    I like how you're always descriptive and leave the part numbers on the description, very helpful! Wish I could've seen this video a few months ago but regrettably my truck is now a roller and will stay like that for a few years unfortunately due to life stuff. It's all good though I'll be back someday, but glad you're still working on yours and can't wait for till you finish it!

      @T0712096 I try to save everyone time in researching part numbers and I want to show what actually works. I try to be of help on TH-cam cause, Lord knows I use it for help all the time. I know how life stuff is brother, hang in there and never give up. You will get back to it one day. I can’t wait to finish it, and thanks to people like you for the encouraging comments I will. Be blessed my friend and keep going!!

    Seriously contemplating going manual for my gbody.. thanks for this information

    • @dtperformance256
      @dtperformance256  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @nitomeanboyGBODY I went back and forth on going manual steering, but the first S10 I built was manual steering and the trade off for clearance, weight reduction, and extra power was worth it to me. Not to mention fewer leak points. The drivability was not that much noticeable to me. My first build was a daily driver and not having power steering was not a big deal. Well my friend it has been decades since I owned a vehicle with manual steering. I cant think of any reason to drive a vehicle with a manual steering box. The first 1967 chevy stepside I owned, I replaced the manual steering box I think 12 times because I think it couldnt handle the stress of 15x8 wheels and tires. Maybe in an unlicensed drag car maybe?

      @ronniehahn1885 Yes, it is going to be an occasional driver, but set up for the dragstrip. Thanks for watching and the comment!

    Mine has thee bolt will that box work

    • @dtperformance256
      @dtperformance256  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ michealblack9189. Yes it will work. The four bolt boxes have more turns lock to lock, but the three bolt box will work just fine fine. I am referring to the bolts on top of the gear box and not the blots that mount it to the frame. I couldn’t remember if i said that in the video…lol.

    Did you have to make a flat spot on the power steering box splines for the steering shaft

    • @dtperformance256
      @dtperformance256  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @michaelblack9189 The flat spot is there from the factory. Thanks for watching and commenting! I hope this information helps you out!

    I have a 1994 S10 I'm doing an LS swap in and I have a question. Will the Holly Blackheart Steering Shaft work in my application? Isn't the 1994 S10 the first year of the 2nd generation? How much of a steering shaft difference is there between the 94 and the 93? The reason I want to go to manual is because this is the 2nd S10 that I've LS swapped and the 6.0 L I installed in the 98 year truck had clearance issues with the power steering pump. I had to swap to a smaller pully and grind the head off one of the bolts of the steering box to give me the clearance I needed. I have a pinion angle vibration issue in my 98 S10 and I tried to raise the tailshaft of the transmission to level the engine and transmission. Guess what, the power steering pump pully came in contact with the steering auto gearbox and I couldn't. I dont want to have this problem with the 94 S10. Thanks for the video.

      @irwin6794 Thanks for watching and commenting!! Holley/Hooker Blackheart says the steering shaft for a 1994-2004 is their part number 71223021HKR. I am not exactly sure of the differences but I can tell you this steering shaft allows for way more clearance than a stock steering shaft. I had the exact same issues and without buying more expensive brackets my power steering pump was hitting as well. I have had many manual steering S10’s and they are not that bad to drive. You may have a tough time finding a manual box for a 1994. Thise things are hard to find, at least for a first gen anyway. I want to say I have heard….don’t know for sure but the second generation S10’s did not have a manual steering option. I would have to double check that. Again, thanks for watching and I hope this was of some kind of help.

      @@dtperformance256 No they do not have a manual option. Rockauto has a manual steering box for a 1993. It looks like it would work for my 94. I have a manual transmission so the Hooker Blackheart Steering Shaft 1983-1993 S10 Part Number 71223022HKR looks like it would work. I'm going to gamble and take a chance. Look up LARES part number 11472 it looks like it would fit in the same 3 holes in the frame of my 94. Thanks for your help.

      @irwin6794 let me know what you get figured out. I looked at a LARES steering box for mine and it was very expensive. You’re welcome I hope something I said or did helped.
