I like the more approachable/realistic home, where it seems like a young single person who spent a lot to buy the house, and tried to update it to the best of her time and abilities, including more affordable furnishings and decorations that honestly read as fresher than many super wealthy designer homes.

Agree 100%. It is a very realistic home but with lots of love and thought put in by the home owner. It is nice to see wealthy designer homes once in a while but for the majority of people like me, I enjoy this episode a lot more than the others. This one truly shows that with patience, an eye for artistic pieces, you can have an amazing house without dropping a fortune.

Love this!! So impressed with the owner’s skills to renovate this home while keeping the original fireplaces and designs in the home. I love all the thrifted items as well. She has a gift for being able to see the potential in the house and the items/ furniture she recreated. This is so much more interesting than the designer homes!
I think I could buy this home just by walking over that little entrance footbridge and seeing this amazing house, with the little gazebo on the side!!!!! The mature trees and brick walkway! I am in love ! A little antique gold Rub and Buff on that living room fireplace ornate detail would make it pop and add interest. The blue butlers pantry with the wood built ins and, I would definitely have had at least two barstools on the window side for friends to talk and enjoy you preparing something. The leaded windows in the sunroom are incredible!!!! There is an old Victorian in my town that does tours throughout the year... and the room you now have as a downstairs bedroom with the door to the outside... is used as a library and game room... set up with a chess set and antique stained glass lamp ,and great old upholstered chairs and tons of books . It's amazing. I am a homebody too. Love house projects or just enjoying my sanctuary. But.... I could never stay alone in a home of that size all by my myself. Even with dogs.....it would give me the creeps.
The homeowner is lovely and seems to be thoughtful. She is blooming where she is planted. I admire her use of thrifting and estate sale finds. Well done!

Just FYI….Batik is actually fabric that has been waxed and dyed!! And mostly on pure cotton.

Batik is a wax resistant on fabric method. Encaustic is usually when wax is mixed with pigment or the wax is placed over the pigment.

I love the initiative that Stephanie has shown in fearlessly taking on this house as a project. It sounds like she does not want it to be her forever home, but often states, "the next person/owner". If she is heading toward mid-century modern...I would recommend she check out videos of Jill Sharp's home...who I am a huge fan of her aesthetic. I was not a fan of that olive green fabric on the living room wall...but, it works for her and she has synchronized the furnishings in that room to blend it all well. Happy hunting Stephanie for that "forever home".

Stephanie, I emailed my grown daughter who loves to flip houses, your video address for her to watch. I too absolutely love to decorate, move furniture around, make curtains, entertain, etc. and I'm 76 now. I have been in this home for almost 3 years. It's not my style, but I could afford this home in an expensive small town in Camden, SC. I've spent quite a bit redoing the home, updating, remodeling the kitchen, and so forth. My problem is that once it is all done, I want to find another challenge. I think we are kindred spirits. We, too, love old stately homes (my last was a 1939 2 story with a basement in the art deco style. This home is just a cottage type rancher with a sunroom on the end. My daughter and I love mid-century modern, so that might just be my next challenge. Best wishes for your next adventure.

Off topic, but: What beautiful hair she has!! The house, mh, I don' t know what to say. She put in a lot of work, respect for that. But to me it didn't work out that well. I think she did her best to find furniture that matches the beautiful woodwork in the house, but to me it is a bit sterile and there is a lack of harmony. And I also think like some subscribers also mentioned, that it is kind of a real estate commercial. But anyways, the Lady is creative. All the best to her🍀 Greetings from Germany 😊

Awesome job. A huge project. You can go on forever or spend more money than you have and part of the project is the trade offs to get it finished. What a wonderful remodel/restoration.
Almost every piece in my house is refinished or refurbished since early 80s. It makes me so happy to see young people appreciate antiques and vintage. My motto has always been renew, reuse , repurpose, and it's good to see people doing that.
If you watch videos of designers from 70s, 80s, 90s, they have always utilized used items. Bravo. Love Homeworthy so much!

Homeworthy, the price identifier that pops up in the lefthand side of the screen is a bit annoying and could be a tad offsetting to the homeowner. She's super proud of her treasures, as she should be!!! But, there really isn't a benefit for prices... the audience can screen shot an item and do a Google photo search, if they're really that interested... With that said,

I actually know this house and first came across it in 2006 or 2007, then again in 2018.
That's not Kuba clothe and that's not the only cultural area and use of Kuba clothe across West and Central Afrika. Kuba clothe does not have a sheen like that from age. Did it ever occur to her to contact the Carver Art-Cultural Museum in Austin? Instead of going by the tons of misinformation about Afrikan artifacts by people who aren't Afrikan/Black... Just sayin...

Beautiful home. A great job was done decorating the house with great finds . One of my kids furnished his apartment with free items from Facebook marketplace and the likes. Some really nice things and some valuable items can be found if you have time to look.

This home is actively listed for $475k. It would take alot of money to undo the renovations and do them right as well as the other needed restoration. The grounds look unkempt, the fence is falling down, and the neighboring houses are an eyesore. Maybe it would appeal to some buyer who wanted to escape Austin's crazy market but it would be a hard no for me.

All the I untouched woodwork is very nice, but her choice of color is boring and bland. The wall fabric in the living room needs to be changed. I do give her credit for all her hard work she put into renovations.
The more variety across the board would do so much to educate people , so i think a mix of variety from several locations would be in order. I do enjoy this channel 😂

Oh, but the houses are not all the same! This Victorian could be found (almost) anywhere in the lower 48! It’s not like they are all decorated with cowhides and saddles!
