- In a truly genuine and heartfelt moment, Sr. Helena Madera-Silmi from the Misbaah Foundation in Sacramento opened up about her inspiring journey during MCC's Ramadan 2024's pre-Iftar talk, which was attended by our new Muslims cohort. Around a hundred convert sisters and brothers attended the program.

This talk was delivered at the Muslim Community Center - East Bay (MCC East Bay) in Pleasanton, California on March 17, 2024.
About the Speaker:
Sister Helena is an active community member and she has always put others before herself. She gives generously of her time to philanthropic efforts in the Muslim community. She currently is a Hijama therapist as well as as Resource Director! for Al-Misbaah Foundation. In this role, Sr. Helena procures household goods like furniture and clothing to give to newly-arrived refugee families.
Helena is originally from Cleveland, OH. She has been an active Hijama Therapist (according to the Sunnah) with over 23 years experience. She has worked with the Cleveland Municipal School District and Cleveland Clinic Foundation with over 15 years of experience in the Community Outreach Spectrum. Since moving to Sacramento, CA in 2015, she has made her passion for charity work flourish throughout the Sacramento Community.

I happen to live in a neighborhood where we have a very few Muslims, in fact we have 4 Muslims home and one is my sister, the 3rd one is not a devout because she is married by a Christian, the 3rd one is so conservative and hardly communicate me and my sister are the only liberal and Alhamdulillahi everyone loves and respects us because we are the least of their worries, we show the compassion and treat them as neighbors which encouraged by our Prophet PBUH to be good and kind to your neighbours even if they are non Muslims. Be good to your neighbours and show compassion even to those who seems to hate you for your faith. Thus, the only way to prove them wrong. Look how the people of Gaza are now made people to love Islam because of their patience and endurance despite the hardship they are in.

Q 2.62 - Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians, whoever believes in God and the Last day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve.
My message to the new reverts, Islam is a perfect religion a manual of a better life and contentment, guide to being a good person and obedient to Allah the creator of all. If you join Islam ignore bad Muslims among us we have some extremists people who can bully you online and anywhere but ignore them and follow what Allah's and his messengers instruct you to do. There are so many rules which might at first looks difficult to you but take your time to digest the benefits of following those rules and you will be amazed how it impacts your life and made you a better version of yourself. Remember no one is perfect and you have no business to hate and be intolerance to other people who follow their way of life. Your only obligation is to remind them in most humble way without made them feel uncomfortable with you.
In Islam no one claim who's insiders who's outsider. I born in muslim but i have no right to say a single world against revert muslim (new Muslims) .Only one thing between us will make us better is only (taqwa) we all proud of you
