You are so right about bean counters ruining the restaurants. My daughter is a cast member who worked at one of the restaurants in the parks. After Be Our Guest opened, bean counters liked the idea of the order, then find a table and they will bring your food to you model. Problem was they used it to cut staff and it didnt work. Food came out cold and the restaurant wasnt really set up physically for that model. There were a lot of customer complaints and it was partly because managers saw this model as a way to do less. They failed to step up and push the food out. As a results my daughter applied to a different job and left there. Frontline cast members can only take so much.
I don't think it was meant to make me emotional but seeing Pete and everyone just really love their meal made me so happy. Glad you guys had a great meal and so happy for the team at the restaurant who delivered it to you
Another great review. Only one correction. That was not a Beef Wellington with the Prime Rib. It is a Yorkshire Pudding. Two different British creations. Keep up the great work.
Nice to see such a positive review. Now I just need Steve Porter to give a review of the Mac and Cheese. It's especially good news that even with the change it stayed affordable. It all looked great.
Disney Dining, Pete, word has already gotten out about Steakhouse 71. Everyone seems to raving about this restaurant. Well done to everyone. Cheer's, Chris Perry.
The poached egg and pork belly was excellent! The service and steak was horrible at Steakhouse 71. Our server forgot to bring the salad and utensils. We were seated at a table with only one seat. That was corrected immediately. This Steakhouse 71 would never come close to the former Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim.
It seems like it’s awfully bright in there and the atmosphere seems kind of cafeteria a Ish ??? In a little bit loud? Any thoughts… The food looks great but the atmosphere doesn’t look too high and looks like a Sheraton or a Marriott hotel restaurant
We were there at the same time (you can actually see my family in the background when Drake is discussing his appetizers) and fully agree with Pete's take. Factoring price, this might be the best restaurant on Dis ey property. Super high quality, good variety, and reasonably priced. Also, the chimmichuri sauce might be the best I have every had. I really hope they can keep it up!
I live in the town next to where Pete is from and when I saw that the Ambrosia. dish I was also expecting something completely different. It was brought to our summer barbecues by Aunt Joyce. A big bowl of mandarin oranges, shredded coconut, maraschino cherries ( green and red) sour cream and cool whip. That’s legitimate NJ Ambrosia. 👊🏻.
Top 3? Ehh...not sure if it topples Topolino's Terrace, California Grill, Victoria & Alberts, Takumi-Tei, or Sanaa...which I think rank above Steakhouse 71 (and yes...I've been to all of them).
I haven't had dinner yet, loved breakfast the Floridan Benedict was great. The Stack Burger for lunch I felt needs some polish. But I have to agree the staff has been wonderful looking forward to try dinner.
I know some people on this vlog don't drink but it would be nice to have some info on the wine list at a steakhouse. A good red wine is half of the meal enjoyment at any good steakhouse.
When i was a kid, my dad would take us to visit my great aunts (his dads sisters) in Louisiana once a year. My Aunts would cook for us each night of our visit. We always had Ambrosia. I loved theAmbrosia. it was light and sweet and fruity. I think I would like the Ambrosia at steak house 71.
Food looks good but the ambiance looks like a cheap cafeteria. Seats look uncomfortable, tables blah and it's super loud. I can't imagine it beating Shula's at all but I'm up for trying it.
We ate here during our last visit last year. The steak was done very well, and I would give it a 9/10. The ambiance would be a 7/10 since our table was next to the window of the bar/lounge where I got to see the flat panel tvs and the backs of people at the bar. The room has very little personality as the designers of the place wanted to pack as many people as they could into the room. A meal should be a relaxing time and ours wasn't. The service was excellent. I'm sure we will return at a less busy time, and I'll request a table away from the window where I can at least enjoy our dining.
Everything seems Jake by this review; but, the sign outside says 'Steakhouse' for goodness sake. The decor inside in the dining room looks like the breakfast suite at ANY Hampton Inn. 😞. Signature Level? ah, maybe the food & drink, not the ambience (harsh lighting, conference auditorium ceiling heights, Airport carpet, and you are seating on plastic doctor office chairs at formica tables, omg, no linens anywhere?). Chapek would not be caught inside ever. Again, sorry.
Will be in WDW the second week in January dropping my daughter off for her semester in the Disney Culinary Program. Have been logging in each morning at 6am to practice grabbing my dining reservations. Huge fan of the Wave. So we NEED to have a dinner at Steakhouse 71! Can’t wait!
@@seanmitchell9449 It was great! Had the bacon and eggs app (of course) and the Fillet for my main course. Both were amazing. The only negative is that I couldn’t order the burger during dinner time. Went back for lunch a few weeks ago and finally got to try the burger. Hands down the best burger I’ve had in WDW up to this point!!!!
I know this is supposed to be WDW's answer to Steakhose 55....and definitely the prices are better....but the ambiance and decor of Steakhouse 55 are worlds apart from this. It looks like it's just a cafeteria.
I have been stalking a dinner reservation here for our Thanksgiving trip ever since Pete did this review. Finally, through some miraculous alignment of the planets, a 6:30 for Saturday night literally fell into my lap last night. And on my 60th birthday no less! I am so excited. Being raised on a cattle farm, I'm still looking for the true elusive signature beef restaurant on property. Yachtsman used to come close, but it; like so many restaurants on property, simply isn't what it used to be. Celebrating Thanksgiving at one of our homes, BLT; this sure sounds like this may finally be it. I can't wait to see for myself. Thanks to Pete and to the entire Dis Team. Great work. As always.
OMG Pete…you hit nail on head about ambrosia in Nj. My aunt always brought that huge bowl and it looked gross to me. I’d never order it from any restaurant. Looking forward to my steakhouse 71 ressie in 3 weeks for dinner!
they better keep those prices where they are and keep the consistency in the food. I pray it doesnt go the way of LeCellier did. We have lunch reservations there in 3 weeks!
I just ate here and loved the bacon and eggs but my new York strip steak was very difficult to cut. I ordered it medium rare. Mashed potatoes were average. Really disappointed that they didn't have any allergy safe desserts as this was our special honeymoon meal.
As much I as prefer when Pete get snarky in his reviews, I’m glad he & his crew loved the refurb, we have reservations there in December and can’t wait!
I was so worried at first because I couldn't get it at our 60 day mark only to find out they hadn't loaded Dec into the system yet. Luckily I only had to stalk for 2 days before it opened. Got the exact day and time we wanted and will be enjoying dinner before heading to the Christmas After Hours event! CAN NOT WAIT!
We ate at Steakhouse 71 last Wednesday Oct 6th and agree with your synopsis on your dishes Pete. The Mac and cheese was meh at best because it was overshadowed by the goldfish cracker crumbs sprinkled on top. The side dish that was amazing was the Potato Gratin. Simply superb and was the best item put down on the table. Skip dessert.
First off, I love these reviews. Second, we are going to WDW this December, and we used Dreams Unlimited to book the vacation. Krystin Turner is wonderful. Everything has been taken care of via email. The only hang up is we are staying at the Swan and the reservations were delayed until we got a separate reservation number allowing us to make those key reservations. Speaking of which, we have made a dinner reservation for Steakhouse 71! I must try the bacon and eggs and the NY Strip sound amazing. It will be a meat overload! Thanks for the confidence booster about this possibly being the best meal we have at WDW.
Thanks for the video. We just got back from our vacation. Were there the 2nd evening of our trip. It was by far the best meal we had. There were 6 of us so we had a really good sampling of the menu. I had prime rib, really good, sauce flight was great. Chicken, fish and plant based were amazing. Wait staff was amazing. Our daughter got married about a month ago, they gave them both a glass of champagne and a special dessert for free. Never would have known about the Wave /Steakhouse 71 without your team. Thanks again. George
Pete couldn't find something to complain about? I'd say the noise level. Maybe they need some fabric wall hangings to soften it down a bit. But then again the Wave had the same problem, and remember location started life as a video arcade.
I feel the same. I’m glad they enjoyed the food but it felt cold and it was very bright and it was like they were in a cafeteria, or wedding venue. Still glad the food was good, they could have gone to a beautiful venue and had terrible food.
Thank you for the recommendation. My wife and I have been DVC members for 20 years, and last night we tried Steakhouse 71. The strip was the most tender strip iI have ever had. The bacon and egg and crab cakes were delicious too. I appreciate the honesty in your videos.
We were there last week and it was fantastic! I had the strip steak too, but got the mushrooms as a side dish - perfect! And I would travel back to Orlando just to get the Fork & Knife Caesar salad again. Bill was our server and he was great - helping us make choices, and learning about my husband's allergy. Can't wait to go back.
Glad to hear they knocked this out of the park! Not sure when we'll get back to Florida again, but will add this to the list. We live in Northern California. So Disneyland Resort is our home park for at least one week every year. We somehow have managed to visit three times during COVID. We are going to really miss Steakhouse 55 and hope something decent takes its spot. The wife and I had a reservation there in April of 2020. Unfortunately, when the parks shutdown that got cancelled and now it's gone.
Thank you for putting this review together; I’m pretty stoked that we snagged a reservation for lunch this coming Saturday at the last minute. Should be a terrific way to kick off our trip! If anyone has suggestions on what to check out at the Contemporary while we’re there, feel free to let me know!
I didn't taste alcohol in the cake. I don't drink. But now my next visit, is it wrong to want a breakfast, lunch, and dinner Steakhouse 71 reservation? LOL. They could not have made SH71 atmosphere any less interesting if they tried
The only thing that could've made this place better was if Macarena was serving
I don't think it was meant to make me emotional but seeing Pete and everyone just really love their meal made me so happy. Glad you guys had a great meal and so happy for the team at the restaurant who delivered it to you
Another great review. Only one correction. That was not a Beef Wellington with the Prime Rib. It is a Yorkshire Pudding. Two different British creations. Keep up the great work.
This is the most positivity I've seen out of Pete.
Thanks for the review. I 100% agree. This place is a gem. We had a fantastic meal for my daughter's birthday. Every single thing was great.
I was so sad they closed Steakhouse 55. Amazing memories, great service, good bar, fabulous food. Thanks for getting me excited to try 71!
Happy to hear the food is good but the atmosphere reminds me of a hospital cafeteria.
I loved Cindy; we need to protect her at all costs ❤❤❤
Thank you
I love Sean’s reviews… so down to earth!
Nice to see such a positive review. Now I just need Steve Porter to give a review of the Mac and Cheese. It's especially good news that even with the change it stayed affordable. It all looked great.
These food reviews are the best content the Dis offers. Awesome stuff.
Disney Dining, Pete, word has already gotten out about Steakhouse 71. Everyone seems to raving about this restaurant. Well done to everyone. Cheer's, Chris Perry.

I have reservations for breakfast, lunch and dinner over the course of my 7 day vacation next month and I can't wait to eat at Steakhouse 71🥳
Excellent Breakfast.
Just booked a reservation in July. I loved Steakhouse 55, looking forward to it.
Can’t wait to try it when we are back. And Paul was our favorite server at The Wave, so I am glad to hear he is still there.
I love to see Sean!, he is so funny. Lovely review!
Sadly, theres zero chance that prices will stay at this value. Almost assuredly going up within the next 3-4 months
Lol the best quote by Pete: “I can’t believe they did this!” 😂
Shawn is so cute! Love him talking about ambrosia 😂
Sean! Haven't seen Sean in ages. That's nice. 👍
It seems like it’s awfully bright in there and the atmosphere seems kind of cafeteria a
Ish ??? In a little bit loud? Any thoughts… The food looks great but the atmosphere doesn’t look too high and looks like a Sheraton or a Marriott hotel restaurant

I'm so so glad Disney got this right after so many swings and misses lately. Thanks Disney I was starting to lose the faith!
Jersey ambrosia, yes! It's never been my thing, but memories of my great aunt bringing her ambrosia to family gatherings floods back.
Top 3? Ehh...not sure if it topples Topolino's Terrace, California Grill, Victoria & Alberts, Takumi-Tei, or Sanaa...which I think rank above Steakhouse 71 (and yes...I've been to all of them).
Anathema 😁 (stress on the second syllable) I love you for using the big vocabulary and understanding good!
Putting this on my list for next time. Can’t wait
I haven't had dinner yet, loved breakfast the Floridan Benedict was great. The Stack Burger for lunch I felt needs some polish. But I have to agree the staff has been wonderful looking forward to try dinner.
Excited to watch. Keep up the great work
Someone mentioned dipping the Mac and cheese in the wine sauce - brings it to a new level
I know some people on this vlog don't drink but it would be nice to have some info on the wine list at a steakhouse. A good red wine is half of the meal enjoyment at any good steakhouse.

Yachtsman has really gone down in the past few years. We now opt for Le Celliere. The meats are much more tender and flavorful.
We ate here during our last visit last year. The steak was done very well, and I would give it a 9/10. Pick up Steakhouse 71 and put it in Tony’s Town Square Tavern. Pete you can only make reservations 60 days out.
The whiskey is cooked out of the cake. Totally acceptable for anyone, including kids, to eat! 15 layers for the 15 stories of the Contemporary! 😀
Everything seems Jake by this review; but, the sign outside says 'Steakhouse' for goodness sake. The decor inside in the dining room looks like the breakfast suite at ANY Hampton Inn. 😞. Out of the three options to dine here, dinner is the winner
I cannot get past that cafeteria atmosphere👎. I would rather go to quick service upstairs.
Will be in WDW the second week in January dropping my daughter off for her semester in the Disney Culinary Program. Have been logging in each morning at 6am to practice grabbing my dining reservations. Huge fan of the Wave. So we NEED to have a dinner at Steakhouse 71! Can’t wait!
How was your dinner?

Agree it definitely looks like a hospital cafeteria I'm not a fan, but the food looks great.
right
I was just thinking the decor looks awful for a steak house and no one has mentioned it. The Yachtsmans ambiance is way better.
Paul is one of the best servers on property. Once he knew we were DIS fans he had nothing but good thing to say about Pete and gang.

I LOOOOOOVE ambrosia. I am the only one I know who likes it. Cherries and all. Edit: and I agree with Pete this looks nothing like ambrosia LOL

what the hell happened to petes eyebrows?
Great reviews. But one comment to Sean... PF Changs? Lol.
Looks amazing! Younger guys. Stop saying “so” all the time. So, so, so….
Click on the closed captioning. Sean had "airline" chicken LOL
I have reservations for my trip in December and can’t wait.

Does anyone know if you can still sit at the bar and order off the menu?
I expected the price to be a lot higher with all that they got and the review the gave.
Can you do a vidoe on the top 10 keto items at each park?
"I can call and get a reservation" lol 🤦
Pete Warner a lot of Disney Vloggers say the same thing about that macaroni and cheese
As much I as prefer when Pete get snarky in his reviews, I’m glad he & his crew loved the refurb, we have reservations there in December and can’t wait!
I've got breakfast and dinner reservations for my trip in December and can't wait!
That bacon and eggs looks revolting
Better than Shulas ? :O
Why keep banging on about how cheap it is?! Disney will see this and bang the prices up

Was honored to experience final dinner service at The Wave. Will be back for the Podcast Cruise in May!
I got my reservations, breakfast and lunch still trying to get dinner.
Hope it stays decent until Feb. On my must do list for food.
So If it’s in your top 3, what are the other 2? Are Jiko and Flying Fish still your favorites?
Side note: If I’m already at the Contemporary, there’s no way I’m going here before California Grill.
💖
I just ate there last week. It was fantastic, lol I sat at that exact table last week
My question is are the seats comfortable, some disney chairs are set at an uncomfortable angle and do not add to in meal digestion!
definitely going to try this spot when we go next year. still not a fan of the decor though. and it sounds really loud, which is not what a steakhouse should be
We have our reservations for breakfast and dinner next week.
Uh.. yeah.. that's not what Ambrosia is..
Hey no offense, but do us all a favor and don't film everyone else. Just film yourselves and the food. give an overlay of the food while you are eating it but we don't need an interview. go back and review the footage and then tell us more. no offense, just take it as a suggestion.
My favorite meal, the sweet potato pasta is no longer at this new version of the Wave. Being a vegetarian I’m very disappointed that they changed the menu. My family and I may try this new restaurant once, on our next trip.
