The back of the craft is dragging because the hover propeller is too far forward. This is causing the air to escape more towards the front of the hover craft, not filling the back of the cushion as much as the front. It's uneven air distribution. That's my theory though. Thank you for the videos, I've learnt a lot from you.
Paul, this a simple fix. You need a drag flap tapped to the bottom extending out towards the rear of the skirt, all you need is a piece of heavy duty trash bag. This will stop the water scooping. Also put holes at the bottom of the skirt to let water drain out. Hope you try it! sincerely, JVR r/c hovercraft
Skirts for water hovercrafts are actually inner tubes that are already filled with air. So if you turn that skirt to an inner tube it should work fine, also add more weight to the front and more power.
and you could vector the air movement to the rear of the craft with a couple louvers in the curtain cavity redirecting small amounts of flow ,therefore limiting front inflation.
Another idea would be: put three sheets, 2 generating the hull and one would create the cover between the hull and deck just leave a space millimeters, just enough to pass air, inflating the float.
I am building a hovercraft from a adult boogie board and am using a softly inflated bicycle tube for a skirt. Used cable ties to fasten it but may have to glue it to the bottom instead.
Hey bPaul, could you possibly close up the skirt at the front and back of the craft so the air is being blown around the sides to get the lift you want, closing up the front and back would also give a faster airflow at the sides which might also compensate too :) great job man, hey summer here in wales is the best its been for 75 years so a good flying summer i think with some videos to catch up with everyone haha.
you have the curtain blower throttling with the pusher throttle just put the curtain motor on one constant rpm it was trying to lift off the water with every pulse of some good throttle yur welcome
the two plates with which built the hull should be pressurized or sealed, he makes holes in the side hull, as high as possible. If there is the problem of lack of pressure in the float, it could increase the size of the holes, and if there is the problem of water ingress into the hull, you could do a back holes in the bottom of the wall, to expel the water.
your only problems are weight ballance and needing a better skirt this hovercraft will work very well without mods just ballance it out and make a proper hovercraft skirt.
I think I know how to improve your ship. The air inlet filling the float being an as high as possible. these inlets must be something small to give pressure and keep out the water. In addition to the model would have to give one more way to ship.
I have a hovercraft how do u trun on the air for the (air bag ) under the hovercraft? By remote control or what? Before I remember just trun on the on and switch and the air just come on by itself but now nothing.
Hello, My father has a real hovercraft. He has a something like a cloth in the back. Then the water will flow under the cloth and not in the skirt. maybe it will work.
tape down the skirt to the bottom of the craft in the rear....thus eliminating the huge water scoop but keeping the balloon cushion of the air....problem solved...
To be fair your issue isn’t “holes on the inner side of skirt” that option is if you don’t fill the under space with direct air flow, like your are... your issue was balance, it’s back heavy letting the air escape from the front... balance is key for a model like this. Just an FYI, channelling air flow through bag holes is actually more efficient than direct area fill, as the bag is loosing pressure randomly, suggest building a vented air bag, not direct hollow air fill with working skirt to give you better performance.. sorry no vids like it on my channel, but check out my working micro rowing boat... just so u know I’m not full of shit and know a few things about rc water fun 🥴

thats awesome! i had one of those when i was a younger and i was thinking of that idea as well. I believe the skirt was also made out of rubber too.
The skirt indeed needs to be donut shaped with holes dotted around on the inside
Well at least you had the stones to try it out on the water man ;-) good luck if you do another one and i'll keep my eyes open for that, thumbs up.
Hey, that was a pretty good test!
I anticipate your modifications!

Nice. Triple thumb up. Thank you.
The rear skirt should be vertical & should be able to move up or down according to the contour.
Have a nice day
I think the lift motor is sucking most of the air that the thrust motor is not sucking enough air to thrust the HC forward.
I'm thinking that lift fan should be right in the center, and balanced evenly from there.

When it works, it works well! Maybe just make it extra nose-heavy?

Seal the skirt to the hull. Put a series of holes on the forward half on the plenum side of the skirt.
I think it's too much heavy on the rear... good thing is check the CG.
its really nice i want to make one but u need more weigth in the front

to, and need more weight
Yo nice video guys. Too bad it didn't work well on the water. I'm sure you will come up with a design that does.
Awesome video.plz tell me what rpm motors have u used in it.asap

WHERE DID U GET THE PROPELLERS
You need to try a tube skirt like they use on full size hovercraft.
Absolutely, you ar correct.
What batteries you used in your hovercraft ?
Why is there no spin due to horizontal motor???
Could you please post the plans?
good.... and..He needs a larger air bag?
jose puga or more long fringes...?

would it be possible for you to make a video about that? I dont know what a plenum is.
A plenum is an air chamber - in context, it's the area under the hovercraft, inside the skirt.
Also, I still think the greatest challenge for you guys would be a hydrofoil!
it needs weight in the front to keep the nose down
Why can't he just put a little hole in the back of the skirt or seal the skirt at the back
i put a weight ar the nose it wouks really good and the best on water
cool
It wasn't a complete disaster.
👏
It just needs a nitro motor.lol
weight foreward! Please
PUT A GYRO ON THE RUDDER SERVO!!
glue the back down with grola glue
make 2 holes in the back
Yea
2019
dont work
2018
le una cagada....!
