    in the episode with the husband who beat his wife, they had this whole drawn out legal battle to determine whether he had any fault in not only assaulting his wife but abusing his children and the entire time I watched it I remember thinking "Hey how about bring the cops who arrested him in for their testimony so they can say 'yeah he took a swing at his wife during the arrest"

      Your rights only have to be read if you're being questioned by police. As in, if they want specifics out of you, they gotta Mirandize you. There's entirely possible that you can be arrested without them ever needing to speak with you, and you only get read your rights when a state lawyer comes in to speak with you.
      If you, however, spout off while the police are arresting you, or while in jail, or anywhere between, Miranda doesn't apply.

      @R. H. Kingpin I've never been in trouble with the law either, and I intend to keep it that way. I'm not anti-cop. The occasions I've had exchanges with cops, I've been respectful. That said, I recognize cops are not your friends. If they suspect you of a crime, they're allowed to lie to you. But if you lie to the cops, even by accident/misremember a detail about where you were, boom. They can arrest you for obstruction of justice. That's why I say don't talk to the cops.

    • @DrownedInExile
      @DrownedInExile 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @R. H. Kingpin You said "If you believe they suspect you of a crime then ask them. They have to tell you."
      That sounds nice, in theory. But what they don't? Maybe they're trying to pull a fast one. Or maybe they don't consider you suspect at that time, but things change? Either way, you're running the risk of making potentially incriminating statements, arrest, loss of reputation, loss of money from hiring a lawyer, etc.
      Engaging with LEOs to keep crime down, again sounds nice in theory. But good deeds rarely go unpunished, and every prison on this planet has wrongfully convicted people (for whatever reason). Be careful, stand up for your rights, because no one else is going to do it for you.

    • @WithoutRemorse12
      @WithoutRemorse12 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @R. H. Kingpin Sorry to tell you this but Law Enforcement is just the extension of State Violence. They are not social workers. They are not going fix Social problems excaberated by poverty and government neglect. Cops generally operate like an occupying force in poor neighborhoods. Thus criminals can win hearts and minds by giving some turkeys on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Dumb cops don't differentiate between Skywalker and an armed person running from a liquor store that just got robbed.

    • @WithoutRemorse12
      @WithoutRemorse12 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @R. H. Kingpin American Law Enforcement goes back to the days of the slave catchers. Slave Catchers became cops after Slavery was somewhat abolished. Through 60 and 70s southern law enforcement migrated all across the country for better paying jobs in Law enforcement. Charity is not justice. It's a bandaid. Charity not going to fix the led problem in Flint. You know scientists since the 70s have been yelling about the damage lead paint and lead pipes do. Lead causes irreversible brain damage. Morally bankrupt politicians and Big contractors did this to save a buck. They destroyed lives and communities. I'm here to tell you trauma is long-term and no amount blood money fixes that. So when they murder unarmed people for petty crimes or simply not respecting their authority. They set a precedent. When societies breakdown or Violent revolutions happens. These violent mobs don't differentiate between if this cop was secret police, corrupt, brutal or community police officer. They just line them up against a wall and get a brief Catharsis.

      I'm pretty sure it was a Glock, as that's what the NYPD started using once they forced the change-over.
      Also, the NYPD Glock Triggers are _insanely terrible_ at over 12lbs. This was done to replicate the base trigger pull of a double-action revolver. It also leads to horrible shooting and slow follow-on shots, since officers tend to jerk the trigger instead of pull gradually and deliberately. Which is one reason why the NYPD has an abysmal 12% shot-on-target rate, for rounds fired at suspects (and a rather high rate of shot bystanders).
