Okay I have spent 7 years in college, 13 years in the health field, 9 of those years in surgery, and this hands down is the most genius thing I have ever seen. I have bought the little orange ones that are made to do this job but they only come in 22 and 30 cal. Not to mention cost, I like some of the odd calibers like 450, 458, 6.5, 338, and 375. This will be utilized often!!!!
Thank you! That worked perfectly. With very subtle movements of the gas block in and out and radially I was able to feel the hole alignment when it was centered!
@@FriendM2010 it works the same way. plug the chamber and blow into the muzzle. you can hear the air coming from the gas tube. Rotate the gas block back and forth and you can hear the airflow increase / decrease at the gas tube in the upper receiver. easy peasy.
@@jwilsonhandmadeknives2760 or you can just slide a straw… or air tube over the gas tube in the upper receiver and blow on that, instead of sticking your mouth on the end of a rifle barrel.
I use a toothpick and just cut it enough with a razor blade so once it's installed I can break it in half with the pushrod, good idea with the pasta....Thanks !
Imagine if your gashole is gaping, completely out of spec, or so tight it may hurt your gashole. An undergased gashole, ouch for the rest of the system.
I came back years later now to let you know, this trick saved my buddy and I who was trouble shooting a short stroke issue for two weeks on his new build. We finally got around to realign the glass block with zero issues. Also you don't even have to break the noodle, just shoot it.
I’m going to use this when I install my AR-10 barrel, but just as a heads up, that “play” you mentioned is side-to-side wobble with the noodle moving around in the gas hole. You should consider splitting the difference with that wobble to get it fully aligned vertically along the barrel. Sitting all the way back on the shoulder like that might not be fully aligned.
Had its maiden trip to range a month ago. Worked perfectly. Ejection consistent and strong. 👍. Big relief. I shoot a rh setup left handed. 😳. I like my face and prefer to keep it. 👍
I used 2mm pencil lead. Cone shape each end before using. When you get alignment done and gas block secured, break the lead, retrieve both pieces. Double check for cone shaped ends to insure all has came out. Visually inspect inside the barrel to confirm. Spaghetti was to thin and offered too much sloppiness.
This IS clever, but c'mon guys... Order a gas block dimpling jig (I like the Kaw Valley Precision myself, $28) borrow you stepdad's power drill, and install that GB right and proper.
The only time I will not get in trouble for putting my noodle in a gas hole.
Your comment the wins day...maybe the year...LMAO
Thank you for this.
I read this before watching the video and I laughed every time he said “gas hole” and “noodle”.
Milldawg J
U made sure it was still rigid and hadn't been pre soaked!
U my friend, are a true trigger man😎
Respect
That’s just all kinds of wrong………………, but humorous.
Directions unclear AR ended up in a fully cooked lasagna, switching to ak platform
I have not laughed this hard at a comment in years.
Hilarious 😂
Same! This orange cat keeps trying to eat my rifle.
you gotta be shiting me, that is a stroke of genius
Holy crap. This is genius.
That is lowkey fkn genius. Beer the man.
One problem... Ur not supposed to butt the gas block up against the barrel shoulder. This involves the "play" he talked of
This is honestly the most useful build tip I have ever seen! Thanks! Solved a complex problem with a simple solution. I owe you a beer!
Now that’s what you call thinking with your noodle...
Hahaha! Perfect!
That's using your noodle indeed..

Hahaha... Thank you very much!
flat out stupid simple... I feel dumber for not thinking of this myself.
Cheers! Elegant solution to a head-scratching problem!
I'm not sure where you learned that... but in my eyes...you are the new man..the myth himself. Thank you so damn much for sharing this.
Love that shirt of Milo... Haven't ran into anyone that listens to Descendants in a while! Your build is looking nice too dude
Doing everything I can to hurry up and complete my 2 builds, trying to get a 80% finishing jig, but they're so expensive just to use once
I use a gas block dimpling jig, not only lines up the gas port but prevents any slippage or rotation.
Give this man a beer 🍺.
A large bottle of Fine Sipping Whiskey, his pick.
Literally the best video about aligning a gas block
Thank you! That worked perfectly. With very subtle movements of the gas block in and out and radially I was able to feel the hole alignment when it was centered!
Yep. I'd say find both sides, split the difference. Do this for sliding and rotation. Good enough.
this might be the answer i need... bravo either way.
Brilliant, now I feel stupid for not thinking of that. But you brilliant. I love these kind of tips. Thanks
Pretty cool.and creative. I like to plug the breach and just blow into the barrel. You know its aligned when you feel max air flow thru the tube.
How do you do that with an assembled upper? 🥴
@@FriendM2010 good question 😳
@@FriendM2010 it works the same way. plug the chamber and blow into the muzzle. you can hear the air coming from the gas tube. Rotate the gas block back and forth and you can hear the airflow increase / decrease at the gas tube in the upper receiver. easy peasy.
No blowing in the gas hole. It tickles.
@@jwilsonhandmadeknives2760 or you can just slide a straw… or air tube over the gas tube in the upper receiver and blow on that, instead of sticking your mouth on the end of a rifle barrel.
This is the funniest, coolest and smartest gun building tip I've ever seen
Great addition for also dimpling the barrel too
Mmm. Now I am hungry for spaghetti!
This video may be the best gas tube alignment video on TH-cam!
Hey, thanks man! I appreciate it!
The Ol' Noodle in the gas hole trick.
Great shirt! Descendents are my favorite band. Great video too.
Nice shirt! Descendents fan here too!
You sir have saved me years of struggling on all my builds! 🤙🏽
Happy to have been of assistance!
Dude this just turned something I was dreading having to do into something stupid simple lol brilliant!
I use a toothpick and just cut it enough with a razor blade so once it's installed I can break it in half with the pushrod, good idea with the pasta....Thanks !
Now, I gotta make phone call and apologize to that guy that told me to break off a noodle in my gas hole.
lmao
Genius idea
Dude.... Thank you. You're a damn genius.
My guy this is brilliant
I give this the Italian stamp of approval.
Came for spaghetti, stayed for gas hole.
Imagine if your gashole is gaping, completely out of spec, or so tight it may hurt your gashole. An undergased gashole, ouch for the rest of the system.
You had me at gasshole....

That will push a small piece of spaghetti through your gas tube, may not be a big deal, just something to consider.
@@ryanm595 yeah we considered it. But it's got almost a thousand rounds through it now.
I'm glad it helped! It's a silly trick, but hey, whatever works.
Subbed your channel just because of this one video. Thank you.
That's an interesting way to cook Spaghet
Dude, Brillant, saved me a ton of wasted time and testing
Love the DESCENDENTS shirt! Good to see another 2A friendly punk out there!
Thanks man! My favorite punk band, ever.

Good to see we are not the only ones! Now there are 5 of us lol
Dude. Thank you so much for sharing, Ill remember this for next time! Like those glasses by the way.
Love the decendents shirt bro!!
I like this better than the toothpick method since a noodle will break easier
THIS IS BRILLIANT!!
Very slick!! Gotta do it on a wednesday spaghetti day though..
Just used this trick it worked like a charm.
Great idea! Gonna try that!
Little hillbilly but hell it works. I came for the spaghetti.
lost my job when kitchen cook discovered missing noodle.
Milo! Great shirt man!
Instructions unclear. Delicious red sauce now in barrel. Please help

Glad I'm not the only one that noticed.
lol this is the brilliantly simple solution i was looking for ty
Made me hangry
OMG- It worked perfectly! Thank you.
No problem! Happy it helped!
Darn it, I eyeballed it a week ago. I think I should smoke test it somehow. Hate to have my first AR blow up in my face. 😳. Great idea!
It won't blow up. It'll just be undergassed.
Had its maiden trip to range a month ago. Worked perfectly. Ejection consistent and strong. 👍. Big relief. I shoot a rh setup left handed. 😳. I like my face and prefer to keep it. 👍
@@FriendM2010 keep that eye-pro on, brother.
Your eyes are directly in a potential path for brass, better safe than sorry.
GENIUS!!!!!
Only complaint is that the set screw closest to the barrel nut should be tightened first. Otherwise, good stuff.
Best to buy the dumpling jig & it be 100%
dude that's genius!
That’s a really smart trick ! 👍🏻
But where do i get a single spaghetti noodle? Please response soon.
That's very handy
How many beers did this man earn?
He said gas hole. Hehehehe.
You sir are living in the year 3030

Freaking BRILLIANT!!!
Great tip!
As the Brit’s say BRILLIANT ! 👍👍
Brilliant! Great job!
Great idea bud.
Well done. It's a lot cheaper than the little plastic "tool" that one can buy for $20 to do the same thing.
That was fuckin tight! Right on!
lol....great tip man....great tip.
I use an allen wrench that fits snug
My noodle is too big to fit!
Genius
Simple and elegant!
thumbs up for the shirt. good video too.
Brilliant
Killer idea dude...
That was awesome info!✌
Good idea.
You got this tip from the Italian army?
SERIOUS question, Angel Hair or regular spaghetti? I think this is really cool.
It was just regular spaghetti. Angel hair would probably give it too much wiggle.
Outstanding!
What if it doesn’t fall back down and it stays inside the tube..Would it blow into the bolt carrier key? Just curious.
I did the same trick, but with plastic toothpicks.
Use your noodle🧠👏🏼
Effin genius!

Can I substitute Rotini for the spaghetti noodle?
