GENIUS SOLUTION!!! I’m in a new build home. Sonos ceiling speakers in almost every room. Problem: no internet, yet. AND…NO other Sonos equipment!! I have Sonos in 2 other homes. One home is totally integrated w/Control 4. The other (small lake cottage) has internet, but ONLY a series of Move speakers in almost every room. After a lengthy chat session w/Sonos, I opted for 2 Era 100 speakers. Equipped w/only the info the Sonos rep gave me (I SPECIFICALLY identified my situation-needed temp measure, without any internet access), I purchased two Era 100 speakers. When I discovered I was still f-ed bc I do not yet have internet and you cannot set them up strictly using bluetooth UNLESS you have set them up via internet, PREVIOUSLY, I was livid. However, YOUR solution worked PERFECTLY! Kudos!!!

Does this work with a PL 5 Gen 2? I renamed my hot spot the same as my home network and changed the pass to match. Disabled my home network and turned on my hot spot. Nothing will connect. Any suggestions?

In the video 1'20 you say you change the name of your device, do you mean that or change the name of the hotspot?

Nice. But what if I use SonosNet (wireing one Speaker or a sonos boost, using it as edge router and all other speakers turn into repeaters for anyone that doesnt know) to connect the speakers at home?

I have 5 Sonos Play 5 Gen 1 speakers. I have moved and the only connectivity available is T-Mobile Home Internet. How do I get my speakers to work? Thanks

Thank you so much for this information.
I have been trying to solve this problem for years.
Unfortunately my neighbour just moved out and was using his Wi-Fi on my Sonos. (With his permission).
Now I have this solution I do not need Wi-Fi in the flat.
    Thank you again

@@techmenowofficial Hi thanks for replying. Another benefit has come about due to this helpful suggestion for the Sonos using the personal hotspot name as the Wi-Fi name.
Is that the wireless printer which yesterday I had to learn how to do a direct wireless connection with printing and scanning. Something that I did not know I could do previously.
Luckily the printer has now managed to connect to this personal hotspot with the same name as the Wi-Fi router which was in place.
So now I am able to print and scan from my computer onto the personal hotspot which has the same name as the previous Wi-Fi set up.
Thanks to your advice I am now in a position which I don’t really need a wi-Fi subscription.
However the battery drain on the personal hotspot is a lot higher as I have three Sonos speakers playing in different rooms.
For which I will probably use an old 6S
iPhone as a personal hotspot permanently plugged in to resolve that issue.
Or when I get a new iPhone I will use my current 11 pro for this as I think it has a better radius for the personal hotspot and battery life is much better.
Once again thanks for your advice.
I have been trying for years to play directly to a Sonos speaker which I believe you could do without a WiFi router in place. I think this was one of the selling points sometime ago. Although never managed to do that.
This way is so incredible and I don’t know how you figured it out but this is next level thinking and would not have in a million years of thought of it myself.
      Well done.

This will work without Wi-Fi but you will need 2 devices. You need one to work as a hotspot and a second device to access the Sonos app. You could buy a dedicated 4g hotspot from Amazon to act as your ‘Wi-Fi’ and then access the app on your smartphone. GlocalMe make some good hotspots that have their own internal sim and you just buy data on their app.

Hello, maybe you know a solution fot the problem many are facing with sonos: how to combine the S1 and S2 devices to play all together , I found 1 solution on YT but this is on android using the airplay app,
    good video BTW

    • @techmenowofficial
      @techmenowofficial  ปีที่แล้ว

Hey, thanks for watching. I don’t have any S1 speakers in my system so can’t verify. But a couple of possible solutions in this thread:
      www.reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/hl9rdw/integrating_s1_and_s2_systems/
One seems to involve using a Sonos port (which replaced the connect) to plug into one of your S1 speakers and then grouping them.
Second solution looks like the cheaper option but some technical know-how required!
      Hope that helps!

So it just won’t work if you access the app from the same phone you use the hotspot on
