  • Filmed on 3 February 2024 in North Pole Alaska when it got down to -48F. This is the coldest this truck has ever seen.

I live in MN but we do see temperatures like that some winters. Me personally, I turn my lights off and radio off to give max power to the starter. I also have a block heater and battery tender since my work has outdoor plugs that used to be used for diesel equipment used at the airport which is now outside the secure area and in employee parking lot. I also have remote start so I come back to a warm truck. I leave it plugged in even when using remote start until I get back to the vehicle. Its always painful to listen to the tacoma whine like that even at -20F lol and I got a 2022 TRD OR.

How long does it take before you have heat?

It never does truly heat up to where it’s comfortable when it’s that cold. In fact, the interior glass frosts over and won’t go away even with full defrost on. It’s actually scary to drive at those temps.
