Hi! Im a young crocheter and I love your videos! I’m going to a market soon and am wondering how to deal with people who want to negotiate prices of my pieces?
Oh this is a good one. You’ll just have to be honest and say your prices are nonnegotiable. The price is firm. We had a women try to tell Oscar she only had 15 and he looked at her and said “well it’s 20” i would rather take the loss of a sale then lower my self worth for someone who clearly doesn’t respect our kind of work
Heyyy I had a similar experience and for me if they buy more than 10 small $5 i will take some money off just bc its bulk but if your coming to me asking to negotiate a$10 item it’s not happening and that doesn’t make you mean or rude but at the end of the day people WILL PAY FOR WHAT THEY WANT don’t get discouraged ❤

I have wanted to try a market but have hesitated mainly because of the technology part. I would love you to do a video on square!! Being from an older Era I struggle with technology and at this point it is my downfall. Your video is excellent and it is very gracious of you to share what you have learned!! I have no doubt your business will continue to climb to new heights!

Thank you for sharing. I’m in Utah and just beginning my small business, getting serious here. I would also mention to bring pens, scissors, tape, small note pads and extra pricing items. I’ve done some small markets in WA and found these things important to have on hand. I have a small Boutique at the end of October at a local Senior Center. I’ve done it before with Market bags, not with much luck. I’ve been crocheting Plushies for the last couple of months. Hopefully they will bring more sales. Also working on an online shop for friends who live in states banning plastic bags. I love your husband’s shelves! Definitely interested in investing in them. Oh my gosh!! Why couldn’t I find this channel sooner?! I had my first event last Saturday (one week after you posted this. I paid $250 and literally had anxiety preparing. I worked so hard to get everything for the space that I didn’t make enough inventory and it was a two day event. This video is amazing! I make floral arrangements and wreaths but still learned alot. Thank you!

Hi!! I love your videos so much, I just scrolled apon your channel. Every year in our small town we have a huge fall festival with lots of different vendors. I’m a young crochet artist and I did a booth last year but I had no idea what I was getting myself into. This video helped alot, and I hope to be more successful this year, since I’ve learned from my mistakes!

I have been so nervous about what all I need, and this helped a lot. I would love to see a square "tutorial" type video. I signed up for it but I feel overwhelmed with putting my inventory in and learning how everything works.

Hi Great information. I’m just getting into crocheting. Actually I’ve known how to do basic single crochet for decades. I watched a few videos on crocheting and decided to expand my horizons. For the last 7 years I’ve been making fused glass ornaments, dishes, and jewelry. I plan to continue with that but I want to add to it with crocheting. Probably a little adhd going on. A method I go by as to how much inventory to take, is aim for 10 x booth fee in sales. And double that for your inventory. It allows people to have choices.

i recently did my first market, and i noticed when signing up for other and bigger markets that i need to obtain licensing and permits for my plushies. a lot of city workers go to markets in my area to check for permits with vendors. i was wondering since you have licensing in your business if you could give me steps or maybe do an in depth video of how you accomplished that? i know a video is a lot to ask for, so just steps would be fine : )

Yeah, Venmo is not reliable either. I have had them freeze my account for someone else trying to pay me. I have also had payment cancelled or refunded with out mine or the person who is doing the transaction’s permission
Hi, I do have a question, if can be answered safely. Im about to do my first booth in a semi popular market for our area. What would you be comfortable having for cash to do for change? My aim is having all items multiples of 5, so I shouldn't have to carry ones, but I wasn't sure how many 5s and 10s would be reasonable
I'm trying to decide on charging sales tax (or if I should just eat the cost) -- it seems like a lot of vendors I've purchased from have not charged sales tax, and I think that makes it easier as I price my items all in $5 intervals so it's easier and don't need to deal with change. If you charge sales tax when someone purchases, how do you go about that?
Most of my charges are on card and Venmo and my apps charge the sales tax for me :) I charge for tax purposes and eating the cost for handmade items does add up!

No monthly fees! They just will take a fee percentage per transaction so make sure to add that into the sales tax 💕

Just so you’re aware… paypal owns venmo. Ppl will file chargebacks if they’re scummy ppl regardless if it’s a card, PayPal, Venmo, etc.

I take lots of ones and fives I take probably 5 fives and 30 ones
