    That’s the main thing stopping me from putting 22x12s, I just bought a tundra (first time tundra owner by the way) but in my only truck I couldn’t go into a drive through without worrying about curve dashing my tires. Vs with 17/18s you can just run the curve over 😂. So it’s literally style vs comfortablilty. Honestly I don’t want to be worried about curb rushing my stuff.

    • @toyotafanatics1

      Big wheels are a culprit to a ton of early suspension wear issues including torn/worn out CV’s.. The only thing good about big wheels is the way they look.. and they do “Look” good, but i think a good set of 18x10’s could still look good and not wear things out so quick.. really depends on how much, and what type of driving you do, but those 14 wides will destroy your suspension very quickly!

    If you are an off-roader in any real sense of the word, 17's. You can take a truck off-roading with 22" wheels on 35's, but it is not ideal. Anyone who actually goes off-roading and over-landing understands this. Low profile tires, irrespective of whether they have to range from all-terrain to mud tread will be at a disadvantage on rough terrain. You need to air down when off-road. Low profile tires are prohibitive as they don't have much tire wall to air down with. The other consideration is low profile tires lack the protection that same size tires with meatier walls provide to mitigate damage to wheels. It's not about hate, it's about being honest about what you can and cannot do off-road with the way your rig is set up. The old adage, "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" is very true.

  • @J.NOBODY.1
    @J.NOBODY.1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I personally prefer the smaller wheel and decent sized tire. Even though I'm only 22 I just prefer that off-road look but man do those 22s with that wide stance look so sweet. A total head-turner for sure. Can't go wrong with either one, I just love to run over things and jump tracks every so often so I would want some king suspension and methods XD. I think some 17s on 33s with a minor lift would be ideal. Keep that power without going too heavy on wheels and tires and keep some decent mpg as well. WIn win for me at least.

    • @toyotafanatics1
      @toyotafanatics1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, the general rule amongst the lifted tundra community is that you don’t need to consider re gearing until you jump to a 37 inch tire.. The trucks can handle 33’s and 35’s all day with no problems at all.. The 5.7 is a beast!!

      @benjaminmurphy6933 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don’t need to re gear with 33’s or 35’s. The 5.7 has enough power to power through the change. But if you tow and have 35’s that’s where you will notice the truck having to use every bit of power it has to move the weight and hill climbs. I have 33’s on my tundra and it’s re geared, when you re gear it the truck with out a load becomes even a bigger beast, allowing the truck to move easier making it feel lighter with more power. But I tow damn near every weekend on our family outings.

      Nope, all 7-13 tundras had them in red. New 14 plus only come in black. From what I remember cause my dad had on 07 with the 5.7 and then a 14 limited with the 5.7. I don't think the flex-fuel option had anything to do with it but all 14+ tundras you see only come with the black I force badge and chrome. It also depends on the trim and model because platinum and 1794 and TRD PRO have their own badging. I personally prefer the clean look with no badging on any vehicle.

    I personally think a lifted truck with low profile wheels and tires looks awful. They look like mall crawlers to me. Those low profile wheels remind me of spinner wheels. All looks no performance. It is like the clown shoe version of truck wheels to me. Nothing bigger then 17" wheels and at least double the tire height looks good and capable. IE a 17" wheel with 35" tire, a 16" wheel with a 32" tire , etc etc. IDK maybe it is because I grew up with jeeps and trucks doing actual jeep and truck stuff and rappers had the big huge wheels and looked like clowns riding around in those rides. It started with donk cars and moved to trucks for some reason.
