  • The NDP took aim at Pierre Poilievre in a new attack ad that says the Conservative leader 'is not in it for you.' However, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says he’s not worried about Poilievre's message resonating with NDP voters.

Why don't you ask the 9 million less fortunate people who are now getting Dental Care and Pharmacare thanks to the NDP agreement with the Liberals. They may take it on the chin for the way they did it, but the NDP wasn't going to win the next election anyway. This way, without even being in power, Jagmeet was able to implement life-changing policies. They may have the support of a percentage of those 9 million people that they never would have had otherwise.

But Chevron/Shell/Esso/Petro Canada etc. don't of course?
The carbon tax has been shown to wean individuals (in the countries where it's been implemented) from fossil fuel usage. That's a vital necessary goal. Technological innovation in the fossil fuel industry isn't moving the needle anywhere near enough to matter as far as reducing greenhouse gases. So society has to move toward reducing consumption and to renewable energy. That's just the elephant in the room. Carbon taxes are uncomfortable, but that's why they've been imposed, to change how we've been doing things because we all need to. And most European countries are FAR outpacing Canada in terms of reducing per capita green house gas creation. We're at the back of the pack. That is fact. Investigate that for yourself.

A big box grocery store increased a can of bean from 1.39 two weeks ago to 1.95 one weeks ago then to 2.39 last Friday and to 3.59 the following Monday. So the price increased 2.20 in less then 2 weeks. Those beans would have been processed from last year's crop. Tell me how a can of beans can increase from 1.39 to 3.59 in two weeks. There is no increase in cost of production. The increase is greed. It is time all these conglomerates were broken up and forced to operate independently; producer, processers, wholesaler and retailer should all be separate and independent from each other. A board of director can not sit on any of the other entities in the supply chain. All the steps in the process must have more then four independent entities. In other words more then four processers, and wholesalers etc.

Raising the minimum wage has never been an answer, it has only ever been a way to get the vote of the poor. What they never tell you is that raising the minimum wage is like voluntary inflation. As soon as wages go up, the goods and services provided by those workers goes up.

Another factor around grocery stores making record profits likely has a little something to do with restaurants being closed for a big piece of the last couple years. Record profits because of increased volume of sales due to an irregular amount of home cooking going on! I'm betting that hoarding and stockpiling has something to do with it as well because people are nervous.
Giving away things instead if creating things that make money and generate profit and wages will only drive our inflation higher.
Printing money and taxing workers to giveaway to poorer people creates inflation. People need income, jobs and security!
Jobs need to be created Jagmeet, not handouts and gimmes!

Taxing workers to giveaway to poorer people? Wow.. that says a lot about you. But if you were actually smart you would know that in Canada a very large portion of our taxes go to the universal healthcare system we have. We also as a country have one of the best public school systems in the world (also taxpayer money)
Do you realize that welfare payments are far less then 1% of our taxes? I’m ashamed and scared that we have plenty uninformed people like this who get to vote
