  • A trip to Treasure Valley in Eastern Oregon and Western Idaho gave me a taste of the rail operations of the region which I will be documenting in this series covering the Oregon Eastern RR, the Boise Valley RR, and UNION PACIFIC’s Huntington Subdivision. I hope you enjoy what I found!

3600 sure looks good in the HBR paint scheme. Nice footage.

I'm not sure exactly what color that beautiful power unit is but it's a beautiful "green" if that's good enough! I see many engines here and there with the cleaner ones, and this one's nice! It's good to be back at PRP again. The gentleman who narrates is perfect, and I always learn something.

Thank you sir! Also I agree that the engine is very pretty. I’ll be adding some background of the locomotives’ info next video on the Oregon Eastern.

@@pacificrailproductions5281 I agree about the 3600 and look forward to hearing its story - I found the 'GP35-3' marking intriguing - especially with the 5 written in chalk!

Wish I could have grabbed a pic about 8 months ago when I came around a corner on 84 just before La Grande and saw a Schnabel with a load on UP's line there waiting at a signal. This video out east reminded me of it

Well sir, that always helps to inspire a trip! Thank you for reaching out; I would enjoy a return trip for more action in the treasure valley and eastern Oregon and idaho! If on Facebook, you can message me at Jeremy Lidbeck. Or if you would like a phone number to text, I’d be happy to. Thanks!

That Thursday was a light day for us on the OE. Then it got stalled because UP blocked us out of the interchange yet again. I stopped in the shade of a tree just shy of Cairo. We often use the short siding there to run around cars and shove then down to the wye with UP if we get blocked out. We leave the outbound cars there so the UP Ontario Local can pick them up if they feel like it (which is rare).

I figured you were getting a nice shady spot while the UP clogged the works! I was glad to catch the move anyhow! Also that explains why a couple days later, there were 3 cars on the wye that the OE had to “run around” before delivering. Very cool! I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to meet you, but maybe another time I hope! Thanks for adding some info Ted!

Thanks for the cool information on Oregon railroad history, Jeremy! I always enjoy watching switching, and learning about these short lines. It's great they've found the means to survive. And, repeating myself for the hundredth time, but any day beginning with the sights and sounds of vintage EMDs is bound to be a good day!

I couldn’t agree more Robert. It’s great that we still get to see them in operation in 2023. Hopefully, we can for many more years, but sadly the day will come that they are finally done 😢. Love these short lines!

Very informative video. Was unaware that this small regional RR existed. Good footage. Look forward to Boise Valley. Was an Idaho resident while in college, 3.5 years. Back then BN came into and through Moscow Idaho. Roommate liked train and back in the early 70s the train conductors would allow riders. They told use which boxcar to ride. We went through several small towns and then went down bear creek canyon drops in its 12 miles from 2400' to 700'. It was then a road-less canyon. It was quit the ride for me. Toward the bottom we were really moving. I think the motive power were U33c GE locomotives. All the rail have been pulled. Will there be a part 4 for the Albany lines?

    • @pacificrailproductions5281

That’s pretty cool! Great area to have seen back then! Yes there will be I believe another 4-5 Albany series videos coming

@@pacificrailproductions5281 I also road Milwaukee Road out Saint Maries, Idaho. The conductor had us ride in the caboose. I was up in the cupola as the lookout. He was retiring soon. It was a daily local. That was a fun trip. It was mostly safe to hitch hick back then.
