I just received rogue Fougere L’Aube , it is very close to Paco Rabanne pour homme. ... but better🤔, I also received a sample of Mousse Illuminee and I believe I too will need to purchase this , great video 👍
Manuel of Rogue recently commented on basenotes, saying he had a suspicion his fragrances were actually within IFRA regulations. So, he had them sent to be tested and they indeed, are compliant. The implications of this I think are interesting in what it says about the most the rest of the industry.
Oh this fragrance...I feel like eating my arm whenever I'm wearing it. What crushes me with these smaller niche houses, especially the non-IFRA compliant Rogue Perfumery, is that batches can vary in terms of finished fragrance's nuances year on year, so if you're familiar with the fragrance any 'tweak' at all is screamingly noticeable and thus, INTENSELY disappointing when you realise that note you crave is just no longer there, or altered considerably. The sample I had of Mousse Illuminee (which is the one which I became almost addicted to sniffing :D) contained an intoxicating, glorious squeeze of invigorating mentholy mint, almost a lemonade sweetness mixed with that bracing pine forest airiness, barbershop soap and discreet animalic note. My new bottle smells more like a drier, flatter version of the fragrance without that juicy 'squeeze' of sweet menthol-mint and pine juiciness that would run through the composition like a breeze of sweet green Vaporub...like wet sweet leaves, the pine needles and mint vibe mixing with lemonade is the only way I can describe it. I'm incredibly disappointed and can't figure out a polite way to asking Mr Cross what he's done differently with the latest batch. And crucially, PLEEEEEEASE bring back the older formula if you can. I'm sensing it's not done by design but due to the raw ingredients he's using currently. How to frame this request and passionately earnest compliment... I left this long comment on the off chance that just ONE other fan who's been familiar with Mousse Illuminee for a long while has also recognised the small but critical change in formula and is equally as underwhelmed and disappointed by it. Thank you for this upload Matt! Hope you're enjoying the sunshine...whilst it lasts ;)
If you got the new black box then you have the reformulated bottle... This particular smell you mentioned is not present in this new version! From the ingredients list on the black box is missing a specific ingredient (maybe is Lyral)...
@@valantiskontos2407 THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Yes, I got the one in the black box. You have no idea how relieved I am to have read about your similar evaluation/response. I'm delighted that you took the time to offer your thoughts. I feel the same as you: if Mousse Illuminee could remain the same as it used to be then I'd buy this masterpiece for the rest of my life and possibly even order multiple bottles with each order-- and I'm fine with a price increase it will ensure a return to the original formula. However, I doubt I'll buy it again if this new version is here to stay. Incredibly disappointed. Nobody likes a terrible version of something they genuinely adored. Think of anything you can in this context and the crushing disappointment and frustration is easy for anybody to imagine and relate to. Thanks again. I'll hope you'll find me online and tell me if you find something as good as this, an alternative 'dupe' of sorts (NOT a clone house offering though as I don't buy from clone houses on principle). Cheers!
Is there no level of perfumery left where I can buy a frag that got rave reviews as little as three years previous and not be disappointed when I get the reformulated frag? At no level does the bait and switch stop!?
@@markperkins9445 I actually feel full-on chimp rage whenever I even THINK about the Mousse Illuminee reformulation. Genuine anger. I used to love it but now it has no dimension; it's just extremely bitter, green, bone dry and one-dimensional. All the fullness of character has been punched out of it and it's lying flat, just the most horrible, intensely disappointing fragrance purchase I made during the last couple of years. I don't wear it anymore because that once glorious oakmoss note (in the original formula) is now so overdosed and shrieking, so horribly piercing that it brings on epic nausea headaches. It's just FAR too strong. It's a terrible fragrance now, nothing like it used to be and I resent that I won't ever get an honest acknowledgement or explanation by the perfumer. I'm not imagining this. Thanks for leaving your comment-- you will always have my understanding and empathy regarding this issue making an unhappy appearance in YOUR life.
I left a long, fervently eulogistic ode to Mousse Illuminee in the comment section here ages ago so you're definitely not the only chick who has 'a thing' for Mousse Illuminee. You're so right about the retro 1970s/1980s vibes-- it's why I used to love it so much (not anymore, the new formulation is awful). It made me want to drive a dark green coloured MG convertible to a log cabin in the woods then grow a Burt Reynolds 'tache and have a rustic outdoor shower before taking Paulina Porizkova out for mulled wine and 'smores by a campfire. I'd be butch-ing out with Mousse Illuminee and Paulina would be drenched in another 1980s throwback masterpiece: Une Nuit Magnetique by The Different Company. I love that one too with an overwhelming passion, which astonishes me as it's not the sort of thing I normally like either. Have you tried it? It's at the other end of the fashion world's gender-stereotype-binary and whenever I wear it I feel like I'm in Beverly Hills circa 1987...wearing a polka dot shirt with built-in shoulder pads, clacking up the pavement in white stilettos, walking my borzoi and carrying shopping bags from Escada, Christian Lacroix and Yves Saint Laurent. Duuuuude! 😂✌
I personally believe that Mousse Illuminee is vastly superior to Beach Hut Man. I do really enjoy the first ten minutes of Beach Hut Man, but then it goes into a completely different direction to Mousse Illuminee. Great review!
Thanks for the comment, i guess it could be classed as a Chypre but anything as green as this will always be a fougiere to us. Glad you like Mousse though. Its an important fragrance.

I am wondering if Bon Monsieur smells like Platinum Egoiste by Chanel?
And if Mousse Illuminee smells like Polo Green
I see that mostly men wear this parfume but to me as female..this is my go to..i adore this parfume..its so retro
Oh it definitely smells amazing on a woman , you have great taste
Unless you have one of the first batches there might be a reason for that. It has been reformulated to junk.

Great review!
You know what I might have to agree with you there. Although I do love Beach Hut Man in a big way
Mousse is something special though
what are the two fragrances you mentioned before beach hut? didnt catch it. at 2:50
Orto Parisi Viride and Halston Z14 my friend
Isn't this classified as a Chypre? No lavender in here... Regardless, this is one of the best perfumes recently made. The hype is real!

@@QuestioningScents thank you, but sadly they don´t ship to Czech republic :(
@@rightlyguided2201 Oh so sorry to hear that buddy. If I have any other ideas I'll let you know
Is it as bright as polo modern reserve?
Yes mate
Just order a bottle after this review
You will be in for a treat buddy
While I enjoy your content, yours is one of the quieter channels, I have to crank up my speakers to a slightly dangerous degree.
Is this available for shipment from the USA to Europe? I thought this could not be bought in Europe from European stocks?
I bought it through Etsy and it was shipped from the US to the UK.
@@QuestioningScents Thank you. With this line sticking the thumb in the eye of that fragrance board, I wondered.
Did you ever get a full bottle of Mousse Illuminee?
I sure did buddy 😀
@@QuestioningScentswhere did you get a full bottle in the UK
