW... This shit ain't new. It's pathetic and lazy writing. Him being gay came OUT OF NOWHERE
Yes Sir! Well, since you are "asexual" you literally can't understand people who are not, how they process things, how they behave etc, just like some non-aexual people can't understand you, because you're not like them. So stop judging. If you weren't asexual you'd act like them so yeah. And I don't even know what parties or tv shows you're talking about lmao No offence, but it sounds like you have no social life whatsoever and therefore have this sort of paranoia/obsession about things, like sexuality. Man, go out, relax and have fun. And the kind of behaviour of this woman isn't low. The books were already the best selling books of all times, so this obviously wasnt a publicity stunt. She said Dumbledore is gay bc that's what made him do the things he did when he was younger: he fell in love with this young man who happened to be evil, and because Dumbledore was blinded by love he did bad things too. Since you're "asexual" and homophobic, I guess you can't understand this (btw "asexual" my ass, I'm sure you just have some mental/social issues and can't get laid and you have locked yourself in your own safe bubble, but deep inside you're miserable. I genuinely hope you get better). What is low though, is the fact that you call people fag, even after calling yourself asexual, which is probably the most unnacepted sexuality of all and yet you discriminate homosexuals. That just shows the kind of guy you are. Sad, indeed. Now if someone insults you for being asexual, you deserve it.
It was surprising to me just because he's, well, DUMBLEDORE. I just never really pictured him having a sex life. He was always this omniscient, grandfatherly character. While him being gay was definitely unexpected, I think it adds an interesting layer to his character
It's hilarious that homophobic people have grown to love Dumbledore as a character over the years and now that he's gay they have to hate him on principle.
+Mia Larsson Because he hide it from people thats why. He should have said in the first book when he appeared first time, and declare his gayness. and then see who many children would continue to read the books

I don't know why but watching one of the most iconic fictional characters in history talking to its creator feels so good. In here Daniel looks fresh out of filming the series, he looks exactly like when he played Harry Potter in the last few films. It's so cool, I don't know if anyone can understand how I'm feeling.
"Before publication of Philosopher's Stone... I knew he was gay" Yet there are people who still claimed "Rowling was bullied to make a gay character to fit the gay agenda... Bla bla bla..." *Although she got bullied for not referring Dumbledore's sexual orientation in the book after the revelation, despite as she said, it's not relevant enough to the main story."*
How would she even bring it up? He never had a love interest and I’m pretty sure headmasters don’t talk about their sexuality with their students, and the books are based in the 90’s where homosexuality wasn’t accepted, I doubt the publishers would let her put it in the books even if she tried because of all the backlash from bigoted parents yelling about how it was corrupting their kids.
@@NukeCaulfield afraid of Twitter? Since when she's afraid of Twitter 🤣. Moreover, the revelation of Dumbledore's sexuality was in 2007 during an interview when someone asked about Dumbledore's love interest, Rowling joined Twitter a few years after that. If it happened in 2017, I would probably agree but as the timeline shows, I don't think your deduction is correct. She chose to reveal it herself, not because someone asked her "Is there any gay character in the series?"
The point ppl should see is whether ppl are gay, straight, watever, shouldn't matter to the story. Ppl shouldn't be pitied or treated differently based on sexual preference.
If they ever do a spinoff for Grindelwald and Albus Dumbledore, I really hope they make it so that Albus Dumbledore is clearly the leader of the two. He is the one who is pushing down a dark path and Grindelwald is aware but follows along and finally betrays his best friend. And then Albus Dumbledore has to redeem himself by restoring order to the wizarding world and facing Grindelwald after he has done what DUmbledore could not, unleash the true powers of the deathly hallows
they should name it fantastic beasts and make sure there’s 3 parts. i’m thinking.. fantastic beasts and where to find them.. uh.. maybe the crimes of grindelwald? and it should be ended by exposing dumbledores secrets.
emi the part where he went to the mirror and saw Grindelwald and himself holding hands gave me shivers tbh. I was like ‘oh yeah...there it is’ 😫😍 I hope they get together in the third one.
I don't think it feels forced, it suits his character. He has always written as a deeply empathetic but isolated person. Knew he was a fruit when I heard him talking about knitting patterns lol. Not the biggest fan of the later Fantastic Beast films but I'm glad it wasn't just a one-off and actually played into the character's story.
I love that dumbledore is gay, that's great! It just makes me really appreciate the books even more! Especially because it's almost unheard of to have gay major characters in a fantasy book.
@@lapurdy71 well its relevant bc it adds more depth to him as a character..... If he was afraid of not being accepted as gay by others in the wizarding world, he would work hard to help others that face discrimination, prejudice, and abuse from society (ie. magical creatures, muggle-borns, students with disabilities, innocent people who were accused of crimes, those who were reptant of their crimes, etc..... So actually it adds to his character
On a different note: Ever notice that all the men that Dumbledore had "an eye on" become evil wizards? First Grindelwald Then Voldemort What if Harry becomes evil as he grows up, disillusioned by the world, and Ron becomes the new MC and has to fight his best friend, the boy who lived too long and became the evil he had sworn to fight. I'd be interested in a story like that, tbh They could even do it with the OG cast. Doesn't even need to be canon.
I didn't know about Dumbledore is gay until my brother told me But I want everyone to know that this is not gonna change how I see him Albus Dumbledore is always gonna be my favorite character weather gay or straight
I like how she is a very clever writer in the sense that she doesn't feel the need to shove irrelevant details to the story which suspends believably in a story. And I see this happen in movies so often especially when a character is gay, they feel the need to spit it out so the dumb audience realizes. It's very important to be subtle in storytelling in my opinion because it's just more fun for the reader to try a little and think about the story for themselves. P.S.: However she's kind of stupid for believing in fake news and going on twitter to make herself look like an ass (pewdiepie's "scandal")
I'm going to put a positive comment because I scrolled over recent comments and disliked the reactions: Dumbledore is awesome. Being gay doesn't change his awesome personality. Being gay doesn't change the view of the story plot. Although certain people have this stereotype in mine that Dumbledore is weak because he's gay, I believe (and I think many other good people in the world would agree with me) that Dumbledore is an old yet strong character who executes his moves within a plan with such swiftness and he encourages students to be brave, wise, and free. Dumbledore faces his foes with strong bravery and is willing to die to save the greater good of the world. Anyone who thinks he's "not an Alpha male" just because of his sexual preference should come out of the rock that they've lived in and learn the world more closely. A real man would sacrifice for those he loves and face his fears and foes head on, regardless of whatever gender he prefers romantically.
Calixtus 😡.....are you implying that homosexuals are not, in a sense, more impressive and intense as a character? Look, fact of the matter is that you can't change the original author's idea and call it fact. J.K. Rowling is a great writer who created everything that is awesome in Hogwarts, including Dumbledore. Liking same genders does not weaken your image. People who think it does are either weak deep down inside....or possible jerks/bullies when they were in high school.
Veronica Jacobe I'd have to agree with Calixtus, only because homosexuality, and homosexuals by extension, is inextricably linked with the gender of the sex they aren't. For example, gay men give an aura of femininity, which when contrasted with the qualities we assume to be masculine, does not give off the same sort of power and intensity. You don't honestly expect me to believe you see Dumbledore as a particularly 'powerful' figure, do you? Extroardinary, Collected, Talented, yes. But powerful - Dumbledore doesn't want power. He avoids it. Otherwise he would have done what Voldemort had tried to do. I'm not saying I think Dumbledore's sexual orientation matters, because honestly when I heard that I was not at all surprised - and the fact that I wasn't surprised about Dumbledore being gay sort of surprises me, if you know what I mean. That's becaue homosexuality is not normal. Look, society can argue about it all they want, but the definition of normal is that the vast majority of people do/are something, which means homosexuality isn't normal. Not enough people are gay for it to be normal. Is it wrong? I don't think so. But I don't think that you can genuinely expect the vast majority of people to not freak out over this, because to a lot of people this is a big deal. This is the type of character that one puts their trust in and learns to be comfortable around, and then Rowling throws this gigantic curveball by making something about Dumbledore extremely uncomfortable to deal with for a lot of people. The gayness of Dumbledoremakes some people especially uncomfortable due to his position as the headmaster of school and his relationship with Harry Potter, who happens to be a young boy for the entire series. It makes people think, and a lot of people are taken aback by what this might imply. It
***** Although I may agree with you on the few terms that a vast majority may not be homosexual and others may be uncomfortable with the change, I do believe that homosexuality is normal in this world as a natural sense (even though there are many people out there that think homosexuality is not natural). So, I'm trying to say that heterosexual and homosexual beings are both a part in nature. Having said that, Dumbledore is indeed a fictional character in a wonderful children's story. However J.K. Rowling puts it, even though she put a shocker for Dumbledore to be gay in public, she indeed planned that character to have this sense of power as a human being, not because of gender status. Which is why I was trying to prove simply that Dumbledore is a powerful wizard who doesn't need so much power because he has some empathy in him to control a certain amount of power. He's a simple wise man with magical powers. I don't think that him liking men belittles his character or makes him less strong as a wizard or main character in the story of Harry Potter. So in my general opinion, I just believe and trust in a wise man who is homosexual and shows empathy more... rather than in a man who portrays masculinity and shows no weakness.
So she says it's possible to spot something in the books? Damn it, now I'm gonna have to read them all in English (not just because of Dumbledore being gay, there's something about reading the original material that wasn't touched by any translator, I don't know why I still haven't).
+Anna Grimm I didn't read them till after I heard about Dumbledore being gay, and when I did, I could see the hints all through the books, and I can see what Rowling means by, "As time went on and I got to know Dumbledore, I just knew he was gay."
If you're rereading, please read the chapter where Harry meets Dumbledore in limbo. There when Dumbledore speaks of Grindelwald a kind of pain, disappointed and regret is sensed in his words. He admits to be charmed by Grindelwald. That sort of emotion cannot exist just because of friendship, something else had to be there.
I don't care that he's gay I still love him. That ain't going to change how much I've come to love him as a character it's just him. I have to say Jude Law in fantastic beasts 2 stole the show completely and Jude Law is just gorgeous
First chapter of the first book when Dumbledore is bringing baby Harry to Aunt Petunia’s, he is described as wearing high heel boots. HOW DID I NOT NOTICE
Not every man who wears high-heeled boots is gay. They were thing for men long before they were for women - an old man wearing high heels is more about class and eccentricity than sexuality. It shows he's old-fashioned and is well-off, and can dress how he pleases without having to fit in or care what people think.
2 minutes after watching this me and my friend were playing something with Harry Potter and she’s says “Hey since Dumbledore likes Mgonagle these two people could be them!” And then I say “ Uh.. Dumbledores gay.” ;-;
I think the book implies a relationship between Grindelwald and Dumbledore It might be, might not be, in the end it's one of those things that is truly up to the reader to interpret Though the book implies it quite a bit I think that's different from a character who is described as being gay after the work has been completed, and with no reason to believe that
This video is from 10 years ago, but in the most recent (i think) fantastic beasts movie, Dumbledore says something referring to Grindelwald. He said exactly this: “Because I was in love with you”. At the time I thought either one of two things was happening: 1, Dumbledore was legitimately in love with Grindelwald or 2, he was in love with Grindelwald’s plan. Both seemed possible for Dumbledore and tbh, I though kind of both were occurring. Anyway, that’s just want I was thinking
"very few writers stay with their characters for so long." Try adding 10 years Eichiiro Oda (One Piece, 25 years), Gosho Aoyama (Detective Conan, 25 years), Trey Parker & Matt Stone (South Park, 25 years). Or even longer: Akira Toriyama (Dr Slump, 35 years; Dragon Ball, 30 years). Just saiyan 🤷♂️
I mean, she can sit there and says she knows her characters because she's worked on them for 17 years... ...but that may not necessarily mean she *knows* her characters; now I know that sounds silly, but hear me out. She consistently goes about molding what happens to each character through her books, and then she writes Deathly Hallows, where she kills off multiple characters, as well as finally culminates Ron and Hermione's relationship to each other. ...Later, she's interviewed, where she reveals she "made a mistake" in not only killing off certain characters, but that Hermione probably should've ended up with Harry, and that she should've written it thus. We're talking about a love-interest she wrote in-depth about for books 4, 5, 6, and finally in 7, and even throughout all that time, writing, molding the characters-- after all that, she still believes she should've written it differently, even though she supposedly "knew" her characters. That's why, when she made the claim that "Dumbledore is gay", I'm not so terribly certain that such a claim is really set in stone, let alone relevant or even necessary to make at all. It seems more like a politically-driven or socially-driven move on her part. That's my opinion, at least.
Pretty much until 7 maybe 6 who the trio would end up with could still have gone either way, what she wrote until that point was a friendship, not a love interest but that's still very different. There we're talking about the developing story that's taking place and in terms of the relationship it's stuff that isn't really that important, with Dumbledore we're talking about the past and the building blocks for the character and who he is also as far as I can tell she's only regretted killing 1 character. Saying sorry she killed them is not saying that it was a mistake
I love that J.K. just confirmed that Albus was in love with Gellert♥️ ps: I saw some bad comments comparing homophobia with my house (Slytherin), THAT'S BARBARIC! WE'RE NOT BAD PEOPLE!
Well there is a point; Tom Riddle was very good looking and while he may not have been attracted to him in a pedo way, he was still an attractive, charming young man.
I found out he was gay on imdb on his description I was shocked but it didn't changed how I felt about him as a person his sexuality has nothing to do with it or his character
I was a bit shocked when I first heard it, but big deal, JK created these characters, they are hers to do with as she pleases. If you don't like who ended up with who or anything like that, go read/write some fanfic!
i may hate jk but the way she talks about the relevancy of certain things is fascinating because it doesn’t seem like she just randomly decided Dumbledore was gay because the media at the time was very relevant to gay people/ things it seems like she thought about it as an actual thing
that's so weird because always assumed that Dumbledore and Mcgonagall had something going on the side, not that they were ever really a couple at any point, just that they would do things on the side
tell you what man the *first* time I read that chapter where Dumbledore's high school "buddy" told Harry about Dumbledore's past (so, the day after the book came out) I clocked Dumbledore as being gay and having had a relationship with Grindelwald (and his school friend btw). She didn't pull this out of thin air. I think the reason it never comes up in the books is like why would he discuss his sex life with a young boy 🤔 (a young straight boy, to boot, who isn't like going through a gay crisis) haven't seen this interview yet and I'm curious to see what she has to say here but I wanted to throw that in before I watched because I'm annoying

If the author says he's gay then he is. That's how it works. It wasn't mentioned in the HP books but not every single bit of trivia has to be mentioned. Also, the story is from Harry's point of view and Dumbledore's sexual orientation was none of Harry's business so why would he know about it?

@BLESSED BY KING JESHUA well, if she is an idiot, why she can write a interesting book with many clues on it like that? An idiot can't do it

Dumbledore being gay . . . That really makes sense. I mean, it explains him always being alone and how he didn't see the bad in Grindelwald. Wow . . . It's kind of surprising how well it fits. :D
Danielle during this talk:
Yeah,yeah,yeah,mhm,nice,yeah,yeah *laughs awkwardly*
I knew it!!!when I was reading harry potter I knew something was going on between dumbledore and grindlewald!!
Exactly theres clues everywhere. Sure its not straight up in your face but you get an idea in the book.
@@brendaflores1446 ya, that's one of the reason why Harry Potter is so brilliant!
Yeah, right? I was always wondering why no one else got it at the time. But I'm pleased to know that JK Rowling would consider me a 'worldly reader':D
everybody accepts the fact that he's a wizard, being able to do crazy stuff and fight against voldemort like a boss. but not everybody's okay with him being gay?! WTF!!
i don't think people are that quick to judge anymore.
I thought, being Harry Potter fans, there would be no homophobia in the comments. But I was wrong, and now I am deeply disappointed.
I know right...
City Skyline u legend haha I love how you just say it like it is
Why would you think that? Theres nothing in the books or movies that would require someone not to be homophobic in order to find entertaining
homophobia doesn't exist, get out of your hurt feelings
Simply disagreeing with a certain type of lifestyle isn't homophobic.
Why, I know many people that are gay that come from deeply religious families and their families may not agree with them because they do not understand it, but they are definitely not hated or dismissed. Of course I know that's not always the case, but I'm sure my point is easy is grasp.
I'm very proud of this fact. That at least someone isn't afraid to make a character gay or be afraid that people are gay. I just feel like everyone is making it a bigger deal than it is. So what, one gender can be in love with the same as themselves. I'm very proud of this.
I totally agree with you and the homophobic people can go away we don’t need them
There is nothing to be proud of in populistic bullshit, if anything, it is demeaning and sad!
As a straight man i can say: i fucking love it.
+Pierce BrosMAN That sounded gay as fuck.
ahahaha, yes it does
+Yes Sir! does this mean I'm gay... YES SIR? FUCK!
O RG I was implying not applying ... sorry for my english, its my third language
Dumbledore's savage af
It was surprising to me just because he's, well, DUMBLEDORE. I just never really pictured him having a sex life. He was always this omniscient, grandfatherly character. While him being gay was definitely unexpected, I think it adds an interesting layer to his character
Well, being gay doesn't mean you have a sex life

It's hilarious that homophobic people have grown to love Dumbledore as a character over the years and now that he's gay they have to hate him on principle.
Mia Larsson hilarious and sad. It's disgusting that it even is an issue, still :(
Agreed af

UPDATE: Dumbledore is indeed gay and was in love with grindelwald!!
more or less what she’s been saying for the past 15 years
Daniel looks like he is gonna faint in any second
Just give him some chocolate afterwards he'll be fine.
Who else coming here after watching "The Secret of Dumbledore?"
Me
It just makes sense!! and I’m in love with grindelwald and Dumbledores past dynamic.. it’s the highlight for me
"His experience with love was tragic, and it was with someone who was dangerous," (or something like that)
Me: "oop- GRINDELDORE-"
I don't know why but watching one of the most iconic fictional characters in history talking to its creator feels so good. In here Daniel looks fresh out of filming the series, he looks exactly like when he played Harry Potter in the last few films. It's so cool, I don't know if anyone can understand how I'm feeling.
i agree
Daniel speaks like he's loudly whispering
Hermoine was in a wheelchair the whole time too btw.
...and she was black, and wore Orthopedic Shoes, and is Autistic and A Drunk.
"Before publication of Philosopher's Stone... I knew he was gay"
Yet there are people who still claimed "Rowling was bullied to make a gay character to fit the gay agenda... Bla bla bla..."
*Although she got bullied for not referring Dumbledore's sexual orientation in the book after the revelation, despite as she said, it's not relevant enough to the main story."*
She can lie and say whatever she wants. You realize that, right? I just about guarantee he wasn't gay until she was afraid of Twitter.
Wow that would be a great book/movie!!!!
I really hope they don't make a spinoff about that.
What do you think about fantastic beasts
they should name it fantastic beasts and make sure there’s 3 parts. i’m thinking.. fantastic beasts and where to find them.. uh.. maybe the crimes of grindelwald? and it should be ended by exposing dumbledores secrets.

The Secrets of Dumbledore 🤫
LMAO legit 2:00 ringing some bells
I read the last book when I was 9 and thought that Grindelwald ans Dumbledore were together lol
Poor you you had to suffer dumbledore’s gayness
I kinda think that he really is after watching FB: the crime of grindewald
Yeah, the "We were more than brothers." line made me think so
emi the part where he went to the mirror and saw Grindelwald and himself holding hands gave me shivers tbh.
Us now knowing that Dumbledore IS gay
"Did you put your name into the goblet of fire, Harry?" Dumbledore asked homosexually.
He's gay but as an old man he's pretty much non sexual like many elders. No different than a straight man.
Who come here after watching fantastic beast 2022?
So it is confirmed
Lol you can see the arrows of guilt and general feels striking Daniel down @2:05 XDD
I love that dumbledore is gay, that's great! It just makes me really appreciate the books even more! Especially because it's almost unheard of to have gay major characters in a fantasy book.
I think though, someone at 150 is over the dating time
He wasn’t gay in the books
Wow, a character being gay, that's so relevant and interesting ;)
@@Angel-id3kn Why is that relevant and interesting for a kids' series?
@@lapurdy71 well its relevant bc it adds more depth to him as a character..... If he was afraid of not being accepted as gay by others in the wizarding world, he would work hard to help others that face discrimination, prejudice, and abuse from society (ie. magical creatures, muggle-borns, students with disabilities, innocent people who were accused of crimes, those who were reptant of their crimes, etc..... So actually it adds to his character
1:55 That seriously broke me to tears.....
Dumbledore and Grindelwald q-q
The creator and the boy who lived talking to each other....😍❤💓
On a different note:
Ever notice that all the men that Dumbledore had "an eye on" become evil wizards?
First Grindelwald
Then Voldemort
What if Harry becomes evil as he grows up, disillusioned by the world, and Ron becomes the new MC and has to fight his best friend, the boy who lived too long and became the evil he had sworn to fight.
I'd be interested in a story like that, tbh
They could even do it with the OG cast.
Doesn't even need to be canon.
I didn't know about Dumbledore is gay until my brother told me
But I want everyone to know that this is not gonna change how I see him
Albus Dumbledore is always gonna be my favorite character weather gay or straight
She’s becoming a woman of the days gone by. They are more susceptible to new strategies used to control minds.
At harry potter and the half blood prince film he asked for Prof.Slughorns knitting pattern magazine, so there's a hint.
Dumbledore started dressing like Gandalf when he read Tolkien's book in the late 50's
No reason why they aren't written in that world
If dumbledore is not gay, we can't have Grindeldore!
Now it all makes sence why they call him the "Headmaster"
I'm going to put a positive comment because I scrolled over recent comments and disliked the reactions:
Dumbledore is awesome.
Yay I'm happy I'm not the only oneWho feels that his romantic preferences are irrelevant!😄
Thebbookgirrl101 I feel he shouldn't be gay though. A strong male and straight figure would stand as more impressive and intense a character.
Not surprising, really. He was actually kind of flamboyant. Suits him.
I'm excited to see the grindelwald - dumbledore thing explored in fantastic beasts wow
What language did you read them in? I mean your name sounds German... So... German or Dutch?
Kyra Delemarre haha Polish, actually ;p
oohhh niceee. I've always wanted to visit Poland
Whatever it is dumbeldore is awesome.. Admit it
I don't care that he's gay I still love him. That ain't going to change how much I've come to love him as a character it's just him. I have to say Jude Law in fantastic beasts 2 stole the show completely and Jude Law is just gorgeous
man.. i always shipped him with minerva.
How about his love for knitting patterns?
2 minutes after watching this me and my friend were playing something with Harry Potter and she’s says “Hey since Dumbledore likes Mgonagle these two people could be them!” And then I say “ Uh.. Dumbledores gay.” ;-;
You can all been: cool he's gay. But we all love Dumbledore's relationship with Prof. McGonagall at some point, and you can't deny it
I think the book implies a relationship between Grindelwald and Dumbledore
It might be, might not be, in the end it's one of those things that is truly up to the reader to interpret
Though the book implies it quite a bit
I think that's different from a character who is described as being gay after the work has been completed, and with no reason to believe that
This video is from 10 years ago, but in the most recent (i think) fantastic beasts movie, Dumbledore says something referring to Grindelwald.
"very few writers stay with their characters for so long."
Try adding 10 years
Eichiiro Oda (One Piece, 25 years), Gosho Aoyama (Detective Conan, 25 years), Trey Parker & Matt Stone (South Park, 25 years).
Or even longer:
Akira Toriyama (Dr Slump, 35 years; Dragon Ball, 30 years).
Just saiyan 🤷♂️
Yes he is and he was in love with Grindelwald 🙂
Maybe hes pansexual
Smartest comment doesn’t get much love.
Pretty much until 7 maybe 6 who the trio would end up with could still have gone either way, what she wrote until that point was a friendship, not a love interest but that's still very different. There we're talking about the developing story that's taking place and in terms of the relationship it's stuff that isn't really that important, with Dumbledore we're talking about the past and the building blocks for the character and who he is
also as far as I can tell she's only regretted killing 1 character. Saying sorry she killed them is not saying that it was a mistake
I love that J.K. just confirmed that Albus was in love with Gellert♥️
ps: I saw some bad comments comparing homophobia with my house (Slytherin), THAT'S BARBARIC! WE'RE NOT BAD PEOPLE!
now we know the reason why dumbledore was so lenient with tom riddle...

Well there is a point; Tom Riddle was very good looking and while he may not have been attracted to him in a pedo way, he was still an attractive, charming young man.
When I told my friend he was gay she was like no, he's not married
I found out he was gay on imdb on his description I was shocked but it didn't changed how I felt about him as a person his sexuality has nothing to do with it or his character
That's what Daniel predicted for a long time ago before Fantastic Beasts Secrets of Dumbledore.
Someone who fall in love with an evil wizard, who lost his sister in process wouldn't be a champion of love.
well you learn from your mistakes at least he did lol

When i figured this out I was like :thank God Jonny depp wasn't in the last episode of fantastic beasts....
I was a bit shocked when I first heard it, but big deal, JK created these characters, they are hers to do with as she pleases. If you don't like who ended up with who or anything like that, go read/write some fanfic!
That's a damn good point.....
@B R That's not how sexuality works. Please just.....look it up.
I just scene crimes of grindlewald and now this video it all come full circle
I still like dumbledore
He's not gay, he is creative backwards mechanic
i may hate jk but the way she talks about the relevancy of certain things is fascinating because it doesn’t seem like she just randomly decided Dumbledore was gay because the media at the time was very relevant to gay people/ things it seems like she thought about it as an actual thing
that's so weird because always assumed that Dumbledore and Mcgonagall had something going on the side, not that they were ever really a couple at any point, just that they would do things on the side
Nah, yhey are just best friend, but look, not like many otjer books, it isnt shoved in ur face that dumbledore is gay
tell you what man the *first* time I read that chapter where Dumbledore's high school "buddy" told Harry about Dumbledore's past (so, the day after the book came out) I clocked Dumbledore as being gay and having had a relationship with Grindelwald (and his school friend btw). She didn't pull this out of thin air. I think the reason it never comes up in the books is like why would he discuss his sex life with a young boy 🤔 (a young straight boy, to boot, who isn't like going through a gay crisis)
haven't seen this interview yet and I'm curious to see what she has to say here but I wanted to throw that in before I watched because I'm annoying
She doesn’t see him as Daniel she really sees him as Harry Potter
Dumbledore's not gay. Never mentioned or even hinted in the Harry Potter books. Also, it's not irrelevant.
Classic queercatching
I understand why it wasn’t in the original book and movie but now that we got fantastic beasts….
J.K. Rowling had to do it because of people complaining about the lack of gay characters in Harry Potter
@@pillrat If Dumbeldore was told to be gay in the first book for example, I wouldn't care. But because, as you said, minority of people(looneys) complaining, having their tiny feelings hurt there's no gay characters.. It's not even relevant in these kind of movies or books aimed mainly for children and teens....
If the author says he's gay then he is. That's how it works.
It wasn't mentioned in the HP books but not every single bit of trivia has to be mentioned. Also, the story is from Harry's point of view and Dumbledore's sexual orientation was none of Harry's business so why would he know about it?
