Knowing Darius's strengths and weaknesses is not a big issue for toplaner, but you can't guarantee that other 4 members of your team know them as well (especially in low elo). Same goes to Katarina - many midlaners know how to counter or not feed her, but still they lose games where enemy Katarina is fed.
which is the reason why Darius is so good in low elos. Some noob engages on Darius 1 v 1 , then the teamfight starts with Darius having 5 stacks passive for free.
The phrase raid boss does justice to the description of this champion, just like raid bosses his abilities can be easily avoided and hit hard. Also he might not be a jax but when he gets ahead the enemy team would resemble adventurers in Darius' domain.

@@Zac-fu2qc Darius isn't really much of a teamfighting monster. Actually, as an Irelia main, I can say he's one of the easiest match-ups. He is so exploitable to the point that if you can stack your passive first is a free kill, since you attack faster and deal as much dmg as he does. Also, he is one of the easiest champions to engage, bc he needs to positionate (very predictable) in order to attack. You just basically let him push until you are level 3, get all the cs under tower (something that irelia does quite well) while stacking your passive; then you just bait him to pull you off (use your W wisely, not so difficult since he is very predictable) and the you just use your E and attack for free, dodge his Q with your Q and it's one skill less to worry about. You just need to be patient and find the right moment.

But exception or ranged top adc or mage like Karma, Lulu, Lucian and Vayne and such, most bruisers or tanks coming top perfers long fight and they must fight long for proper trade. For example, new volibear need to use w often and maokai relies on damage with sunfire and his passive. And Darius will always win against long term combat against them except when they have ignite to reduce his healing but he still has chance to win. 2. But if you avoid fight perfectly while not being ranged top champ, then you can't cs because he can just w auto e auto auto q 5 stack. When you pull lane for it, you will lose cs still and gap between darius and you will get bigger and bigger until Darius plans for big move using flash or ghost which works great. as a shen main i pretty much understand that not fighting darius is the best way to survive, but tbh i just keep permabanning him bc of how he gets to win lane from champ select and be ahead just because he picked darius. usually i can deal with other champs, even counters, bc although some can wreck me, i can still weave in some space to get cs safely and not die. but man, if you walk up to take cs you will just be pulled in by e and then he can q for free. you will then die through autos and his ult bc you also get slowed a lot. this wasn't a rant, but explaining why i personally permaban darius as a shen main :)
I was about to say I have almost NEVER seen a Darius then I remembered I play top and ban him every game. I don’t even think about it anymore, it’s pure reflex lol
@@shodore No not proud. I just legit don't even think about it anymore. Which isn't good since there are much bigger threats to my Shen. But ever since this video and I realized I've been banning the same champion every game for years without even noticing, I have been changing up who I ban
I'm literally looking at a Darius build right now and all of his major threats are ranged champs. At best, if you play melee into Darius can MAYBE go even. Bottom line is in season 11, that champion pretty much has no weaknesses unless you count playing Vayne top into him as something he's vulnerable to. With Ghost, Deadman's and now Stridebreaker, there is nothing you can do to kite him or outrun him since he runs at you at Mach 10 and if that doesn't work, he now has a dash in his kit that's on a shorter cooldown than a lot of other champion's normal abilities. His weaknesses that you're supposed to be able to exploit no longer exist when he can just force fights with high movement speed and a dash that will also slow you. And if you can't get away, well he has his pull. Before you were kind of forced to choose between using his pull as an engage or as an escape preventer but now you don't have to make that choice. And on top of being such an easy champion to play, he's in a situation where it doesn't matter how many mistakes he makes because he only needs one good play to kill you, while his opponent has to play essentially perfectly because one mistake on their end means death. At the end of the day, he feels like an extremely cheap champ to fight and is just generally unfun to go against. I usually permaban him top but with Sett being just as unbalanced for pretty much the exact same reasons, I basically get screwed either way. If I ban one, I get the other. And with stridebreaker champions completely dominating the meta right now, I don't expect things to get any better anytime soon.
@@lazarblanusa6622 It's gotten to the point where I can't even play Garen anymore because the lack of damage is too jarring. Well, lack of damage compared to Darius anyway.
Literally every option of outplay is don't fight or don't get close to them. Meaning u spend the entire laning phase turret hogging ,2 lvls down, 50cs disadvantage so u don't Insta die for walking to getting minions. Idk now delusional ppl have to be to call this balanced and fair gameplay. Same shit with ilaoi and u will get one person saying his balanced when his winrate, playrate and ban rate beg to differ.
it might be the fact that i started the game one tricking him, but he is actually beatable. Outside of many darius players being kinda poor at wave control and picking fights given they win most if not any when they hit 5 stacks, there is plenty of characters that straight can beat him. From mobile people like aatrox or q poke and barrel slows with gp or even sett who can kinda consistantly get out of his q sweet spot and shield punch with the dmg darius does. I have lost in the year or so since i stopped only playing darius a lane to him once or twice. Then again, this is my experience and doesn't count for the whole player base

So, let's be fair. Fucking up against Darius is more punishing then fucking up against anyone else. That's why he is considered op(because he is with how much mobility he has nowadays). Ghost+Celerity+Nimbus Cloak+Stride Breaker (and sometimes phase rush, dead mans+force of nature) it is almost impossible to not fight him, and definetely impossible to *RUN* away. I agree with him having clear weaknesses, but if he is fair that doesn't mean that he is balanced. His E just makes it too hard for a close-up without instant mobility(like Rivens' 10^23*3,14 dashes) champ(Sion, Camille(even though she is next level broken), Morde etc.) to dodge the Q, so basically counterplay goes away(no rythm intended).
Oh it's possible to run away. At least if his Ghost is down or you're LeBlanc or Zed or something. Otherwise I'm noting how I now eat Ezreal for breakfast when he use to just E to run away.
He is just broken and will run you down with ghost( 8:54).Also passive is canser to play(230 bonus ad at 18 and huge base dmg, after kill instant 5 stacks+massive true dmg).Bleed are free black cleaver stack, regardless of in-build 30 or 30% armor pen.

Darius for me embodies all that I like about a champion; good at all stages lf the game while excelling early, having potential to win a teamfight single handedly, being easy to learn and play well while having mechanics to master them effectively. Infact since moving from adc to top he's similar in many senses to mf(good early, not overloaded, getting effective use out of q by timing them right and potential to win a teamfight with good ult usage) who I used to main bot lane so that help as well.
My darius is god of speed. He can go in, kill a carry and go out practically in a blink of an eye. Assuming I'm fed..... If not, I still can do it but in two blinks of an eye :p
Darius requires more skill than you think. I know some people joke about how easy it is to land Q, but it really can be harder than it seems. There's a reason Darius loves tenacity as a stat so much. The ability to land your Q without getting cc'ed really is the difference between winning a fight or losing a fight most of the time.
stride breaker, wait out his E cool down, Ghoast, Kennen simply not having the damage to kill you, theres a few reasons why darius doesnt lose to kennen even tho he should
Back when Kennen was still good he was the top counterpick to Darius. The main reason he isn't anymore is because Riot just kinda forgot he existed. Nowadays if you lose to Kennen as Darius it's because, as Vars said, you didn't understand Darius well enough.
It's not that you counter him by not fighting him. It's that you counter him by continually bursting him and then dashing back out before he can do anything. This is why Riven and Fiora have long been considered counters to Darius. I mean, it's a bit hard to see because they're such difficult champions, but at higher elos they tend to beat the shit out of Darius.
"Darius isn't so bad if you don't fight him... and dodge his q... and his e... and if you don't focus him in a teamfight... I mean if you do focus him in a teamfight..." Like I get that you're defending a fav champion of yours and stuff but Darius is completely overloaded and gets the world on a platter for free.
Wait so isn't cho a Juggernaut rather then a tank? He's got insane base damage and he can just build full tank but does insane damage when you build him offensively
Cho SHOULD be a juggernaut, but he's technically classed as a tank. Riot really needs to rework him into a proper juggernaut. I want more AP juggernauts.
I mean I think a main factor is also that people like bs early game characters far more than the weak scaling ones. Noone likes to be beaten up in game right?

as a shen main i pretty much understand that not fighting darius is the best way to survive, but tbh i just keep permabanning him bc of how he gets to win lane from champ select and be ahead just because he picked darius. usually i can deal with other champs, even counters, bc although some can wreck me, i can still weave in some space to get cs safely and not die. but man, if you walk up to take cs you will just be pulled in by e and then he can q for free. you will then die through autos and his ult bc you also get slowed a lot. this wasn't a rant, but explaining why i personally permaban darius as a shen main :)
I was about to say I have almost NEVER seen a Darius then I remembered I play top and ban him every game. I don’t even think about it anymore, it’s pure reflex lol
You say this almost like you are proud of being bad
@@shodore No not proud. I just legit don't even think about it anymore. Which isn't good since there are much bigger threats to my Shen. But ever since this video and I realized I've been banning the same champion every game for years without even noticing, I have been changing up who I ban
My bronze ass aint gunna kill that walking tank.
aged like fine milk
Darius in s11 with stridebreaker: haha Q and movement speed goes brrr
And then they gave him a dash. The End~
and then they removed the dash, the end
his Q: *i heal you blead*
his W: *i cripple you and you bleed*
his E: *GET THE FUCK OVER HERE*
his R: *you a tank? no hp for you*
"extremely limited mobility*
*garen* lmfao
And this still holds up in 2021 apparently
Now stridebreaker is dead, but hey darius galeforce is the new meta
Can you talk about Lux next? I would love to talk about her since the beginning
For me personally I think the reason I like Darius so much is that he plays like an improved Garen. At least I think that's where it's rooted.
True man, I legit swapped from garen to Darius when I improved from a begginer player
@@lazarblanusa6622 It's gotten to the point where I can't even play Garen anymore because the lack of damage is too jarring. Well, lack of damage compared to Darius anyway.
Ban Darius every game. He’s been to strong for to long.
Same shit with ilaoi and u will get one person saying his balanced when his winrate, playrate and ban rate beg to differ.
cancerous champ unfun to play against
it might be the fact that i started the game one tricking him, but he is actually beatable.
FIORA BAN FIORA
@@ugandanyesuyt5104 Illaoi can be beaten, dodge her skillshots, and Darius can be only beaten with Gnar.
He is very strong at due to his passive. In fact, all melee champions can't even win at lv 1 by duoing him.
I think tahm kench can lvl 1
@@thedalynews7004 I dont think so, I have fought him many times 1v1 from low to high elo and most often than not, tahms refuse to fight lvl1, ones who do give first blood.
@@TheKp639 He can if the darius doesnt take ignite and goes the auto attack reset lvl 1. Very specific but doable. Tahm can also win if he misses the grab.
@@thedalynews7004 any one the knows what they are doing will take ghost and start q on tahm. Bronze, silver, and maybe gold might mess it up but I wouldnt say tahm can consistently win against darius 1 lvl
Great video can’t w8 for more of this series!
He is most definitely a Darius main
A champion made for infants, cant change my mind.
i wanna see one for my main sett sometime
When he came out, everyone played him, now that he's nerfed into the ground, no one plays him
@@DrLocko Unfortunate because he looks like someone I'd want as a secondary or tertiary main after Darius and maybe Mordekaiser.
@@blackknightjack3850 i mean sett doesn't give anything that darius or morde dont have
I dont know if this has been secertly fixed but theres a slight bug with darius if you dont kill someone with your ult if they die liek 0.5 secs normally to your bleed it wills till give you the refresh i had this happen more often than not but you have to be the sole dmg dealer if its a teammate it wont give you the refresh.
Let's just say... *Darius Gaming*
11:37 The screen getting covered with stats just as the fight got exciting 😭😭😭
Mailed Darius before I quit League a year ago, well made vid
9:08 being too close is hard to pull off, seriously, I hug darius players when they do that and they still get a hea
Don't forget he always wins Lane regardless of who he is fighting against
These are stupidly entertaining
Darius is the Dark Knight of Capatilizing
Hey vars
I think your videos are very cool.
You always bring it over so easily. Are you going to make more videos in the future?
You are pure inspiration.
I'm looking forward to your next video.

Of course! Thanks for the kind words :3
200 years is the reason.
Dunkmaster Darius is the reason everyone plays him
4:11 It is very ironic now, considering Mundo can get about 500 from his e If he ults at lv16 and heartsteel.
9:12 lol that sylas is crazy
Equating Udyr to low mobility just makes my head hurt
Cause its the best champion in the game period. true.
Late: But a champion who take no skill to play but can still 1 vs 5 is broken and needs a nerf or even a rework
Took a lot of words to say unga champ.
Damn came back after a few yeats and it seems like some angry poppy mains found this comment
Yo hold up, is that the ashen wolves theme from 3 houses?
Fuck yeah
The best house let's be real :3
Because he is an ultimate badass
My darius is god of speed. He can go in, kill a carry and go out practically in a blink of an eye. Assuming I'm fed..... If not, I still can do it but in two blinks of an eye :p
The only juggernaut with full tank that can one shot carries
Illaoi with a 5 man ult into w says hi
WHY everyone plays sett please
The series should be called: Why everyone plays no skill champs
Or fun champs who can solo carry .
@@blackknightjack3850 funny how almost no one is saying anything about your arguments
@@monke3659 Was what I said THAT stupid?
His passive is broken, that's why people play him, and he will never lose a trade because of it
its funny how the thumbnail is of lunar beast darius but it was released Jan 2021 and the video is aug 2020
Everyone plays him cause he dominates the laning phase, but sucks on macro in the end.
Story of my life: "I won lane what do I do now?"
Please do a “Why is my channel so criminally underrated
Haha I appreciate that! XD
i really enjoy all your vids man u are a real pro
Wait how did you get his lunar beast skin in the thumbnail, when this video is 6 months old. This skin is brand new. 🤔
You can change your thumbnails
Played against kennen with darius. I was destroyed. 3sec stuns and long range made me almost kill my self
stride breaker, wait out his E cool down, Ghoast, Kennen simply not having the damage to kill you, theres a few reasons why darius doesnt lose to kennen even tho he should
Back when Kennen was still good he was the top counterpick to Darius. The main reason he isn't anymore is because Riot just kinda forgot he existed. Nowadays if you lose to Kennen as Darius it's because, as Vars said, you didn't understand Darius well enough.
A lot of my pentakills before came from Darius.
Darius is fair. How you ask? Because you can counter him by not fighting him! Yah no that champ is dumb
He has a clear effective counter works all game long just ban him .
You telling me, to counter darius, I just musnt play against him
seriously, am I the only one who thinks that aephelios gun synergies are easy to understand and strait forward?
Still waiting for Why no one plays Veigar Day 10
really a fan of your series, its the only ones I watch and why im subbed to be honest :D Would love if you do Yasuo one day
I am no Darius main, tho I prefer him as an ally than my enemy. His steroid buff is scary to fight against. Especially with idiots as teammates.
"Darius isn't so bad if you don't fight him... and dodge his q... and his e... and if you don't focus him in a teamfight... I mean if you do focus him in a teamfight..."
Like I get that you're defending a fav champion of yours and stuff but Darius is completely overloaded and gets the world on a platter for free.
Wait so isn't cho a Juggernaut rather then a tank? He's got insane base damage and he can just build full tank but does insane damage when you build him offensively
Cho is "Specialist" - mix of many classes
Cho SHOULD be a juggernaut, but he's technically classed as a tank. Riot really needs to rework him into a proper juggernaut. I want more AP juggernauts.
Cho is a tank cause he can't avoid skillshots late game, so you need survivability
Wow, someone who plays league and realm 🤩
Because:
B R O K E N
Next: why noone plays Darius
Darius has been an S+ tier pick for over half a season by now, and he never gets nerfed! wtf
Some dogs hate Darius because some dogs can smell cancer
Easy once you get your pasive procked one Q can win teamfight. Hes strong, almoast without weakneses. Except for caiting.
I mean I think a main factor is also that people like bs early game characters far more than the weak scaling ones. Noone likes to be beaten up in game right?
Now no one plays Darius because they nerfed him indirectly into the ground.
I have a deep hatred teemo that’s why
Yes
2:44 seeing hextech glp feels weird
