Thanks for the video series. I just bought a 100 that had this issue. The PO put a new spring in it and now it won't crank it backfires instead. I think he's somehow got the timing off by one cog on the distributor. Saving this to MY FAVORITES
Hey been watching your super a videos. Nice. Im currently restoring my Grandpas. Went to disassemble the Carter carb and broke the bowl beyond repair. Trying to verify if I can replace it with a zenith carb.
Yes, Zenith Carb will fit and hook up to a Super A Linkage. I Never had one with a Carter Card, all my Farmall A and Super A's were all Zenith .... Good Luck.
+StarPuss www.ToxicRedNeck.Com There isn't on these. I have the same engine on my tractor and everything looks correct with nothing missing on the outside.
I Had the same problem on my Super "C" and ended up installing a lite 8 inch spring from the governor arm linkage to a bolt on the engine block in front of the carb. and it started running better.
+Isaac Schuler Suggestion... If you can Post a Video of the problem it would Help Myself and others to Possibly help you shine some light on it... It always helps me.
Definitely either a broken or stretched spring. Sorry about the wrong link before, I am also helping someone with a cub, and I got you two mixed up. Did you see the video on the 230 governor?
+piratebobstreasure Yes I Did see that Video, Very Good. I sure hope you're right, that makes me very anxious to rip it apart now. I looked on Ebay and the springs go for $8 to $13 ?? The one for #13 says in made in USA, so I'm gonna go with that one I think, unless you suggest someplace else to go?? Thanks again, DanO'
what was the problem? my super C is doing the same thing. I have zero throttle adjustment from the throttle up at the wheel. runs close to wide open no matter what.
I replaced the Gov Spring and Bearing, Both were worn out, bearing was sticking and spring lost it's tension. It worked for me, the tractor has been running perfect since I did that. If your linkage to the carb is adjusted properly and ot still does it, I'd definitely would change the spring inside the Gov, Good Luck.
I'm Not familiar with the C , sorry I can't be of more help. The Thrust Bearing and Spring cost me $65. When you do solve the problem , hope you make a video to help others... I'm Curious to see and hear what you find.
I wish I could make a video taking mine apart. I just took my tractor back over to my buddy's place Friday. When the tractor is running fast the counterweights should create pressure to pull the carburetor linkage rod to slow the engine down. It looked to me like when you had it running that the governor ran out of travel before the carburetor linkage could go down to an idle position. I'd be curious to see what it looks like when the carb. to gov. linkage is disconnected at the gov. and then both pieces pulled to the front of the tractor. If the linkage rod can go closer to the front of the tractor than the gov. arm, then it will never be able to idle and the linkage rod needs to be adjusted shorter. Even if there are issues inside your gov, this should still at least allow your engine to slow down and idle. I had to replace the springs in my gov. too. There was one spring in particular that was backed by an adjustment screw and jam nut that completely changed the personality of the tractor. Before replacing it I was always giving it a little extra throttle going up hills and then a little less going back down. Not an excessive amount, but a little. After I replaced that spring I could set the throttle and leave it. I could even let the clutch out easy in 4th gear at idle and it would give the engine a little gas and go. I'll be curious to see if anything is bad inside your gov. It shouldn't be anything more than a broken spring, if anything.
+StarPuss www.ToxicRedNeck.Com Nothing is Missing......I Checked all the Vids... There are No Vids on the A or Super A, Just the M & H Farmall Governors , I've Hunted everywhere... I tell you one thing ... The'll Be MORE THAN ONE "How To" Vids on This Super A when get Done, that's for Sure.

Maybe there is a large spring that mounts to the linkage on the arm it self going to the carb that's missing?

I'm actually having the opposite problem i move the throttle and the tractor doesn't rev up it just stays idling
+Isaac Schuler yet i move the governor and it revs up fine so im gonna look at it and see what it is

Isaac Schuler I have the same problem with my farmall. What have you found that was wrong in the governor?
Looking forward to the upcoming vids. Wish I was more help.
+januaryman169 Appreciate the Support, that's what I need Most right now

+MrDanoconnor thanks I'm going to look into that now. the governor spring on my H was a 5 minute job, this one looks a little more complicated! lol

I have the same problem what did you do to fix it
