    Propane is C3H8 so when mixed with O2 in the catalytic cloth you get 3 CO2, 4 H2O if perfect conversion happens with heat as a byproduct. The Hydrogen oxygen bond is stronger then the carbon oxygen bond so if less then normal air is given you get CO rather then CO2.
    This is the same reaction that happens in a catalytic converter in a car where it is breaking up any remaining hydrocarbons that make it past the engine into CO2 and water but normally takes a few minutes to warm up enough to start the reaction.

      So does this still put a lot of moisture in the air like a typical propane burning heater, or does this reaction decrease the moisture in the air?

    Seven, I spent 37 years in the Natural Gas industry. I have reservations about using a non vented appliance inside a closed space. PLEASE always make sure you have a window/door cracked for combustion air and venting. Just remember that propane is heaver that Natural Gas, and don't hold you head above that heater when lighting. Remember head down and away from the appliance.

    I have owned both the 6 & 8 in my Toyhauler. The Wave 6 in the living area & Wave 8 in the Garage area. In conjunction with my furnace in 20 deg. below zero weather. I was able to maintain 68 deg. Inside temp in my 38’ unit no trouble whatsoever. I use 100 lb. propane tank in Hunting Camp here in Montana. The furnace rarely ran during the day and ran only periodically at night to keep it warm. If you decide to install these please consider hard piped copper lines as I did.

    very cool. I don't know that I understand exactly how it works but that's alright. I'd like to think the air would also be warm though, laying in bed breathing in freezing cold air but having warm skin sounds weird haha I am very done with my big buddie heater, had a leak just like you did and now on my last trip I noticed the gas was still coming out for several seconds after I turned the unit off....maybe something to do with being hooked up to a bigger tank/greater pressure in the tank because of being very high altitude or whatever but yeah, I am not comfortable with it, makes me feel paranoid to relax in case I fall asleep with it on and something happens.

    Do you keep the propane tank outside or inside your van? We have been using the Wave 6 in our airstream trailer for a few months (with the propane tank outside) but now that the temperatures are getting into the single digits in West Virginia the heater will randomly shut off because it doesn't get enough propane flow. I know that keeping the propane tank inside would help with this issue but I feel safer keeping it outside. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

    • @captlynhall
      @captlynhall 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for this post. I have kept a 20 lb. tank outside and tried to run my Buddy heater off it but it refused to continue running after starting up. It runs fine on the 1 lb. tanks. I didn't think about the temperature at the tank being too low. It has gotten down to 26 degrees F. these last few nights. I don't feel comfortable with it inside the RV either. Would love to hear a professional opinion on that.

    • @SevenWanderstheWorld
      @SevenWanderstheWorld  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I started using mine the last few days of winter last year with zero insulation in my rig, this winter I've just started using it and now have partial insulation. I can run it at lowest setting and rig will be comfortable temps overnight at 35-40 degree outside. I have 7x18 space. I'd say you could go with a wave 3 and use it on higher setting, or wave 6 on low setting for those temps. if your area is colder, you may want wave 6 for extra heat as it gets colder

      Some wave 6 models come with O2 sensor and will auto shut off if the levels are too low!

    My only criticism here is I remember when you had the "Buddy Heater" episode happen to you and your still giving a negative review to a very good product, and it wasn't the products fault that you had the issue, it was solely your fault, you caused the problem by not having a required propane "Regulator" inline, a "Regulator" that is even pointed out in the instructions of the "Buddy Heater System" that reads it requires a inline "Regulator" for any tanks larger then those little camp stove style tanks, please stop bad mouthing a good product that has a perfectly fine safety record due to your improper use of said product, everything you even mentioned in this video you omitted the fact that now you have a regulator inline, if this was the issue of the product I'd be perfectly fine with your statements, but being an avid tent camper and having used a "Buddy Heater" not only in a tent but also in a 10x10 outdoor shed and never once having any issues over 3 years with that product your misleading people into thinking your screw up was the products fault and that's just not fair towards the company.
    YOU failed to read the instructions and or understand the instructions, YOU didn't use the product correctly or safely, YOU failed not the product and in doing so YOU put other peoples lives in jeopardy, ultimately if that fire had gotten to the large propane tank that YOU had installed under the counter and not to mention had a camping stove also connected to without the proper "Regulator" inline, YOU put others around yourself in the direct line of your incompetence.
    No I don't work for the company, my major issue with this is anyone giving a bad word of mouth advertising stance when they themselves were misusing a perfectly good and safe product, this is how you destroy companies, and in this situation it was YOU too blame and not the company.
    No I'm not trying to troll this is just something that really burns my backside when a product being misused has clear instructions and the individual either ignores those warnings in those instructions, doesn't read the instructions, or doesn't understand the instructions, and in turn wants to place the blame on the product verses their own ignorance, once again.................The Instructions that came with the "Buddy Heater" clearly states on page 3: " NOTE: THIS HEATER MAY BE OPERATED WITH (1) OR
    (2) DISPOSABLE 1 LB. PROPANE CYLINDERS OR WITH
    A REMOTE REFILLABLE CYLINDER(S) MAX. 20 LBS
    USING (1) OR (2) F273701, F273702 OR F272702 HOSE
    ASSEMBLIES WITH FUEL FILTERS (F273699) (Fig. A) ON
    EACH HOSE ASSEMBLY. HOSE NO. F273704 BUDDY
    SERIES HOSE, FUEL FILTER NOT REQUIRED. IT MAY
    ALSO BE OPERATED WITH (1) F271802 HOSE ASSEMBLY
    CONNECTED TO A REGULATED (11” W.C.) PROPANE
    SOURCE OR (1) F271803 HOSE ASSEMBLY WITH 11”
    REGULATOR WITH ACME NUT"

    YOU caused the problem, not the product.

      I believe I explained it was not the Buddy heater failure but rather the hose failure in this video (but a bit less length given this is a video about the Wave 6). I also created a sticky note in the prior video explaining this

      Yes right at the beginning you say: "Massive, Crazy failure with my Buddy Heater, actually the connection point, I shouldn't blame the Buddy Heater, but where the hose connects the Buddy Heater caught on fire", at that point is a O-ring that failed, the O-ring that failed was due to YOU not using a Regulator, I know those Buddy Heaters inside and out, if you listen to what your saying even though your trying to make the point that you didn't believe it was the Buddy Heaters fault you never admit to the fact that YOU caused the issue that you ultimately had with the product, it just seems a little deceptive IMHO, if the roles were reversed I'd admit to my own person short comings and say something around the way of "While I was using the Heater I had what could have been a major fault and upon further research I realized I made a massive mistake by not reading and or understanding the instructions about using a Pressure Regulator in the line feeding the Heater and that was the cause of the issue." ie my own misuse of the product caused all the problems, you've never admitted this in any of the videos it's always been the Buddy Heater and or the hose connection which still somewhat alleviates yourself from any wrong doing in the situation, it's just how it's being presented that's all I'm commenting about.
      I understand no one likes to admit or own up too their own mistakes, it's human nature we all have a tendency to do this.
      But as far as the Buddy Heater system goes it is 100% safe to use when used correctly and the instructions are followed, Camping World should have pointed your mistake out to you about the non-use of a Regulator, but of course they aren't going too or maybe they did, I can't honestly say one way or the other, I'd assume they didn't because here you are standing in front of them blindly wanting to waste more money with them, they are a retail company after all so, sales.
      And no I'm not knocking the "Wave 6" heater, I've never used one, I've only seen them online maybe I've walked by them in stores, but because I've always had a Buddy Heater and I've turned all my tent camping friends onto the Buddy Heaters, I've really never had a reason to look at anything else, and as I've stated I've used the smallest Buddy Heater made to heat a 10x10 garden shed with a 20lb. propane tank attached and using a Regulator with absolutely zero problems for well over 3 years and once I was ready to move up to another Buddy Heater, I replaced the simple O-ring which takes all of 30 seconds to do, tested for leaks and gave the old one to a friend and they continued to use it since with zero problems.
      All I can say is YOU made mistakes not the Buddy Heater and if YOU didn't put a Regulator on the Wave 6 or that camping stove, YOU would have had another failure that could've been worse then the first failure, my concern is what damage you may have caused to that camping stove, have you even bothered to test the connections and the tubing on the stove itself with soapy water to insure that no damage had occurred during the time you were not using a required Regulator, you didn't only put yourself at risk, you put everyone around you at risk and still have not admitted YOUR misuse was the ONLY cause to the heaters failure, that's all I'm saying, giving a black eye to a company over YOUR mistake kind of infuriates me, I know how word of mouth can hurt a business, and really, no one wants to be blamed for someone else's screw ups, it was never the Buddy Heaters fault the fault came from misuse, that's the point your not making for whatever reason.
      Edit:
      Just to let you know, I did see the other video, I even made very similar comments on that video and you responded, I find what your doing fascinating as it's something I myself am wanting to do once freed from the world I'm involved in at the moment which is, I'm my Mothers care giver, I've owned businesses in the past and the longer I've been around the less crap I seem to be carrying around with myself because I keep downsizing my life to be able to move around faster and freer, I'm not looking into step vans and mainly it's because of some of the pitfalls you've had but a small class C camper, I have a couple in mind that would be ideal, but I'm hoping that will be some time away still because for my mother it's either me or the nursing home and she doesn't want the nursing home, hence why I'm living in the world as I am for the time.
      P.S.
      As for your squeaking situation, using a inferred thermometer on a brake caliper is only useful if you had a major heat difference as the brakes will tend to be warmer or cooler depending on load situations and what side the load is on, if it's driving you that crazy you need to find someone in a shop or even a home gamer that has something called a "Chassis Ear" they aren't cheap and most probably won't have one but some do and with that device it has probes or listening cups that can be placed around the offending area then run to a switch block so the person can isolate exactly where the noise is coming from, I know if you search on TH-cam you'll find a video on those "Chassis Ears" and see what I'm referring too.
