In a world of sentient robots, striving young inventor Rodney Copperbottom (Ewan McGregor) wants to work for the avuncular Bigweld (Mel Brooks), whose Bigweld Industries makes spare robot parts. But Bigweld has just been deposed as company head by the villainous Phineas T. Ratchet (Greg Kinnear), who wants to make all robots submit to profitable forced upgrades. In this animated adventure, Rodney and his friend Fender (Robin Williams) go underground to fight Ratchet's evil plans.

Seeing the comment section, I'm so glad that many people actually like this movie. I thought I was the only one. I know a lot of people don't like how over the top it was, but that's what I loved about it as a teen and even more now as an adult.

Robin Williams singing “I’m a Little Teapot” and the lamppost dying from Aunt Fanny’s fart are honestly my favorite parts of the movie. Also it was Ewan McGregor who voiced Rodney, the dad was voiced by Stanley Tucci
This movie was way ahead of its time! The humor is top-tier, and the story promotes hard-work and creativity to pursue your dreams! Not to mention how well the animation holds up! That domino scene is a masterpiece!
It also shows how unless you a once in a generation genius capable of inspiring a revolution the owners of capital will erase your voice or existence with methodical inevitability.

Speaking of dvd menus, this movie had some of the best mini games on it! I loved the one where you build a robot that makes domino patterns!

If you think about this movie hard enough It's pretty much a commentary on how Medical stuff should be beneficial for everyone not just the people who could afford it.

One of the most underrated movies of my childhood
While I loved this movie, it was absolutely weird seeing robots do things like cry, choke, and be knocked unconscious.

I just notice something : when Cappy says " I must be out of my mind " it's exactly like Quasimodo when he goes with Phoebus for find Esmeralda
pretty much everybody says that at some point in their lives.
The robots wear chassis instead of cloths so when Rodney asks "Are these my big boy parts," and his father said "These are hand me downs," because of that the chassis is not made to fit him that is why it looks really weird.
How old is Rodney by the way ?

20:25, ok, I never cracked up this much because of a single scene. This whole cut was SO FUCKING RANDOM and I LOVE IT
Watching this made me remember, the version we got in Australia (probably not just us) had some differences. Aunt Fanny or whatever her name is, was name-changed to Aunt Fant (It could have been Aunt Fan or something like that, I never looked up the spelling, I'm just going by ear). And for some reason, Fender's girlfriend had a different voice actor. I think the name is because, some people found the word Fanny to be offensive. Not sure about the voice, though.
In the french version it's Aunt Fanny

One of Blue Sky’s best films and one of my favorite movies. It’s a shame that the studio shut down, thanks Disney!
That was stupid of them to do that and they think Disney owns fox and everything when that's not true
To be for they did it to themselves. They had some good movies like Robots, Ice Age, and Epic. But they also made Rio, Horton Hears a Who, Spies in Disguise; and way to many Ice Age Sequels. On top of that, those movies we’re kind of following the trend of what everybody else was doing at the time, making them generic. Add this to more competition with Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks, they’re doom was eminent.

I love Robots! It’s one of those crazy movies that make sense to me, even within this crazy world that we live in. Which is totally weird, that if we were Robots, it would be this movie as a metaphor.
Also, hearing the Audio commentary on the movie is just wonderful to hear little details.

pity it wasnt nominated for an oscar but some annie award nominations for its visual aspects
Me and my grandmother love this film I even have somewhere in my house a Rodney Copperbottom 7" figure I got when I was 5 to 6 at Toys R Us man I loved taking the removable head off you could even see the circuits I am glad you liked the weirdness of this film and I enjoyed watching you react great job.

My mom met Robin Williams in Thailand when they were filming "Good Morning Vietnam"

4:05 Easter egg! A robot version of Sid the sloth from Ice Age.
I don't know why but this reminds of the movie Repo: The Genetic Opera, where people have to pay for organ replacements due to a organ failure epidemic and they get hacked if they miss a payment. This makes me think of a potential sequel for that where organ replacement isn't enough anymore and the rates have gone up, so certain people have been secretly building prosthetics from whatever they can find(scrap/junk/whatever)and eventually that evolved into the 'Robots' civilization cos the robots needing spare parts and getting captured to go to the chop shop works the same way.
