Xbox 360 has a 30FPS cap, while PS3 is uncapped at 60FPS. Even with the cap difference, both run almost identically on native hardware. When I say identically, I mean both drop to extremely low numbers. However, in this day and age, the best way to play the game is on an Xbox Series X. While the resolution remains at 880x720, the framerate is boosted to 60FPS and it runs absolutely great! It is night and day compared to original hardware. Also, the loading is much shorter. The high frame rate does a massive service to the game’s amazing art direction and lighting.
On multiplat games, Xbox 360 usually destroys PS3. I have both and always prefer these games on Xbox, mainly if they are backwards compatible on SX too (I got one). But in general, I still play a lot the 360, there are tons of games without trophies on PS3 - but have achievements on 360. I got 1000G on Dead Space 1 and I'm playing Simpsons The Game to get 1000G now, both have no trophies on PS3.

Xbox 360 does better here. Although it's capped at 30 FPS, it runs consistently better than the PS3, i.e. the Werehog stages. The textures seem to be slightly sharper on the 360, the saturation and contrast pop a little more, and the game has unique loading screens when changing the time in the 360 version. Other than that, they're very close.
I think the PS3 version is better than the Xbox 360 version for these reasons ( at least now in 2024 ): 1. If you put the console at 720p resolution you can improve the framerate and reduce input lag, some people even play on CRT TVs to force the game to run 480i at 4:3 which reduces the weight on the GPU, some stages As Rooftop Run and Cool Edge can even run at almost locked 60fps this way, there is a post about it on the Sonic Retro forum. 2. The PS3 is extremely easy to "jailbreak" unlike the Xbox 360 which requires a hardmod and it is possible to overclock the PS3 and gain 10fps more in the game, there are even some videos comparing it and the difference is quite striking, it is even possible to do so the game runs at locked 40fps which feels great. 3. It is possible to apply mods that reduce some graphic effects to improve the framerate in the PS3 version, you can take a look at gamebanana. Obviously playing on Xbox Series X or a powerful PC is much better, but I would easily say that the PS3 is much better to play than the Xbox 360 simply because it gives you more options.
@@MoonSarito in 2024 the ps3 version is literally the worst one to play since you can play the 360 version on series x and have 60fps, or you could emulate the ps3 version and have 60 fps. also i dont think its a selling point for the ps3 version to make it look uglier by changing the aspect ratio or removing graphical effects, just to have it somewhat smoother. like at this point literally just emulate it for someone like me for example. who has both a 360 and a ps3. if i dont wanna emulate it, id go with 360. because the saturation is much better and the framerate is more stable as well without uglifying the game, not to mention, IF id ever get a series x one day, i have the best version right out of the box
Sonic Unleashed, my favorite game in the SEGA franchise, since the first time I played it as a child. and the tremendous budget that they put on these 2 versions is incredible, it's a pity that most people didn't appreciate this Epic Game in its time and that years later immediately became the best Sonic Game. I don't know if it was hypocrisy or if they rectified.
I like the Xbox 360 version better. The colors are more vibrant and the framerate doesn’t really bother me that much. Plus I grew up playing the 360 version so there’s some bias.
This one's a hard one, but Xbox 360 since the Load times are quicker, Graphics look better, and the performance is (slightly) better than PS3 because of the 30fps cap.

The ps3 graphic is absolutely the worst, with lower resolution, lower shadow resolution, lower post-effects quality, and the worst texture filtering. Yes, it is unlocked, but the framerate goes down 30fps very often.

@@louispluspizza The switch is quite powerful to handle the 360 version, if it wasn't it wouldn't have games like zelda botw or Xenoblade lol, They also made a port of the witcher 3 and it runs pretty well for being such a huge game.
I prefer the xbox 360 version and yes it was on 30fps but at least it kinda looked better and didnt lag every 2 seconds when something else gets on the screen.

Xbox 360 is slightly more colorful and has a tiny bit higher resolution(or at least it looks like it) and the shadows are softer, but I think the higher frame rate on PS3 makes it the better version

Is anybody gonna bring up the loading screen differences between the Xbox 360 and PS3? In the PS3 version, when you select "Wait Until Day/Night", the loading screen is just a moon and sun medal flipping (it changes per flip). In the Xbox 360 version, we get these Hedgehog-Werehog transformation sequences we get to watch. "Wait Til' Night" is where we get Sonic turning into a Werehog, whereas "Wait Til' Day" we get the opposite.

360 easy because It’s just looks better in my opinion I still remember getting it for Christmas in 2008 as a gift I was 16 years old when I played it and it was amazing still as of now my favorite 3D sonic game ever

I prefer PS3 because it doesn't have a weird green tint over everything like the Xbox 360. (And because I played the PS3 version and it has uncapped 60fps and personal bias)

the reason why the xbox is more colorful is because it uses a thing which people call "piss filter" which makes the game look a little greenish-yellow. This is easily noticable in skyscraper scamper day. The buildings looks a little yellowish in xbox while it looks gray in ps3

Now to compare here, The Xbox 360 had sharper visual. Check at 1:20 and you will notice artifacts such has fan in windmill is missing on Ps3. Even PS3 is unlocked 60 fps, the framerate is very inconsistent. The 360 even though has 30 fps, its locked and gives you much more stable and smoother experience. Sony implemented the cell processors in their Ps3, which sounds superb but was equally difficult for devs to utilize its potential. Devs just thought its worthless to even try (unless its ps3 exclusives like Uncharted 2,3). 360’s hd dvd was what annoyed Rockstar during the development of gta 4 because of ps3 having much spacious Bluray. But that’s it. More devs were even annoyed by the ps3 cell processor architecture. I am a Pc gamer and I am not blindly supporting xbox here. It is what it is.

The cap there was for a reason, just cos they ps3 was capped at 60 frames, doesn't mean it should of been, the Xbox 360 ran the game significantly better with faster loading times and less fps fluxuation The PS3 had a lot slower loading times + it wasn't as smooth as the xbox
Honestly it wasn't... its obvious that the 360 is the best however the second best port of this game is the ps3. An even worse port is the ps2 and the worst of em all is the wii.

@@WllKiedSnake Actually the PS2 and Wii ports are the same version of the game, it's the graphics that are different and the Wii port is superior in that regard.
Its because v-sync is disabled on PS3, so the target altough is 60fps it will not mantain the frame pace as consistent as the 360, Also it can cause screen tearing I believe the best way to play this game is on xbox one ,s,x and beyond, it is retro compatible
@@baguete02 Yep on my Xbox one X it’s perfect Solid unless I do Jungle joyride Act 1 or DLC Act 1-2 on that Water section were it spikes 5 frames down. Xbox Series X/S can turn FPS boost on and the game is 60fps locked of what PS3 tried to do.

Funny cuz ps3 had more power, but was difficult to work on it so just a bunch of games demonstrate the power of the ps3 such as killzone saga.

I played on PS3 first for this version And wasn’t too shabby except for that Frame rate and longer loads compared to Xbox 360
I like the ps3 version because the textures and the color more white if has in this version

Ok ive played sonic unleashed on ps3 and clearly this guy has lowered the quality for the ps3, first of all, playstation and nintendo won the console wars. why? BECAUSE IT HAS BETTER RATINGS. typical xbox fanboys.... note: btw sonic forces running animation is from ps2 sonic unleashed

@@lexiaantwi2400 you do realize that the ps3 version is an uncapped port of the 360 version, and uncapped framerate isn't good, plus, it takes longer to load than the 360 ver

Looks the same but ps3 is not capped at 30
The cap there was for a reason, just cos they ps3 was capped at 60 frames, doesn't mean it should of been, the Xbox 360 ran the game significantly better with faster loading times and less fps fluxuation
The PS3 had a lot slower loading times + it wasn't as smooth as the xbox

360 on this. PS3 was a bad port on this game.
Honestly it wasn't... its obvious that the 360 is the best however the second best port of this game is the ps3. An even worse port is the ps2 and the worst of em all is the wii.
@@rubie.id.celcuis1661 The PS2 and Wii versions are pretty much different games though with different level design and world design. There isn't even a hub in those versions. Where's in PS3 and 360 you go into small hub towns and explore.
@@rubie.id.celcuis1661 Wii version is actually better than PS2 graphics wise. Playing with a classic controller it’s identical gameplay wise to PS2.
The PS3 version is the best because of the two versions it is the smoothest and the PS3 version can even hit 60fps at times.
Less demanding stages like Cool Edge (Holoska Day) even manage to maintain a constant 50-60fps on the PS3 which is a much better and smoother experience than the 30fps on the Xbox 360 version.
@@WllKiedSnake Actually the PS2 and Wii ports are the same version of the game, it's the graphics that are different and the Wii port is superior in that regard.
Ps3 has 60fps, especially in the snow level Cool Edge
But sometimes it can get around 10fps
Its because v-sync is disabled on PS3, so the target altough is 60fps it will not mantain the frame pace as consistent as the 360, Also it can cause screen tearing
I believe the best way to play this game is on xbox one ,s,x and beyond, it is retro compatible
@@baguete02 Yep on my Xbox one X it’s perfect Solid unless I do Jungle joyride Act 1 or DLC Act 1-2 on that Water section were it spikes 5 frames down. Xbox Series X/S can turn FPS boost on and the game is 60fps locked of what PS3 tried to do.
@@baguete02 Regardless it's an impressive feat for ps3. Sony are absolute fools when it comes to backwards compatibility, I'll admit that. I would love to put my rightfully owned Unleashed ps3 disc in my ps4/ps5 and run it.

The game Remember Me has Physicaly based Rendering and the best reflections ever seen on it, it actually put even some games with ray tracing to shame .

The CONTRAST issue of the PS3 is just BS. PS3's colors and contrast requires a more dedicated time to setup for different screens.
