Do Those lightbringer has a boss or something? Or is it something naturally occurring?
@@alvinvalentino5797 There are bosses, lightwardens, each controlling their own sections of the world. That winged boi isn't a lightwarden.
Weird shit with the light happening because their heroes were just too good at their job, a general gist of it. Naturally occurring since the balance is heavily favored towards the light and that's the result of it.
I'm just explaining it for someone who doesn't play the game. Shouldn't be too spoilery either.

I always love seeing an outside perspective of Shadowbringers in particular: it very much is "light" and "darkness" flipped on its head, where the symbolism of good is evil, and the symbolism of evil is heroic. In other words, the confusion is by design!

Y'know, your Mom kind of makes a decent point about all the aether looking like souls. In a manner of speaking, that's sort of what it boils down to in the end.
Yeah, knowing what we know in Endwalker, it's entirely believable that Louisoix was unintentionally gathering all the souls' released aether/dynamis in the area to funnel it into his last attack
That’s a violation of the natural order, souls may be made of aether but to manipulate them in such a manner is a taboo in this world. While not intentional, the implication is quite terrible if you understand the truth of the matter. Aether is a unique form of matter since it is both spiritual and physical, and behaves as both matter and energy at the same time.
@@acgearsandarms1343 the implication isn’t “terrible if you understand the truth of the matter.” You *go and fight souls of the departed* and you’re explicitly told souls don’t maintain coherence for very long, depending on their strength. The average soldier is already going to be frayed beyond coherence minutes after death. And if they were coherent then how many would say “no” if you asked them “wanna save what’s left of the world? You’ll die. But you were dead anyway.” It’s like you paid no attention to Fourchenault or Emet-Selch.

Also, the music at this point, departs from English, into Dragon speak. And has an actual translation to english as well!

She should try playing! She looks about the same age as my parents and they both play. My mom never played anything past Super Nintendo before this. She mostly enjoys crafting and housing and loves the story, but not so much the dungeons and trials. She likes to do fates, though. She plays phys ranged and smn. 🙂
Louisoix is probably the most under utilized character in 14. if you didn't get to experience him in 1.0 ( which 99% of you didn't ) you basically got cucked out of a fantastic character you'll never get to interact with unless they decide to bring him back after endwalker who knows.
I mean, he's dead. What more can they do with him?

To be fair, though; Flames of Truth is not the trailer to ARR. We never got to know what happened there at the battle until the raid. At least you did pick up the 5-year timeskip part.

The fact that she was able to get so much of the game's theme just from listening to Answers, not even knowing the lyrics, is proof of how amazing the game's music is. And your mother's a true fantasy fan!
When she made a comment about the souls giving themselves to our beloved master... That actually made me think a moment. While it wouldn't be their souls, all of the aether of the combined dead could have gone directly to a source that was absorbing it. Hence, Superelf. Interesting. EDIT: Also. That’s actually a horrible thought. People don’t use souls as an energy source for a reason. Souls go to the Lifestream to be reborn. Using souls in unnatural ways is a taboo.
@@acgearsandarms1343 I said the Aether. Not the soul. The soul would be stripped of aether and the soul would return to the lifestream. Though what we would term a soul, our memories, personality, skills, et cetera would be the aether itself, not the soul. Souls act more like... aether generators. Though we have seen that memories can be carved into the soul on certain factors I'm not sure about. Once the soul returns to the sea the aether is slowly stripped away from it and becomes part of the greater whole. I don't know what that means for an afterlife, either its something we cannot know, or they simply have the lore and they haven't told us yet. As long as it isn't like WoW's afterlife.
@@acgearsandarms1343 As for using the actual soul being taboo. When in the world has that ever stopped people willing to break it? In the end, we have no clue what a soul is really in FFXIV. I've no idea if a soul can even be caught.
@@CrystalPrelude Actually they do explain it in Endwalker. True, aether is not the soul, but a soul is composed of aether as all things are according to aetherology.
@@acgearsandarms1343 Very true. I forgot about that. Even though souls are made of Aether, they are apparently... different. As even the Ancients couldn't create souls. They seem to occur under certain triggers, but no one has a clue what those triggers are. We know the "core" is different, as the Dotharl believe in reincarnation. That when a Dotharl dies, their soul will find a fetus of the tribe and inhabit it. How they can tell its the same soul, or if some traces remain, I don't remember. I like the fact that souls are a mystery beyond basics.

The player character is represented by that guy in the trailers cuz someone has to stand in. But the player character hero can be male or female and of any playable race, and the game recognizes it too in dialouge.
The theme of Shadowbringers is Light is not neccesarily good, and Darkness isn't neccesarily bad. that's one of them anyway.

Loved watching this. It was super sweet and dang of Answers doesn't make me cry every time. Fun little easter egg on the Shadowbringers trailer. If you watch the derplander's class changes after the initial flashback to the end of Stormblood, you will notice he uses the same class order he did in the trailers starting all the way back in 1.0's original trailer.(Look it up)

I'm a 55-year-old avid Final Fantasy player who got pushed into the game from her mom, I resisted because I'd played so many other Final Fantasy games thru the years. Yeppers, my MOM plays Final Fantasy with me! I'm so glad she convinced me to start playing 2 years ago. This game is great for any age, get your mom playing!!!!
You should tell your Mom you know a 70 year old lady who has been playing FFXIV since 1.0. If she decides to walk in the Light of the Crystal, I am willing to start a new character with her. 😊

I wish you'd have spent more time discussing the trailers with your mom! I'd have love to hear her thoughts on the meaning of different elements of the trailers, the story it was presenting. Especially leading up to Shadowbringers.
This makes me miss my mom. She was the only one that cared about my gaming hobby enough to do stuff like this. My dad couldn't care less but he's got more traditional hobbies so I can understand his dislike for video games.

I feel like it's important to know it's the dying wishes of the soldiers and magic left by the heroes failure to stop the dragon that imbued the last one standing
To avoid the "he's strong because old sage", it's not just cool and badass, a lot of meaningful symbolic in there
She's got great intuition: the souls of the dead with louisoix is not far off, heavensward and arr were effectively more about withstanding and stormblood about protecting from the empire
