The heavy emphasis on the story/cutscenes in 2ks my career has been so catastrophic to the game mode. We want to build our own unique stories within our careers. That's what video games are for. How boring is it that they spoon feed us practically the exactly same story no matter what type of player you play. Just give us control it's a video game for crying out loud.
Exactly. In 2k11 you played in the combine and that decided where you were drafted, then you played summer league and that decided if you get signed. Once you were signed you could become a Star, starter, 6th man, or based on how you played and impacted the team. Each game you had goals and you also has season/career goals that would expand your attribute cap. That mode let you feel like each player you made was different. Your career trajectory was truly yours to mold.
I always wanted to skip the career garbage man I just want to play nba games and earn badge points. there is so much MANDATORY non-basketball crap in this game its insane

I stopped playing this game when my best friend became a some sort of misunderstood drug addict/rapper and died in a car accident and my basketball game went into a cut scene where we were fucking mourning the death of a fictional character? Seriously, why that Spike Lee storyline doesn’t get more hate is beyond me.
They don’t care about the game of basketball anymore. They basically want to make a basketball themed mmorpg run by micro transactions and cosmetic items. Instead of making realistically fun basketball they add multiple shitty arcade style features every year that are meant to add a “skill gap” but really just make it rediculous. All while pussifying the storyline or an nba athlete.

Honestly I just upgrade my player and sim through to the playoffs and go from there. Been doing this since 2K18 and honestly it’s helped me avoid the cringe. At least 2K15-17 cringe were acceptable and 2K19 wasn’t that bad tbh
