    I've been putting off replacing my refrigerator gasket for almost a year because I thought it would be difficult & decided today that it was "now or never"! I started by googling the model # then brand of the fridge. Then I noticed numbers in the different videos found & the light went on that these were "part numbers" so looked at the box that my gasket came in a then found the corresponding video & watched it... OMG! This was SO easy! I had some gaps so watched the video again & found that heat or adjusting a tiny bit would fix it. Tried adjusting & it was better but still seemed to not be seated properly in the channel. By sheer wonder I discovered that pressing the seal toward the inside of the door caused a slight "snap" sound. I went around the door again and it's PERFECT now! Almost a year & a job that took LESS THAN 10 minutes & that included disposing the old gasket & the box it came in! Thanks AppliancePartsPros for the video! 🤗🙃🤗
    Now if replacing the kitchen linoleum could be so simple, quick AND easy!!! 😳😣😳

    Wonderful video! You make it look SO easy! I wish it were so for me. So, it pops right in, does it? No tools needed, eh? I think I'm making progress, pushing really hard, only to have it pop right back out again, and again, and again . . . 😫

      Are you sure to have the right size? Try fan heating the rubber and applying a little bit of liquid soap into the rut before inserting it.

    Do we need to soak the sealant strip in hot water?

    i had a repair man replace a torn gasket with a new one....but now the door wont stay closed and doesn't seem to have magnetic attachment. Is there a way to tell where the magnet lies and if the gasket was installed properly. It has been 4 days and still won't stay closed. He said it might conform by itself in time, now I have velcro around the handle to hold it closed and a dining chair in front of it. Not good.

    Is it really necessary to unplug the machine for this particular repair?

      Obviously he would have blown up the fridge if he hadn't unplugged it. This job is a nightmare that has killed many men. 😁

    Thanks for the video. My new refrigerator/freezer would not freeze ice cream. I found the seal was out of place. I tried to put it back in place and could not. I put it back in place in seconds after watching your video. I will save a lot on my electric bill and I can buy ice cream now! Ice cream freezes at a lower temperature than water.

    What causes the seal to go bad? I know they say wear & tear, but what actually happens to the structure of the material?

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kantian Nanbo Over time and exposure to food and stuff the material can degrade and rip or tear. Also over the years the gasket can compress. All of this can cause the seal to fail and start to leak.

      Thank you, I have to take off my bungee cord and put on a new seal Lol.

    • @Lisa_MS64

      Also, everyday opening/closing eventually loosens the seal. We bought a new upright freezer and I was shocked at how much tighter the seal was whenever I open it compared other refrigerators. A good seal will create a little "resistance" when you pull on the door handle. A bad seal will create excess condensation and leaks.

    How I can check my gasket no.

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jason m You can check it for any tears or deformations that will let air get in. You can also use the dollar bill trick where you put a bill between the gasket and the frame at random places around the door. The gasket should seal good enough to cause tension when you pull the bill out. If it just slides out then the gasket probably does not seal tight enough to keep air out.

    your prices are better than partselectdotcom but still not as good as ebay. no way a gasket should be almost 80 bucks.
