Love em all, but personally fancy Tommy for the Over/Under. Quad a true masterpiece nevertheless. Love WHO. In any event, this young lady's musical reactions are stellar and make all my old favorites seem new again....at least as it is seen through her ears and eyes. Good health to all! Goodbye Sister Disco
Many have said it, but Quadrophenia is a masterpiece. The album needs to be heard from start to finish. Listening to the whole thing makes the grand finale of Love Reign O'er Me even that much more powerful.
I also thought that Roger once said that he may not be the best singer but he's the best singer for Pete's songs! As for Pete? He's a weird guy, he trashes everyone for reasons only known to him, I guess
This song is the climax of their rock opera, Quadrophenia. As you love The Who, I strongly suggest that you listen to Quadrophenia on your own some day, start to finish. Pete wrote the opera and it's his highest artwork. It's his Mozart, The Requiem. Maybe not that magnificent but Quadrophenia is a master achievement.
I think that Pete means "Love reign o're me" as in a King or Queen reigning over a kingdom, so letting love rule over his life, and then of course "rain down on me" as in accepting and needing/wanting love to rule his life.
This is my favorite Who song and sometimes I think it is the greatest rock tune of all time, period. It has great lyrics, the most incredible vocals by Daltrey, a beautiful melody, an epic arrangement and the musicianship is impossibly great. There is nothing about this song that is not the greatest. Even the topic and theme of the song is at the highest level. Masterpiece of masterpieces.
I am a Who fanatic, lucky enough to see the real Who with Keith Moon at the Pontiac silverdome and it is so good to see someone else acknowledging that this song may well be the pinnacle of the greatest live band of all time, and may be the greatest song of an era that stands unmatched for music. Lucky us.
High school in the 70's, parked at the beach with your girl, the sound of crashing waves outside, Quadrophenia on the tape deck, rain running down the windows on one side while your breath steams them up on the other, finishing the album with this track ..... some memories never ever fade.

I went to the Quadrophenia tour at the LA Forum, and it was an amazing night. This song is the crescendo to the story of Quadrophenia, the story of a boy who has the four personalities of the individual members of the Who - Tough, romantic, carzy and imploring. Even though they are remarkable songs individually, when put together and in order, they tell the amazing story of the Rockers and Mods in late 50's and early 60's London. My single favorite song from the double-album is the first - "The Real Me". Enwistle just owns that song! Quick note: I'm an old drummer and Keith was my inspiration in style. I bought Ludwig because of Ringo,. but I developed my style from Keith and Corky Laing - fill after fill after fill. If there was a space, there was a fill. Hahahaha. Later, there came a genius named Neil who took it to a scientific level.
This is the final song of "Quadrophenia", which many fans of The Who consider their best work. Roger Daltrey's performance on this song is one of the great vocal performances in rock history. The opening song of "Quadrophenia" is called "The Real Me", which features one of the great bass guitar performances in rock history.

I thought it was the funniest thing I'd heard and laughed uproariously. She was offended and never spoke to me again.

Quite possibly my favorite Who song as well. Your reaction perfectly encapsulates not only the power of the song but the power of music to truly move us. I love your reactions because you are very real- whether you like something or not. But your passion for music and what it means to you is infectious.
I'm sure others have probably told you...but this was the closing track of the album "Quadrophenia" (1973). It was a so-called 'rock opera' and was adapted to a film in 1979. It's the best rock album as far as I'm concerned. ❤️
What a song and what an ending to an already epic album. To call both the song and the album masterpieces is an understatement. And Stacey I love watching you react to The Who.
The great thing about being old is seeing some of the best bands I was grateful enough to see the Who a few times they are so awesome live great reaction
I don't see these lyrics as "sad" as you described it. I always saw this as a proclamation of love flowing over one like rain. Rain has a cleansing quality to it, and you can feel it flowing over your body as it fills every nook and cranny of your body. Much like the love he shares with his significant other. I feel that the writer of this song was saying that the love he shares with another has an all-encompassing, refreshing and quenching quality that he craves. When he is separated from his love, he yearns for the return of this all-consuming passion that he only gets from the person he loves. I feel that this is where the soul & passion in his voice originates.
You excel in your reactions! i admire your ability to catch so much in just one pass of watching/hearing. I expect you will be around doing these reactions as long as you are willing to. Your voice is captivating as well as your beauty!
Hey, Stacey. This song is breathtaking in its volume of emotion. It says that love is as elemental as nature and the air we need to live. Its impact can drown or future the soul. The proof being in your response. The Who were in the prime years when they recorded this music. But there is still more for you to hear. THE REAL ME, BEHIND BLUE EYES, LONG LIVE ROCK, and SQUEEZE BOX. Have fun with the last one. I can't wait to see your reaction. Keep going and enjoy the music.
This is subtitled “Pete’s Theme”. And you’ll appreciate this … when The Who performed Quadrophenia in its entirety, a certain guitarist joined them on stage for it. It was none other than David Gilmour =]
All the piano and keyboards you hear in the background were played/programmed by the guitarist, Pete Townshend. Pete is also the main songwriter in the band. Musical genius.
I was all twisted up. A boy from a small cowboy town that moves into the rich area for high school. My town's rough reputation made it rough for me, but I persevered. Just as I was starting to figure out HS, I catapulted myself into art college at sixteen and took it by storm. It was world of weird adults and a cocktail of drugs, alcohol and sex to fuel an extraordinary educational experience. By the time I was eighteen I felt that something didn't feel normal. My best friend told me it was normal to not feel normal. Others told me that I was right and If I came out of the closet It would be normal. I was the black sheep of my family so I knew they thought I wasn't normal. I decided it would be normal if I walked away from it all. Stumbling into a record shop looking at New Releases, I see a black and white photo, a guy in black standing in clouds. "$7.99. That's expensive. Quadrophenia? QUADrophenia! What is this? That's a bike. A nice bike." Flip it over. "Ohh He's dumped the bike in the water. Who is this? Oh, on his coat. The Who!?!" When I get home I discover a forty page album of black and white photos, lyrics and liner notes. It's an Opera and it is magnificent. The whole album builds to reach his guitar riff at the end. You need all four sides to appreciate this finale. Townsend wrote a whole album to give me the answer. Just let love reign over you like water. My friends noticed that I played the whole thing every time they visited. For a long time I played it every day. I bought a second copy and then a CD. I recently found a pristine copy of an original press for $20. Also that I have celiac disease, which explains everything. Love, reign over me. It's almost religious.
Thanks for your videos, I’ve been enjoying them lately. You seem so sincere. Many of these songs have been the soundtrack of my life. I’ll never know how I felt the first time I heard “love reign over me” or “sympathy for the devil”: I was just a kid, they were there all the time. There was no analysis, they’d come on the radio and my head would start bobbing. So it’s very cool that I can share in your joy and amazement when you hear these songs for the first time. It brings to me a whole new appreciation of these amazing songs that for me were always just there. So thank you, I hope you keep it up. When I see a new video where it’s a song that i love, like this one, it brightens up my day and you help me realize how great these songs are. And I love the cat appearances too.
Stacy. I love that you have discovered The Who and are loving their work. If you haven’t thought of it already I suggest you go back to the beginning and discover their raw rock and roll early music. I think that puts into perspective the roots and growth of one of the greatest rock bands. I have followed them since the 60’s and they have never let me down.
Hi Stacey, I love your reactions, you really feel the music, and understand it. Your appreciation of the music I grew up listening to is a joy to see. Add to that the fact you are a beautiful young lady, makes your reactions unmissable.
Stacey, don't forget about the play-on-words in the song: He's singing "rain" but he is also suggesting "REIGN". As in, "Love, reign over me!" -- be my majestic Monarch of a love that rules over my world! There is also that meaning that comes through.
There will never be a music era like the 70’s. Being a teenager and listening to thr Stonesand Zeppelin and The Who and Floyd etc. man those were some great times
Quadrophenia, in my opinion Pete's masterpiece! The emotion and power is because this song is really a prayer at the end of Quadrophenia This rock opera is basically about teenage angst. Our hero, Jimmy sees part of himself in each of the four members of the Who. Instead of being schizophrenic, he could be called Quadrophenic! Throughout the album Jimmy struggles to fit in with his peers, doesn't feel appreciated at work, the girl he loves doesn't even acknowledge him anymore, problems at home, his hero turns out to be a fraud. Even his favorite band, the Who lets him down. He finds himself in the middle of the sea on a rock when this song begins. Jimmy finally has had enough and this song is his prayer before jumping into the sea. Does he drown or become reborn? We don't know Wonderful reaction stacey!
Bright Angel Miss Stacey, I love the diversity of music and your heartfelt commentary. Thank you for all your hard work and the light you bring into our lives with your show. Say hello to your Cat.
Unreal ending to one of the best concept albums ever, it always is so emotional every time, and I've heard it over 1,000 times at least. It is up there with Stairway to Heaven for Rock at its pinnacle art form. At some point, you need to hear Quadrophenia in its entirety, it will blow you away as a complete saga and alter your musical experience. Awesome reaction as always Stacey, another great song by the WHO you need to hear is the My Generation jam off of live at Leeds, many tout it as the best raw rock performance ever by anyone, they are on another planet with their power and glory. One of the best live albums ever, you will love hearing it some day. Enjoy! Rock On! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎻🎶🔥
This is certainly one of my favorite Who songs as well. You would probably really like The Real Me, another masterpiece. As a bassist I’m in awe of Entwistles bass work on this track.
Hey, Stacey! It’s great to hear that you think “Love, Reign o'er Me” is such a powerful and emotive song by The Who. It's the final track on their rock opera album "Quadrophenia," released in 1973. The song is known for Roger Daltrey's intense vocals and the band's orchestral arrangement, which really captures the dramatic themes. One of my favorite songs from them is “Pinball Wizard,” from 1969's "Tommy" album, and of course, “Behind Blue Eyes.” When I was a youngster, that's what we heard on the radio. I guess people miss those times so much because we weren’t actively searching for it; it was just what the era brought us and what was readily available. The story behind "Quadrophenia" is quite fascinating. It’s a rock opera that tells the story of a young mod named Jimmy and his struggles with identity and societal pressures in mid-1960s England. I think we can all relate to that feeling, which is why it resonates with me. With The Who, you know what you’re going to get: a powerful, rebellious mood. They have a remarkable ability to create music that speaks to the human experience, and it's wonderful that their songs resonate with you just as they do with me. That's why I hold them in such high regard. Keep it up! and thanks again! To you and your channel! Waiting for the next reaction! Cheers!
1971 Who's Next comes out and is regarded as their greatest album 1973 The band says a collective "Hold my beer" and releases the masterpiece that is Quadrophenia.
INCREDIBLE !!!. THE WHOLE ALBUM AND MOVIE IS.... SUPERB CHOICE STACEY XX. PERFECT FOR ME ESPECIALLY FOR OUR SOULS IN THE U.K.TODAY FOR REMEMBERANCE SUNDAY 🙏🏻🇬🇧X Thank You x And
Having older Brothers and Sisters The Who was the most played in our house next to Pink Floyd. This song was my sisters' fav. between and of them they had All of the Who's Albums and still have them today. Your reaction on this video was Awesome to this Awesome Song Love It!
Jimmy, the main character of this song, and the album Quadrophenia, is a very troubled young man. Pete Townshend has said that Jimmy may, or may not kill himself following this song, and that it's up to the listener to decide how the story plays out. Thank you for another great Who reaction!
Quadrophenia is the portrayal of a young man in England who is split, not in two parts (schizophrenia), but in four parts by trying to live with four different facets of his life. The double album opens with an instrumental that introduces these four areas, and each is then "assigned" to a different band member. In this epic work, each of these aspects has its own "theme" song, and each comes up in different musical ways in different songs. I always thought of it as the most well thought out musical take on the angst of the teens at that time in that place, the struggles they lived with, the chaos of their lives. Gangs, parents, therapies, jobs, all of life. "I went back to the doctor, to get another shrink, "He said, 'tell me about your weekend', but he never betrays what he thinks." "Can you see the real me, Doctor, Doctor?" That is from the first "song" and is just about as powerful as "Love, reign o'er me" And there are so many powerful songs in this work. What another person said, that "Love, reign o'er me" is even more powerful after hearing the entire work, is very true. And I agree that this was their greatest work. They have so many great songs. Oh, and check out this song from one of Pete Townsend's solo albums: "Pure and Easy"
So glad you loved this song, Stacey. It really is yet another of the incredible catalogue of music from this band. The opening, played entirely on instruments, is reminiscent of a rainstorm beginning, complete with Keith on tympani for the thunder. O'er is the poetic version of over. It's pronounced the same way, just don't make the 'v' sound. In this case, reign means to rule - as in the reign of a king or queen. I do love how you caught the double meaning in the sound of the word, though. Brilliant lyrical wordplay.
Your music selection is amazing- you would've had a great time in the 70's, what a decade for music- classic rock. I lived thru it all and was alive to hear all this music when it first came out- priceless
"I've had enough" incorporates this song into it and is worthy. Hard to pick a favorite Who song, but 'Slip Kid' I could listen to over and over and over...
The Who has been my favorite band since a friend first introduced them to me when we listened to Tommy. So incredible for its time. Two years later they released Whos Next with the rock anthems Wont Get Fooled again and Baba Oreily. Again two years later they released Quadrophenia which is still to this day my favorite album by any band. Powerful, complex emotional and stunning social impact lyrics. Rogers voice on Love Reign Oer Me. Johns incredible bass on the Real Me. Keith was at his intense best throughout. Especially on the instrumental numbers Quadrophenia and The Rock. Petes compositions, song writing, harmonies and rythm guit
Love your reaction. Having seen the current Who live twice in the last two years, I can say that Roger still delivers on this glorious song even at the age of 80!
Allow me to echo what others have said... "Quadrophenia" is stunning, a masterpiece. I was fortunate enough to see The Who perform their rock opera "Tommy" live in concert but missed "Quadrophenia" in concert :( God, I love this music!
This is my favourite Who song, I too love the interplay / interweaving of Reign and Rain. The piano intro as you said, Stacey, beautiful. For me, this is THE defining version of the song. Although, I saw Pete Townshend's Quadrophenia orchestral production, at my favourite music venue (Royal Albert Hall), where opera singer Alfie Boe sang this, that came a close 2nd!
Watching you react to songs I have already heard reaffirms what I like about these songs. It is like listening to it with a fiend for the first time again. I thank you for all your videos and for all the other ways you interact with us. I am loving taking this musical journey with you. 🥰
Not only is the album Quadrophenia my favorite The Who album, and Love, Reign O'er Me easily is the best song on it ... I also really think that the movie adaption that they did is really telling the story with the music perfectly. All well thought and in the core it is timeless. Telling the story of coming of age, being different, first love, subculture and disappointment. Very well done.
Quadrophenia is the band’s masterwork. It’s a stunning achievement.
Oh yea.
I beg to differ.
I have Live at Leeds and Who’s Next above it,but great album nonetheless.
Whos next
Quad is no 1 😁@@TheCornishCockney

Many have said it, but Quadrophenia is a masterpiece. The album needs to be heard from start to finish. Listening to the whole thing makes the grand finale of Love Reign O'er Me even that much more powerful.
And the film Quadraphenia as well
This punk in the gutter agrees. And if you'll excuse me now, I have to catch the 5 15.
@gernblanston5697 It's their crowning achievement in my opinion. More depth and focus than Tommy.
It's a story. The punk meets the godfather was one of favorites.
And it should be heard in quadrophonic (four channel surround sound).
Pete Townsend has always said that no one can sing his songs like Roger
Pete usually trashes Roger in the media when asked. He also trashes Keith Moon's drumming too...
He better say that or he would get another proper Roger punch in the kisser.
I also thought that Roger once said that he may not be the best singer but he's the best singer for Pete's songs! As for Pete? He's a weird guy, he trashes everyone for reasons only known to him, I guess
True, but Eddie Vedder certainly did it justice.

+1 Quadrophenia is a true masterpiece of music and should be heard as a whole.
I 100% agree. A masterpiece. Although thankfully he didn't follow Mozart's fate.
He aimed high and achieved much, classics inspired many rockers of 6o’s and 70’s
There is only one thing i love more than the Who, it's watching people react to their music
I think that Pete means "Love reign o're me" as in a King or Queen reigning over a kingdom, so letting love rule over his life, and then of course "rain down on me" as in accepting and needing/wanting love to rule his life.
Absolutely
And Keith’s thunder at the end completes the storm effect.
Well said.
Yes that sense I get yoo
Very perceptive - think you nailed it
Just when ya thought The Who couldn't get intenser... SO many incredible tracks.

From the double album - Quadropenia. It’s their best work, after the early club years.
Love your reaction Stacy ❤
Quite possibly my favorite Who song as well. Your reaction perfectly encapsulates not only the power of the song but the power of music to truly move us. I love your reactions because you are very real- whether you like something or not. But your passion for music and what it means to you is infectious.
You'll absolutely love The Who the more you hear, as Pete is one of the GOAT in regards to song writing, just really next level stuff.
I'm sure others have probably told you...but this was the closing track of the album "Quadrophenia" (1973). It was a so-called 'rock opera' and was adapted to a film in 1979. It's the best rock album as far as I'm concerned. ❤️
This song is just... Beautiful!
This was the first song I played back in 1983, the day I got my new stereo.
Wise choice.
That's how to test out your stereo!
The Who is one the best bands of all time. Right in my top three. The writing, musicianship, stage presence, vocals… they have it all.
Quadrophenia Movie with Soundtrack from the WHO- see it since 1978? Love it
Ray Winstone, Toyah Willcox , Sting, Leslie Ash , Phil Daniels.
This masterpiece, along with "Won't get fooled again" are my personal favorites from The Who. Daltrey's vocal performance here is staggering : )
You excel in your reactions! i admire your ability to catch so much in just one pass of watching/hearing. I expect you will be around doing these reactions as long as you are willing to. Your voice is captivating as well as your beauty!
This is undoubtedly one of my top ten songs of all-time, maybe my absolute favorite. I want this played at my funeral. Great reaction.
Hey, Stacey.
This song is breathtaking in its volume of emotion. It says that love is as elemental as nature and the air we need to live. Its impact can drown or future the soul. The proof being in your response.
The Who were in the prime years when they recorded this music. But there is still more for you to hear.
THE REAL ME,
BEHIND BLUE EYES,
LONG LIVE ROCK,
and SQUEEZE BOX.
God damn I needed this so much this week. Your light is so bright, my love. Please know how impactful you are on making me and others smile. 😊
"Eminence Front" is my all-time favorite Who song
Ditto
Hi Stacey, I love your reactions, you really feel the music, and understand it. Your appreciation of the music I grew up listening to is a joy to see. Add to that the fact you are a beautiful young lady, makes your reactions unmissable.
Stacey, don't forget about the play-on-words in the song: He's singing "rain" but he is also suggesting "REIGN". As in, "Love, reign over me!" -- be my majestic Monarch of a love that rules over my world! There is also that meaning that comes through.
I love watching your reactions! Your channel is my newest obsession! Well done Stacey!!❤️
There will never be a music era like the 70’s. Being a teenager and listening to thr Stonesand Zeppelin and The Who and Floyd etc. man those were some great times
"Join Together" and "Baby don't you do it" (extended version) from who's next (deluxe version)
Quadrophenia, in my opinion Pete's masterpiece!
The emotion and power is because this song is really a prayer at the end of Quadrophenia
This rock opera is basically about teenage angst.
We don't know
Wonderful reaction stacey!
Definitely one of the greatest rock singers of all time.
I met John at a solo show in Cincinnati in 1995-ish , very nice , Love the WHO
Bright Angel Miss Stacey, I love the diversity of music and your heartfelt commentary. Thank you for all your hard work and the light
you bring into our lives with your show.
Quadrophenia is my favorite Who album! Great stuff! Love the way they recreate the sounds of thunder and rain.
I took my daughter to see The Who, two years ago. After 55 years, they still got it. Absolutely amazing live show.
EDIT: Subbed.
Cheers!
1971 Who's Next comes out and is regarded as their greatest album
1973 The band says a collective "Hold my beer" and releases the masterpiece that is Quadrophenia.
INCREDIBLE !!!.
THE WHOLE ALBUM AND MOVIE IS....
SUPERB CHOICE STACEY XX.
PERFECT FOR ME ESPECIALLY FOR OUR SOULS IN THE U.K.TODAY FOR REMEMBERANCE SUNDAY 🙏🏻🇬🇧X
Thank You x
And
Having older Brothers and Sisters The Who was the most played in our house next to Pink Floyd. This song was my sisters' fav. between and of them they had All of the Who's Albums and still have them today. Your reaction on this video was Awesome to this Awesome Song Love It!
Powerful! May rock reign again. Hello from rainy Portland, Oregon.
One of the greatest songs of all time.
Jimmy, the main character of this song, and the album Quadrophenia, is a very troubled young man. Pete Townshend has said that Jimmy may, or may not kill himself following this song, and that it's up to the listener to decide how the story plays out. Thank you for another great Who reaction!
O'er is poetic antiquated English. Often used for its romantic lilt. "My love lies o'er the ocean."
I have been listening to the Who for 50 years, and this song has been my favorite of there's since the first time I heard it.
Right there with you, the greatest live band ever
Roger also really shows off his pipes in the song "Bargain."
One of those songs that made me a fan for life (no other band even came close, lyrically or emotionally)!
"I went back to the doctor, to get another shrink,
"He said, 'tell me about your weekend', but he never betrays what he thinks."
"Can you see the real me, Doctor, Doctor?"
That is from the first "song" and is just about as powerful as "Love, reign o'er me"
And there are so many powerful songs in this work.
"See Me, Feel Me / Listening To You" is the final song from the movie "Tommy."
A must watch‼️
I'm 61 and this is one of my top10 Lifetime songs
I'm 59 and I agree.
Your music selection is amazing- you would've had a great time in the 70's, what a decade for music- classic rock. I lived thru it all and was alive to hear all this music when it first came out- priceless
Great song, one of the best by The Who👍👍
Great Song from a Great album!!❤❤❤
Guitar work. Do listen to Tommy in its entirety as well. Keiths drumming on that album is some of the greatest of all time.
When I saw them in Hyde park a few years ago, this for me was the moment I wanted...me my daughter and my son together listening to the Who.....epic!
One of the greatest rock vocals of all time. Looking forward to more reactions from the WHO :)
Absolute brilliance from the first note to the very final note 🎤🎤🎤
Thank you... Nice to listen along to the songs I grew up with and see your appreciation. A different kind of music...
Watching you react to songs I have already heard reaffirms what I like about these songs. It is like listening to it with a fiend for the first time again. I thank you for all your videos and for all the other ways you interact with us. I am loving taking this musical journey with you. 🥰
With a fiend………done that many times in the 70’s!
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸Saw them in concert 80 and 89 and this is my favorite Rock Love song!🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Seen them twice many years ago, great concerts. 👍👍
