to respond to the oxtail cut of meat. yea they are considered gourmet now but i remember when i was a kid oxtails were cheap AF and were considered throw away meat. when a certain demographic (yall know who i'm talking about)finally found out about how good they are when stewed down they turned it into this super expensive cut of meat.....oxtails used to be what "poor" people ate. thats capitalism for you.

Maybe your location, but in my 40 years in Northern California I've only had one homie that cooked or even brought up oxtails. I did go to a Cuban place the other week ang got oxtails. They were $15 with rice. The stew was $24. That's regular prices of Mexican and Chinese plates around here.

    • @DevaJones03

@@SidewaysInTraffic notice i said cut of meat.... not what they cost at a restaurant. Most restaurants either buy in bulk or have deals with meat distributors they so don't cost what they cost regular consumers. What do they cost per lb in s grocery store? Also read the other responses they concurred I'm sure we don't all live in the same city.

Traditionally, doubles does not come with shrimp or chicken or any meat, just channa and ain't eaten like sandwich. You eat the doubles like how you eat that buss up shut with the chicken and potato etc. ❤
Fry salmon and aloo pie - modern twist on an aloo pie that you also put channa with different condiments. ❤
Fried bake or coconut bake and salt fishhh/smoke herring. ❤
We do dhal, rice and salt fish and eat it with our hands. ❤
Trini chow - mango, plum, five finger, pineapple w/salt, fresh pepper etc - we make a chow out of anything. ❤
Oxtail - we usually eat with rice but we eat with roti too. ❤
Green seasoning - chive, garlic, onion, ginger, pimento pepper etc. ❤
Ginger beer, maybe and sorrel ❤

Sorry I don't think so but Surinamese food is the nr.1 even though were South Americans. Even other Carribean people that visit Suriname say it has the best food and way more diverse. We have the best food across the whole of the diaspora and I visited a lot of the Islands and the USA. Nothing compares to Suriname food Barbodos was nothing waste of time, Jamaica and their Jerk Chicken is the only thing they promote and is nothing. Trinidad and Tobago so so The best thing is the Tobago Island itself as it has or at least had no crime years ago, and USA food I just don't like that just nonsense not healthy cooking. I recommend Cane, St James, Teddy's Roti Shop, and Carribean Palace if you ever come back to the D.C area. Great Trini spots. 💯💪🏾

Awesome Review! Everything at Culver’s is cooked to order. We ❤their food especially the burgers and North Atlantic Cod fish sandwich. Ask for some extra tarter sauce and malt vinegar on the side! Wonderful!
