Did you ever figure out what was wrong? I bought versa tuner for my 2006 rx8 replaced engine and trans with low mileage but when I stripped the engine down to rotors I noticed it was ported and polished. I’m thinking my ECU also has tune
That's an admirable effort you are putting in. But in my decade long experience, the RX8 is not a Honda. And I mean it's really not. It's difficult to get these cars to cooperate when they don't want to, and they do have problems. I've invested 20k into mine, and it's still not quite how I would like it. But yes, as you mentioned, they are some of the best handling/running cars on the road. They are known to eat coil packs, a company called Black Halo Racing sells good replacements, but not for cheap. If you are saying it's misfiring, does the check engine light flash when it does? Do you still have any stored codes? If the OMP is not functioning correctly, it will go in "limp mode" which may be the cause. Also keep in mind, until the engine is warmed up, it won't let you rev it up past a certain RPM, I think around 6k RPM is where it will cut out. Also, check the throttle body for free play and make sure the MAF is clean. Can also clean and test the eccentric shaft sensor, and do the "20 brake pedal stomp" reset. And I'm not entirely sure what happened with that intake, but the factory RX8 intake is actually quite good. There's no need to change it if you have a complete one.

good question...I have no clue but it was removed from a dudes yard that lived on a dirt road....
Put the stock air filter and intake back. Aftermarket intakes do nothing and make it run like crap.
