Thank you for all the explanations of working with chiffon right down to the needle size. Love the quiet, measured style of the presentation allowing plenty of time to take notes! I have not used the spray stabilizer before (except for spray starch) so looking forward to trying that. The narrow zig zag stitch should definitely cut down on broken stitches - can't wait to try it all out!

I would recommend sticking with your regular presser foot. Depending on your machine, often the narrower zipper foot doesn't sit directly over both feed dogs, so it can have a harder time feeding the fabric through evenly.
I really like this video style. Helpful tips. Great to see Sarai in action (and finally learn how to correctly pronounce her name!)... Loved the different take on a Seamwork pattern. I hope we see lots more of this kind of inspirational content. Also great that the video wasn’t too long. I much prefer 10-minute videos. The only thing I didn’t like was the background music... it wasn’t very soothing, quite stressy to listen to! Otherwise, yay for Seamwork on TH-cam!!

Do you spray the fabric one one or both sides with the fabric stabilizer? Do you spray lightly, medium or heavily? (The music was loud enough it was a little diffitcult to hear your voice.) Thank you!
Really helpful and interesting,full of the facts you need. However,the background music needs to be lowered as its fighting with what your saying.Also,I know it's fashionable to photograph you from the side as your speaking but I would rather you talk into the camera as it can be off putting. Obviously,this does not take away from the content which is brilliant and yes to the baby hem.
Some things I've learned from recently sewing silk... If you don't have spray stabilizer, sandwich your fabric between 2 sheets of tissue paper Use Satin Pins and pin within the seam allowance A walking foot works wonders on slippery fabric...it's not just for bulky stuff! You can also use a zipper foot just as easily Sometimes it helps to up the tension on your feed dogs to help move slippery stuff though. Love your new channel, btw! Happy Sewing!

So helpful thanks! I found this video because I was having trouble hemming semi-lightweight rayon, your beautiful silk is 100 times more challenging than my problem! So now I feel more confident that all fabrics are possible! Because you guys are obviously capable of high-quality production of your videos, I bet your channel would get a LOT of traction if you made basic skills videos, like a baby hem tutorial. I see you are already doing that, and it really stands out compared to the home videos here on TH-cam, where it's hard to see the action happening near the needle.
You'll want to pretreat your fabric in whatever manner you intend to wash the final garment. If you want to know how a fabric might shrink or change in a wash, throw a scrap in a cycle and note the difference. Make sure you measure the scrap before it goes in so you have measurements to compare it to.

Lovely video and great tips. I love that you have started a channel on TH-cam! Please do more close-ups on details of fabric and the garment. Aside from the volume of the music which could be a bit lower so it does not distract, when you do a close-up on the presenter it would be nice to have her look at the camera. There were too many times you focused on her face and she was always looking at the other camera. Wonderful idea please keep these videos coming!!!

At last ! so pleased that we can see you, hear you and learn from you on this platform. I never thought of using stabilizer for soft fabrics (heavens only knows why not) !!! so I gave up sewing with soft fabrics so this is a great hint for me. Also would like to see a video on how you do a "baby hem" please. Many thanks for sharing your tips.
That's ah-mazing! Love it to the bits - really. Saw a lot of videos and clear and non-rushing pace, great advice and all in all impression all together create a great video, wanna watch each and every next one. You have a lot of tutorials and sew-alongs but video of this quality makes me wanna try and do something new. Never thought of Laura pattern in that way so any tutorial or pattern hack will be great. I love, love learning from videos, so I am thrilled to see Seamwork on youtube. I thank you in advance for working hard to offer them. Here are some of my positive impressions on your first video: I love the hostess. She is lovely to look at, and has a nice body to be able to see the outfit/clothing clearly. The background is nice and pleasant to look at. The lighting, sound, and video quality are great. I'm so glad she mentioned the specific brand of spray and there was even a close up of it (although it was a bit hard to make out since she was shaking the can at the same time). So glad there was also mention of the specific needle size to use and a close up of the packet of needles. The side by side comparison of the untreated and treated fabric was really helpful. Some things I think would be helpful in future videos are: When the camera is doing a close up of the hostess's face, make it a front face focus. It was odd with her speaking but we could only see the side of her face and or head. Also, no distracting music needed. Thank you Seamwork!

Helpful video, but music is super distracting....
You can always turn the volume off and closed captions on if you're finding the music distracting. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
