Thank you very much for the great tutorials! They are by far the best DCS tutorials on TH-cam in my opinion, and have really contributed to my learning process.
Thanks again for making these videos. They are super helpful and I have learned a ton about the F18 from you. Thanks again for taking your time to create them, they are excellent and to the point.....
Btw if you hit the select button when the cursor is over a track file it will step to whatever you have highlighted. On my HOTAS I always have step and range mapped. As you can step and range without SOI but to be precise you can SOI, cursor over track, step. Also note that EXP (if I remember correctly) when not stepped to a track file will expand your view to the front of your aircraft, if you're not concerned with your 6 at that moment.
Sometimes enemy contacts don't show up in the SA page, even though the Awacs calls BRAA. This is strange because I guess that the Datalink has to display every contact called by the Awacs. What do you think about this issue? Thank you
There may be limits around how many contacts can be displayed on the datalink. I'm not entirely sure. If you think something is wrong then I would suggest reporting it as a bug on the ED forum.
@@deephack I thought/think wpt 59 is automatically populated with Bullseye on the map. If you set wpt 1 to bulls whatever wpt 1 is will become your jets bullseye. It wont match anyone else who setup a proper bulls. If I understand that right?
@@projenitor2387 BE can be set up for any waypoint. Infact, depending on your mission you may want to BE multiple locations if they are far from each other. This will need to be understood by the group and not represented on the map as a dedicated BE. Since the AWACS is giving calls to all aircraft and it's preset it is generally set via mission editor, with a marking on the theater map... So everyone is on the same page across all changing missions etc. Let's say you were to go out on a strike mission. WP1 could be BE1 for your flight group and dedicated AWACS. Once the mission is complete and you move to WP2 which is another target, you can set BE to that WP. AWACS if maned, would also switch it's BE... Since AWACS is automated it's simplified and BE isn't as useful or precise but it does help to keep a good overall picture of the airspace. The reason I would BE each WP for each mission if I had a flight group is because you know from your target location where aircraft is around that area.. 180/20 from BE would mean that there is a target 20km south of the target.. easy peasy.
@@_Jake.From.Statefarm_ Wouldn't that denote that each flight would have to adjust it's bulls on some one else's schedule? If I complete task at wp 1 Bulls on that way point. When I move on to wp 2 some other flight would have to know that in order to track any marked targets? It's to my understanding Bulls is set for the theater so one flight 50 miles east, and another flight 50 miles west can have a picture of the battle space from the same reference point? A lot of our missions have 60-to 70 active player aircraft with their own tasking. I feel swapping bulls and keeping all 70 aircraft on the same page would be counter intuitive?
@@projenitor2387 Yes that is what I said. I said it's changeable for dedicated missions. If there are multiple missions, or a larger theater of war it would strategically be placed somewhere close to the AO. Hence why they don't just reference homebase or a tacan station to an airbase and go off that.. I was referencing why they are able to be switched not that they are always used in that way.
400 hours and I never knew about the hsi/sa shortcut. Thank you!

Very well explained Deep...love your tutorials knowing that you put a lot of research into them.
Man your channel is HIGHLY under-rated. Thank you very much!
Thanks a bunch .. it helped me a lot to develop my indispensable feeling of the SA.

Great explanation of the SA
Thank you for this great tutorial series!

Superb video, thank you!
Thank you Mr Deep
Outstanding video ! Thank you
Does bulls not need to be setup on waypt 59?
No, on the Hornet it can be any waypoint. On the F-16 it is steerpoint 25.

Great, but how do i enable the SA page for contacts to be visible? My sa page set as soi is empty, no contacts displayed..
The SA page receives contacts from the datalink so you need to have contributers to your link such as AWACS, GCI to get anything.
