I love NK Jemisin! You're starting to see it. All their MVs have many layers. ARMY is there for the deeper conversation. You aren't overthinking it, it just takes work to get the lyrics, which are always way more interesting than you think. Then you start to learn what's going on and there are so MANY threads to tug. Girl don't mind me me binging you, but about the scar, this is not the final answer BUT at the time this came out, this is what we knew: kings during this period were not allowed to be king if they had any marks on their faces, so the fact he is the king while having a scar shows he is a tyrant that doesn't listen to no rules, and then you see him behead people and that really drives the point lmao.
