Who would hate or dislike clones of exorbitantly priced fragrances other than those who have vested interests in those companies or who have bought them for a status symbol? Long live the great clones for spreading the wealth of fragrance to the common people!
I disagree with you, honestly I do buy clones on occasion, but it's obviously an intellectual theft. That being said, so is everything else we buy (capitalism) so why should clones be the exception? But I understand completely why someone would have an issue with them. But if those people have an issue with clones they also need to have an issue with all the other things that they buy that are copied from the person who invented them.
I live in the UK and recently got into fragrances and have started my designer collection pretty quickly . I do not have the money atm to try Niche but I really want to get a clone so that can push me even more like you to save some money and get some . Thank you for that awesome information on these especially for people in the UK because most Frag channels kind of only say where you can find fragrances in US and they forget us :D . Never the less sorry for such a long comment I have watched only 3 videos of you but already subscribed to you and to The Fragrance Apprentice . Love your content . Hope one day I can grow my collection like you and maybe even start a channel . Respect
I had a girl genuinely confused and ask why I would “want to smell intentionally unattractive” while wearing Tuscan Leather. I had to explain to her that for the price I paid, she’s going to have to get used to smelling it
I definitely agree with your thoughts about Alexandria, them and pocket scents are my go too’s.ive not smelt Tuscan but I didn’t particularly like ombré leather so im guessing that’s a pass for me.I too have a video about clones in the bank just needs editing.I definitely liked your harder approach at the beginning it definitely needed saying.Another good Sunday video to start the day 👌👌
I have to agree with you. As you pointed out, clones have been my gateway introduction to many of the originals. Genre has introduced me to so many blends /scents I would probably not have ever pulled the trigger on purchasing. I believe clone houses allow many people to experience such a wide variety of quality products which lead into the search for some of the originals.
Great show, Frag-Mental. Agree regarding Alexandria's quality for the price - and their originals are fantastic. In the US, Dua has 15% running a Lot; I usually end up at $1.60/ml or less; they beat discounted prices for Memo Paris Russian Leather, a fougere that I really like for fall / winter office, daytime wear. Brits are lucky to have Parfums Vintage - I heart their "dark" Elysium version, Evolution de L'Homme Soir, for fall / winter day wear as well - less vanilla sweet to my nose, than original. Also love Alexandria The Godfather / Baraonda - what a beautiful scent - need to order more.
As an aventus wearer i understand why people look for clones as its more expensive than a hard drug habit i just like buying the original for personal satisfaction knowing ive worked for it . The only issue i take with it and why i dont personally invest in clones is that i dont want to financially suffocate the companies chances to innovate and create new fragrances as that is a costly venture ... i understand me alone wont make a blind bit of difference in terms of how much creed etc make but if everyone had the same mind set and bought clones we wouldn’t get anything new to clone ! Should i be younger and have less disposable income i would totally be fine with buying clones
I'm a big fan of Perfume Parlour (huge range) and Precious Pearls. Not living in a big city where its easy to sample niche or uncommon designer scents, the clones are a great (and cheap) way to discover new favorites. If I find a clone that I love then I sometimes buy the original, something that would never happen without the clones. Most recent clones that I loved so much I bought the original include Mancera Cedrat Bois (Wood Miracle), Armani Babylon (Grass Kingdom), another great review and quality edit, nice one.
Good review as always my friend.... clone houses are poppin up everywhere... lol a few are great like Dua, PV and Alexandria... there is one here in the US thats really good called Montagne... I have purchased a few of theirs which includes clones of Lost Cherry, Tuxedo and Santal 33... their newer ones seem to be clones of Creed scents... quality is great overall... check them out if you ever get a chance... all of their bottles look like Le Labo...
Great video Chris. Been thinking of trying out some clones have had free samples and won some decants of some ofDUA concept series but AF and Genre def have me thinking. Thanks for keepin it real man.
Like yourself, I have used clone companies as my gateway into the full bottles. I can't afford the niche very often, but when my next one is due, it will likely be because i've smelt a clone beforehand that has given me the interest to pursue that expensive niche bottle. If you can afford the niche, buy the niche, but many people are struggling at the moment and must make do with what they can afford. Great vid and great rainbow!
@@FRAGMENTAL just gotten a full bottle of Glacier from them. It's an inspiration of Creeds Pure White Cologne... Dude.... My missus absolutely loves it . It's really nice . She's even threatening to get me a bottle of the Creed even though I've warned her it's from the Royal Exclusives line and very spendy 😂
I'm all up for clones personally, like you say it can be a gateway to get into more expensive fragrances. Cuts out the blind buy urges that I constantly have on a regular basis! Great work Chris, keep pumping out the awesome content and most importantly, keep smelling good! 👍
Real talk. I like PP clones a lot. I think they do a grat job cloning a lot of fragrances, BUT, the tuscan leather clone i have is incredibly weak in performance. The fact that they alter their formulations that much is not so cool. I l try alexandria for the Nasomatto clones. Ty :)
Great video Chris, clones are getting better and like you said cheaper. When out and about nobody is going to smell your fragrance and think its cheaper take. Enjoy your Sunday bro!✌
It was you and perfumeparlour started my journey, great ones from them like you say is their back to black, spice and wood and tabacco vanille. Then I discovered pockscents another incredible one, their oud wood is unreal it really is and again a fantastic tabacco vanille. Then another wonderful one Rosa Salas they have an incredible spicebomb, a great version of bacarat rouge and just discovered their noir de noir which is just beautiful. And then Edenperfumes and they have an incredible version of la nuit de l'homme and it's all vegan and natural which helps. But yea there's nothing wrong with clone houses they are a good introduction and at the very least gives you a look into the world of niche and there's nothing to stop you buying the real thing they are just great testers I guess and some can be mind blowing quality
Nice vid. I agree, clones have there place for reasons you mentioned but in my experience most if not all clone openings are off and the scent gets closer to the og in the mid and drydown.
I can never decide on a quick spray in a shop, and some fragrances are hard to find, so clones help. e.g. wasn't sure about Issey Miyake Noir Ambre when I tried it in Duty Free, so purchased the Perfume Parlour ("Black Yellow"). Eventually, I decided to go for it, but only managed to buy a bottle at a reasonable price this July. Totally agree about the Perfume Parlour Tuscan Leather clone, It out performs the original on my skin.
I have the Perfume Parlour clones of the Nasomatto line and they smell good but they lack depth and punch. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Does Alexandria have the same problem or are they higher quality would you say?
I love clones, they help the not-so-rich to acquire some very nice niche style fragrances. it doesn't take away much from the originals. the people that can afford the real thing, they're not on youtube, they are in creed stores and parfum de marly stores buying the real deal. dont hate on clones.
Parfum vintage's customer support is absolute trash though, sadly. Took my money for 3 bottles, and 1 was not in the package. Zero response from emails.
Right now two of my favorite clones are from the house of Alexandria Fragrances: 1) Smooth Sailing (Xerjoff 40 Knots), 2) Golden Rush (Amouage Jubilation 25).
Love the review for l want to try the Pineapple Vintage but have allergic reactions to smoky birch scents like Aventus. Would the intense have the least of the birch note? I’ve got 3 Dua fragrances I’m looking into as well
I started with decants of clone to decants of designer OG then now I buy decants of niche fragrances with full bottles of only 2- the one by Dolce Gabbana and Versace Dylan blue. For me the decant prices of niche to use on special occasions is fully justified. I just can't get my head how bloody expensive niche fragrances are compared to the overall scent.
Orangey background 😍 As someone said to us once, a £10 clone isn't really stealing business from a £200 fragrance. But i do get peoples' issues. I worked in the pharma industry and the same thing happens when a patent runs out. A company spends millions developing a drug then a generics company just releases the same drug at a fraction of the price. People still buy generics from pharmacies tho... 🤔
Great video, I'm a bit of a clone addict, currently having around 100 to choose from. I have just discovered KDJ Inspired, so far all have been spot on and very strong, their copy of C by Clive Christian is amazing.
Hey fella, I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment as clones being an affordable way in to niche/top end designer frags. For what it's worth, I'd say PP's POAL, TFNdN and By the Fire Place are all as good as their TFTL and great for Autumn/cooler weather. Pocket Scents' versions of Black Af, Royal Oud and Bois de Portugal are also fantastic. Alexandria's version of Richwood is sensational too.
Great points on ' why clones are not that bad a thing" mate. I have no problems with clones myself, but I am price conscious when I buy clones. If I have to pay £2/ml for a clone then I don't bother. Really nice picks for the season here mate, and I have made a note to try Baronda this season.
I also use the clones to decide if it's worth to buy the real deal. I buy small dupe bottles. Most of them by PP. Dua Fragrances I think are way too expensive to just try a niche fragrance. That's why I love your clones videos. Especially by PP. I trust your recommendations and like it very much if you compare the PP clones to the real deal. That made me buy a lot of bottles from PP which you thought are spot on to the real deal. PP saved me a lot of money compared to Alexandria or Dua Fragrances. So PP made me save a lot more money so I could buy some of the real ones like Black Phantom (coffin version) or by the fire place. But what is really the best about clones: You can buy discontinued fragrances. This is for me a much bigger pro argument.
Great video mate love me some Parfums Vintage. I agree not everyone can afford the big guns so these company's help if your budget isn't high. Need to try some Alexandria not done so yet. - Nik

You personal introduced me to clones and in specific The perfume parlour. I can’t thank you enough, their TF Tuscan leather clone is my day to day autumn fragrance and is stunning, I can still smell it 8 hours later! With that being said, I have also bought the original... based on the clone. But guess what? I’ll be sticking with the clone, smells identical, but for me lasts longer, and costs pennies compared to original. Thanks pal 👍🏻
My 3 top favourites from ALEXANDRIA are: Dark Knight/ Black Phantom - Killian, Royal Equistrian/ Layton - Parfum de Marly, and a supposedly an original, Hafez 1984, that is very similar to Red tobacco - Mancera. Although I have a large collection of Niche Fragrances, I am at a second 60 ml bottle of each one of the above fragrances, not only because they smell like the original, but also because of their rich and very high quality, and their longevity. Sandal Amber from Perfume Vintage is great and possibly better than TF Amber absolute, and it last longer.
My favorite clone is dua casino royal nights. Lookin to pic up parfums vintage emperor & now maybe vanilla intense. Hope someone clones initio rehab SOON
Wanted to request a video . ‘Perfume parlours that still hold up’ I know your journey with it all has led to you getting the originals of many of the clones of theirs you’ve had,and , in many cases it seems you’ve realised the superiority of the originals, Most of the time not all . I’ve had a similar experience though I would imagine I still use pp more than you do . Anyway I think it would be interesting. For my tuppence worth back to blak , Viking and many Tom fords still hold up very well . Haven’t actually finished the vid before writing this so maybe you’ve covered it .
alexandria is my fav clone house..... they have varieties of niche/designer clones and i get compliments all the time for half/quarter of the price and they perform!
I'm still loving that tree. I did a fist pump when you mentioned pardon. Picked it up last week and it's the most classy scent I have. One for special occasions. I've got nothing against clones, made a few orders in the past and also was a gateway for myself. I have had both gems at times and at others been a little disappointed by the quality control. I won't tell you which house but one arrived with a hair in the bottle and it was a faff getting the money back which has put me off going back. At some point I might place another order but that has scared me off a little
Has anyone tried Italian Forest by Alexandria Fragrances? Italian Cypress Reserved Collection is too expensive, its predecessor is discontinued, and I can't take Halston Z-14 seriously.
DUA has made me seriously consider stop buying designers in the 90.00 to 120.00 price range it’s just not worth it for weak performance and longevity from most edt and edps......I found DUA and I’m so hyped about them. They smell high quality....they’re inexpensive and let project and are mostly beast mode.......DUA is the truth. best clones out in the game!!!!!!!!!
I agree with you on clones. Let's be honest, many "non clone" companies create perfumes "inspired" by others. Think of all the designer and niche fragrances that were and are flankers of Aqua de Gio as a example. How many have been inspired by Sauvage. The list is huge. How about Rouge 540.... Mansera and Perfumes de Marly are have "clones" of it.
Good points Carl. There's a lot of 'sly' cloning going on that is sold to the consumer as an original. At least clone companies aren't hiding that fact.
I know how your wife feels about Tuscan Leather. I love REAL leather smell but perfume leather is very different. I tried Tuscan Leather and it smelled more like leather in a tanning factory. I have Parfum de Marly Godolphil, which is their leather version, and since I love all the fragrances from this house I thought this might be different but it's similar. I'll keep working on it but think I'll wait till it gets cold. Ha
Hahaha superb intro & outro my friend and well said. Two of my most complimented fragrances are Royal Equestrian & Zion by AF. Nuclear performance by both.
@@FRAGMENTAL oh definitely . i had a conversation with some one that works at Marvel comics & said why are these other comics in hardcover, great quality & great writting a fraction of the price of the marvel books which the physical build & story telling is so inferior yet twice the price & she told me oh its kus were selling u the brand name heroes like spider-man not some unknown characters LOL i couldnt help laugh at how honest she was but also totally agree with her .
NOTINO 😭😭😭💔💔, PLEASE COME BACK BABY I MISS YOU HERE IN THE USA. IT'S NOT FARE YOU LEFT ME LIKE THIS SO FAST AND WITH HIM (CHRIS) AND ALL THE OTHER EUROPEAN MEN.
Love waking up to you on a lazy Sunday morning. Really enjoyed the last three weeks of your autumnal lists and orange acer. Will you be doing a new rundown of your favourite niche fragrances for autumn? The weather has turned in London, and though I adore my freshies, it's nice to be breaking out some richer fragrances now.
In all honesty, Clones are a great way of sampling different types of fragrances and different types of smells while on a budget. I agree clone companies to rip off the work of major brands. However, some companies like Tom Ford/Creed rip buyers off with extortionate price tags. Anyone who hates on clones is a snob imo. You don't have to purchase them, but understand why they are on the market.
Fantastic one brother. Loved it. Gotta try this one clone house I came across the other day by accident. The brand's named Parfums de Marly and they do a really awesome take on tuscan leather called Godolphin and a bang on copy of Ambre Narguilé called Oajan. You've got to try those. Jokes aside another great video.
@@FRAGMENTAL a steal. Be careful with the caps though, A friend of mine dropped one and caused a minor earthquake in Lisboa that was felt as far away as algarve.
I'm personally not for clones but that's as far as my feelings for them go. I don't care what other people choose to spend their own hard earned money on. Fantastic choices of scents 👌
Good Sunday morning to you Chris, another enjoyable and informative video. I'm about a year into this "RABBIT HOLE" of my fragrance journey,a Cam from "CFR" channel reference . Cost is a determining factor so these videos are super helpful in learning about the much more costly "niche" fragrances. I enjoy your expertise and the quality of your work. GOD BLESS
You can change your name girl IDC. I just want you back. The 1st time I was head over heels for you. I got the cold sweat when I opened your box, the under ware wrapped around the goodies was just so beautiful. I have kept a few wrappers and occasionally take a wif with a light squeeze popping a bubble. If I did something I'm sorry, I will change. 😭😭
Why would anyone hate clones?! The average person can't afford £200 for 50ml of product, and the prices of the "real" scents are just outrageous! £200 is almost 3/4 of a weeks wages for many people. The Essence Vault do some great scents. Under £30 for 100ml yes, you have to reaply maybe twice a day, but even so still works out massively more affordable than hundreds of pounds, some 100ml are over £300, for the genuine ones, ten times the amount. Just not worth the money! Like most things, you pay for a name, for the advertising and a posh bottle that noone really sees. I'd be scared to use it if I was paying £300 a bottle. 50ml wouldn't last long using it daily.
Who would hate or dislike clones of exorbitantly priced fragrances other than those who have vested interests in those companies or who have bought them for a status symbol? Long live the great clones for spreading the wealth of fragrance to the common people!

Clones are knocking it outta the park right now. Even if they're not exact they're still fantastic scents in their own right.
Great points on ' why clones are not that bad a thing" mate. I have no problems with clones myself, but I am price conscious when I buy clones. If I have to pay £2/ml for a clone then I don't bother.
Really nice picks for the season here mate, and I have made a note to try Baronda this season.
Oh AC....Baraonda is going to knock you for six. I know you're a man of taste who appreciates high quality.
@@FRAGMENTAL I like the sound of that mate :)
I'm cheap. So I'm gonna love this video.
Nothing wrong with being a cheapie!
I'm you've my videos useful. You're a great example of someone who enjoys buying niche but also can appreciate clones. Thanks for your support 👍🏻
@@FRAGMENTAL Thank you and keep making these awesome videos. Greetings from Germany.
Fructus virginis puts lost cherry to shame. Especially in the performance department.. TF needs to get his shit together at those prices.
Great video mate love me some Parfums Vintage. I agree not everyone can afford the big guns so these company's help if your budget isn't high. Need to try some Alexandria not done so yet. - Nik
Oh I'm shocked you've not tried AF yet Nik. Get on it lad!
Great explanations as usual and a nice nod to PP. Good to see who is boss in your house, LOL.
Haha thanks for watching Steve👍🏻

and pardon which i won in frag raffle .is a beut..the clone one no excuse.isxalso great.its a wee smasher.that pardon ...a few sprays and your anbodys..lol..
It does smell very close!
can you do a video comparing dupe houses like alexandria, dua, parlour etc?
Great idea
Parfums vintage prices are on dollars, am I still able to pay with UK currency and is shipping free to the UK?
My 3 top favourites from ALEXANDRIA are: Dark Knight/ Black Phantom - Killian, Royal Equistrian/ Layton - Parfum de Marly, and a supposedly an original, Hafez 1984, that is very similar to Red tobacco - Mancera. Although I have a large collection of Niche Fragrances, I am at a second 60 ml bottle of each one of the above fragrances, not only because they smell like the original, but also because of their rich and very high quality, and their longevity. Sandal Amber from Perfume Vintage is great and possibly better than TF Amber absolute, and it last longer.
yes. Hafez 1984 is a beauty. that shoulda been o Frags list, too. But its his list, so he can have what he wants 😎
I agree with all of those 👍🏻
@@bee1978 This is just a list of clones. Hafez 1984 is an original.
007 is also a great clone from Alexandria of intoxicated by kilian .. My son wears it and I can’t tell the difference
@@juliefeathers Yes it is!
My favorite clone is dua casino royal nights. Lookin to pic up parfums vintage emperor & now maybe vanilla intense. Hope someone clones initio rehab SOON
Wanted to request a video . ‘Perfume parlours that still hold up’
I know your journey with it all has led to you getting the originals of many of the clones of theirs you’ve had,and , in many cases it seems you’ve realised the superiority of the originals, Most of the time not all .
Great idea, I have a think about doing it.
Cheers . Great vid
alexandria is my fav clone house..... they have varieties of niche/designer clones and i get compliments all the time for half/quarter of the price and they perform!
I'm always impressed with the quality of AF👍🏻
Third and Final comment. No love for tobacco in the autumn? Or will that feature in a winter clone video?
I definitely love tobacco but in this one I wanted to use clones that I also own the original of. Also they had to be very good clones.
At some point I might place another order but that has scared me off a little
Eek! Did you just use it as hairspray? 😂🙈
Ha, I didn't think of that😋
Has anyone tried Italian Forest by Alexandria Fragrances? Italian Cypress Reserved Collection is too expensive, its predecessor is discontinued, and I can't take Halston Z-14 seriously.
This video is definitely for me..😁
I only wore cloned of niche perfumes..😅
DUA has made me seriously consider stop buying designers in the 90.00 to 120.00 price range it’s just not worth it for weak performance and longevity from most edt and edps......I found DUA and I’m so hyped about them. They smell high quality....they’re inexpensive and let project and are mostly beast mode.......DUA is the truth. best clones out in the game!!!!!!!!!
Do you recomend me PP clone for Pardon???
Yeh it's great.
I have 8 Parfums Vintage fragrances in my collection and I enjoy all of them!
Great video man and I feel the same way about Tom ford ombré leather . My girlfriend Kelly doesn’t like it but whatever lol
Haha Kelly can deal😉
I remember you rated PP's version of Pardon quite highly, how does it compare to Alexandria's?
I've not tested side by side but they're both very good. The AF is perhaps a bit stronger.
I have the perfume parlour clone too and yep my wife hates it! This vid is right up my street! Great choices 👍🏻
I like to think if we wear TL enough they'll grow to like it!😂
FRAG-MENTAL eerrrrrr yeah I’m not sure about that. You can keep telling yourself it but certainly in my household I don’t think it’s happening 😂😂
That opening though 💥💥
Love your honesty
I agree with you on clones. Let's be honest, many "non clone" companies create perfumes "inspired" by others. Think of all the designer and niche fragrances that were and are flankers of Aqua de Gio as a example. How many have been inspired by Sauvage. The list is huge. How about Rouge 540.... Mansera and Perfumes de Marly are have "clones" of it.
Good points Carl. There's a lot of 'sly' cloning going on that is sold to the consumer as an original. At least clone companies aren't hiding that fact.
Nice video!
Ha
Good point at the start.
Hahaha superb intro & outro my friend and well said. Two of my most complimented fragrances are Royal Equestrian & Zion by AF. Nuclear performance by both.
Thank you Simon. AF certainly don't hold back on performance!
Nice review. Can you please recommend the best inspired impression of TF Oud Wood!? Thanks
Perfume Parlour is very good. I heard the Parfums Vintage is great but not sniffed it yet.
TF Tuscan Leather = Rasasi La Yuqawam , not? I have it and it is so good.
Yes it's very good.
I have been noticing the same thing with these clones they always seem to last longer than the original's
It does make you question how big the mark up might be on the originals.
You've hit on some of my favorites again, friend. 👊😎 #NoSurpriseThere
Yep our taste in frags definitely seems to align!
Thanks
The rainbow on Aventus is godly 😂
Great effects eh?!!
Thanks to you and your channel...I saved hundreds of pounds so...I appreciate your work and I also hate mom jokes lol keep up the GREAT work 😉
Thanks Magnus I'll keep doing my best
You should do a top 10 cheapies for the autumn/fall weather. Keep it under $50
NOTINO 😭😭😭💔💔, PLEASE COME BACK BABY I MISS YOU HERE IN THE USA. IT'S NOT FARE YOU LEFT ME LIKE THIS SO FAST AND WITH HIM (CHRIS) AND ALL THE OTHER EUROPEAN MEN.
I feel your pain man!
Always love the descriptions and the down to earth vibe that you always project. Thanks for the info and suggestions :)
Appreciate that Rob!
Mont blanc Explorer is similar to Creed Aventus
Love waking up to you on a lazy Sunday morning. Really enjoyed the last three weeks of your autumnal lists and orange acer. Will you be doing a new rundown of your favourite niche fragrances for autumn? The weather has turned in London, and though I adore my freshies, it's nice to be breaking out some richer fragrances now.
Yes Niche will be coming soon👍🏻
imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
In all honesty, Clones are a great way of sampling different types of fragrances and different types of smells while on a budget.
I agree clone companies to rip off the work of major brands. However, some companies like Tom Ford/Creed rip buyers off with extortionate price tags.
Anyone who hates on clones is a snob imo. You don't have to purchase them, but understand why they are on the market.
It's a touchy subject but if we all just respect each others views we're golden👍🏻
Excellent
Fantastic one brother. Loved it. Gotta try this one clone house I came across the other day by accident. The brand's named Parfums de Marly and they do a really awesome take on tuscan leather called Godolphin and a bang on copy of Ambre Narguilé called Oajan. You've got to try those. Jokes aside another great video.
Thanks S. Yeh I think I've heard of PDM. Dirt cheap right? 😂
Great mindset Robert. We don't have to hate on opinions that don't align with our own.
GOD BLESS
Thanks Stuart. I'm no expert but I enjoy passing on my findings to others. You get extra cool points for being a CFR subscriber 😎
If the fragrance is very expensive I don't see the harm. Chances are you will want the real deal at some point.
Bro can you please break it down . Pounds to dollars i.e UK to USA
My brain doesn't calculate as fast as your fingers type it into Google. When I set up Patreon I might go the extra mile😉
Another one bites the dust haha
One day bro I need to pay some bills first but one day they will be mine thanks
Definitely prioritize those bills!
Haha great Tuscan leather story
