The love of, or desire to be in proximity of anything Railroad.
Since growing up near the Delaware & Hudson and Boston & Maine railroads, viewing trains from my bike, I’ve been a train enthusiast.
I still love nothing more than going where the trains are, and capturing the essence of railroading on video. I am employed by Union Pacific in Oregon as a conductor. I love my work, and sharing what I know with others who appreciate the rails as I do.
I hope you enjoy viewing my work at PRP!

Dang how many box cars do they have anyway for these businesses
They may want to be careful because the wheels on the 2nd box car are rusted it could derail
Hey those 2 look like the ones from unstoppable
It sucks that the stretch between Albany and Corvallis is the only fast stretch now. Before the Flynn to Toledo 10mph speed restriction, there used to be other fast parts like the stretch between Corvallis and Flynn but that also got reduced to just 10mph.
I believe the tank car is their water car. A nozzle on the side will spray water to help with fire control along the RoW. I’ve seen other videos with it in-use
Very interesting, thanks!
Now yer talkin'. Far superior to these goofy home made go-cart designs on the internet.
I'd rather just listen to the power.

Always enjoy your videos, could you explain what "retainers" mean on the cars, hand brake system? Thanks for your excellent productions.
Sure! Retainers are a part of every car’s air brake system. There is a valve that can be turned to make the reservoir of air retain more pressure and thereby make the brakes set up stronger. It is rarely used today, but was necessary when getting heavy tonnage down steep grades. When they are used, each car would require the brakeman to turn the retaining valve handle individually. Then “knock it down” (Place them back in exhaust position) after they were off the hill.
@@pacificrailproductions5281 Thank you for the detailed explanation, sounds like the brakeman got a lot of exercise and it was not much fun in the heat of the day or the cold of the night.
Wish UP hadnt abandoned the Modoc line,as it would have provided an additional reroute option next to Donner Pass,Feather River Canyon!

Yah bless you and keep you strong!

Saw plenty of that on my trip to the Gorge last month. Trains were stacked up like cord wood on both sides of the river!
Sounds like a good outing! I’m glad you had the time to get to the river.
This is silly which train uses what track upper or lower track
Can you clarify your question; or is it an observation?
@@pacificrailproductions5281 there's 2 tracks upper and lower which train uses it which track
@@stephenswift5531 I explain in the videos along with maps, but the lower track goes from Albany to Eugene and the upper from Albany to Corvallis.

God bless you Larry!
@pacificrailproductions5281 Yes by His grace.
Nice work catching this stretch of railroad. Great to watch it's operations as well. Beautiful scenery excellent video Jeremy! Kind Regards from SoCal; - Larry
Thank you Larry!
Great coverage of this shortline! It's nice to see trains running the mainline but, it's interesting to watch them work. I enjoyed every minute of this excellent video Jeremy, thanks! Greetings from Southern California; - Larry
where did the bulkhead flats pick up the lumber loads?
They are headed to a mill in Weed. Roseburg Forest products.
Hey, Jeremy! I've watched this video three times and have learned more with every viewing. It's just a marvelous piece of work! So many stories of the Modoc come to mind; a friend who hired on with SP as a fireman in 1969 and was absolutely scared to death on his first descent into Canby with the engines' dynos howling and trucks rattling back and forth between the railheads, the hundreds of pronghorn sheep killed by a train in the cut beneath the Perez Overhead as they sheltered from high winds and sub-zero temperatures, and the epic derailment at Chin Road and Hwy 39 when a southbound manifest freight went into the loading spur at Wong's Potatoes at track speed, plowed through the end-of-track barricade, and across Chin Road. The locomotives ended up in the ditch on the west side of Hwy 39, and the railcars went everywhere, including directly through Wong's packing shed. What's amazing about the story is, about 45 minutes ahead of the train's arrival, a conveyor motor had fried and Sam Wong had sent the employees home. So, the only person in the shed when the train showed up was the bookkeeper, and she saw the train through her office window "a lot closer than usual", grabbed her cat, and started running. I'll always believe God knew the loading spur switch had never been lined back to the main and had come up with a way to get Sam's 60 employees out of the facility before dozens of loaded boxcars tore the building from end to end. We were hauling logs out of the Tionesta country at the time on Hwy 39, so I was able to capture some great pics of the wreck. Gosh, Jeremy, the prime mover sheered out of the lead locomotive, took the bodywork with it, went over the cab and into the ditch, and the head-end crew didn't get more than a few scratches. Sadly, a couple of guys who had hitched a ride in an empty boxcar were killed in the wreck. It was a mess...
Wow, Robert! First thank you for sharing and watching, but that’s an incredible story too! What a providential breakdown! You have a lot of intimate knowledge of the area; it’s very cool. Those pictures would be interesting to see! Just west of MERRIL the wreck happened looks like. Those hobos picked the wrong train, wow!
@@pacificrailproductions5281 Jeremy, yep, about half way between Merrill and the Y at Texum.
At hte beginnig did the narrator really say the transcontental railroad was completed in 1865?
Yes he did. That podunk dude screwed the pooch on that one. But I didn’t realize it till too late. 1869 I believe everybody knows is the right year. You know I’m the narrator writer filmer and screener, right? Lol!
Thank you Jeremy, love the video.
Manoah, I appreciate it! I look forward to the next time our paths cross.
Thank you for the excellent video! Klamath Falls is still an interesting railroad town but prior to 1990, it was really interesting, at least to me. There was the OC&E going east to Bly, SP going in three directions (and the Modoc was complete to Wendel), and BN out to Bieber. The good old days.
Absolutely no question. I wish I could have seen it myself. I only saw the railroads from the car window on road trips. Today is but a shadow of the past!
I have tried looking for the book, The Modoc, by Jack Balon and Tom Dill, without any success can anyone help?

Its always nice to still see trains on the modoc line, also are you gonna be filming portland and western anytime soon because the willamina local has a nice rs3l horn on a gp38 right now, saw it the other day nice to see it it used to be on the toledo hauler but then it was put on the willamina local.
I have video I will be producing. The Corvallis local, willamina job, and Westsider are all coming up. Probably in the fall
Okay it will be nice to see the corvallis job haven't seen it since April, thanks
As always, excellent video! Thanks.

Excellent video my friends😮 awesome fantatic like 👍🏻 Greeting 👋🏻 😊
one of Pentrex's best videos is the inside gateway cabride video. Neat to see it in the modern day. and interesting that they finally took a part of the line out of dark territory since, when pentrex went there i think the entire line was still dark. That is a problem with gateway, its hard to access a lot of it. in some cases i am sure pentrex had special permission. though they mentioned using fire roads at one point. Odd to see BNSF 5800 out there. As when new it was a coal hauler. and the 7700s and 7600s were the ones out in california. i am glad you got the correct identification of the SD75s....so many people call them all SD75Ms when clearly some are SD75Is.
I appreciate your input there. I’d love to see that Pentrex video. I’ve seen an awesome cab ride from WPs line in the 70s and there were signals on the high line! I assumed it was always CTC, but I think I’m wrong! I wonder if they re-signaled that part because it once had been; maybe it was easier to do because of that? Anyway, thanks man for the comment. I’ve got BNSF in the feather river canyon and a little from the high line coming.
@@pacificrailproductions5281 if you want to look for it. it is called Running the Highline. BNSF's Gateway sub.
Amazing video!

Excellent video. Got any plans to shoot in the San Joaquin? Grew up around Modesto, Escalon and Oakdale. Remember alot of trains.
Not at the moment. Perhaps one day. But be watching for the feather river and Donner Pass routes. Got some nice action on those!
