I was 27 minutes in when I realized... Thor FINALLY LABELLED THE GAMES! He didn't just start showing it while MAYBE mentioning the name in an off hand bitted way that made it almost impossible to figure out what the fuck he was actually playing, which was literally my only problem I ever had with these videos! I hope that things turn around for you. Don't let fear or worries take up your consciousness or energy, or lose too much focus on the things that mean something to you. The world and mind can be a heaven or hell... Fight the bad by putting your energy into anything that has a positive connection for you. And a little venting can be good too. Keeping busy sometimes, and some moments of silence to recharge.

I feel the same way about culture differences in products/design trends. I think it’s fascinating how a person can enjoy something mainly because they just grew up in a society it was popular in. @BorkHammer40k ปีที่แล้ว +9

Loved the PS1 demo discs. Getting Pizza Hut and a demo disc was peak 90s. I had three that stand out in my mind - one that I'm assuming must have been a pack in with the console that included a demo for Ray Storm, some submarine/diving game I can't remember the name of, IQ, Armored Core, and a bunch of videos. The other discs I had included demos for Gran Turismo, Crash 3, Tony Hawk, Ape Escape, Final Fantasy 8, Medi-Evil, Tomb Raider, and... maybe Cool Boarders? Too bad I never had a Dual Shock 1 for Ape Escape...
Maybe it's my autistic tendencies, but I always loved the demo discs having a bunch of random *stuff* to check out and do without having to fuss with much. Not needing to change discs but still getting to experience a bunch of different games in a convenient package usually featuring hella slick presentation... They, just like the 90s, were a vibe and we'll probably never get back there, but at least we have these awesome memories and awesome people to reminisce about them with.

Watching this video gave me such a visceral feeling of gross nostalgia. Meaning the only person who owned a PS1 when I was growing up was my grandfather and whenever we visited, they'd let us crowd around the upstairs TV and play PS1 instead of spending any time with our relatives.
He owned a copy of Croc and a copy of Motor Toon Grand Prix 2. Those were the only ones the kids were allowed to play.
I remember them being so weird and foreign to me because we only had Nintendo at our house and these games had almost a weird panic-inducing strangeness to them that was only made worse by the odd, rubbery controller sticks. I never actually understood why Croc was so hard to navigate and why moving him felt like learning how to walk all over again, until Thor said "tank controls". I didn't know what tank controls were back then, I'd never played a game with them. No wonder that game haunts my dreams.

I remember playing the Gran Turismo demo and being upset that I can't pick the Dodge Viper which is my childhood favorite car.
This was before I got Japanese car pilled with Gran Turismo 2.

I had the CD Interactive Sample Disc Vol. 9. Had some bangers like MGS, Spyro, Gran Turismo and Medievil. The envelope art was all roundy and purple and I remmeber that i tought it looked like an dreamcast controller (the dreamcast was already out when I got my playstation). I really liked it. Ansd, living on a third world country, It was the only original playstation disc I ever saw back them.
Also, sad that granturismo 2 demo doesn't have music. It has some really great sound track! Probably the reason thats the racing game I played the most in my life, after mario kart.
Also (2), north americans call football soc cer. And call a game that you carry a ball under you arm (thats basically rugby wearing armor) foottball...

4th grade 1996 our class always got to do whatever the final hour of Fridays, and this demo disk+ a new fangled ps1 (for that time) was an option for us. I remember some ridiculous live action reenactment educational trivia games we would sometimes play as a class.

Brooo, the demo disc menu soundtrack unlocked a memory I didn't know I had or even know where it came from.
If you zone out the bugs bunny game actually looks pretty good.

"I know at least one person who was scared of it as a kid"
DUUUDE I WAS IN CONSTANT DREAD EVERYTIME I WENT TO THAT LEVEL SELECT SCREEN.
This and the "dangerous area" music of Digimon World 3 always scared me even though there's nothing inherently scary about them.
Thanks for unlocking one memory keep awesome mahman

There were definitely American PS1 demo discs that felt less agro and more trippy. I remember one that came from Pizza Hut I believe that had a killer soundtrack and menu.

Holy shit I had that demo disk, my cousin gifted me his Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories and this demo disk was in the case too, scratched to hell but it still worked. The music for Destrega and the demo menu just unlocked some ancient memories.

Sheed a tear at the 3:55 minute demo song ❤❤
Im 40.. i had over 100 demo discs just from psx. Also had maybe 15 for saturn. My fav demos disc was panzer dragon saga. It was the full disc 1/4 of the game. You could save. I grinded that last area to the limite. By the time i got the full game i had over 100hours in my save 😂.

I have a demo disc with nearly the same game line up, but totally different menu... But I miss these so much.
I had to save my money for over year to buy my PlayStation as a kid (my parents didn't want us kids playing video games so wouldn't buy them or help us) and didn't even own a game for it for ages: I lived off rentals and demo discs for i don't even remember for how long.. so many memories.

BB:LIT, throw back fr. I had this game and actually watched my brother beat it. I realized very late that it’s shared it’s game engine with the grinch ps1 game look into. Except for “Ollie Ollie oxenfree” it’s “Max!”
