It was srikkanth who taught how to hit the ball over the fielder's head. Earlier the cricket that we played was sadate. It was customary to play defence followed by glance. The scoring by hitting the spinners were the main theme of then cricket. I played cricket in the mid fifties and our batting, bowling and fielding was simply par below the present. Many of us had no physical stamina to play 30 overs game. Well cricket has changed a lot in the present day where the physical endurance is given the top priority. E A S prasanna who played test cricket is a good friend of mine, but I have never seen him chasing the ball to stop the boundry. Our test match fielding improved with Eknath solkar. Present day fielding is by far superior to the old time fielding standards.

Sreekanth was a quick scorer and ofcourse chain smoker..it was a wonderful team that got us the world cup for the first time, defeating the mighty West Indies team..

Srikka was master blaster always...straight out of pure heaven - no cook up, no make up or no tutored /polished body language even at public gatherings. Such a straight forward and humble person. I loved him frm day one of his Ranji days..straight pure direct one way love. My longing to meet him was fulfilled unexpectedly in a temple and spent quite a precious 20 minutes - all for myself..without interruption of srikka..!! That was my proud moment and still relish it with his autograph on a divine panchangam..to signify the importance of spiritual help for me to get him straight without any effort. I am thankful to his childlike positive attitude and humble nature always. Salutes to him always.
