  • In this video we show you step by step how to make your very own lifeline or safety line for treestand hunting. All you need is 3 things.
    make sure you use climbing rope to make these and build these at your own risk.
    1.) 11mm climbing rope
    2.) 8mm climbing rope
    3.) rock climbing carabiner

    Great video, I wondered how the lifeline attached to the top of the tree. I think its cheaper to make these than to buy them already made. thanks for the informative video

    I would do a figure 8 on a bite on the ends instead of an overhand. It's more secure and stronger as a safety for holding a person and thats what we use for search and rescue ops. Other than that great video and perfect prusic!

    Great diy videos, thanks for making them! 2 questions, can't you use the life line as the tether? Would you trust this enough to repel from?

    • @JarredMurphyOutdoors
      @JarredMurphyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      The life line attaches to your tether on your safety harness. As far as repelling, the rope is made for rock climbing.

    Thanks for the video. I rarely hunt from a stand 90% is ground hunting. If I do hunt from a stand its a ladder stand thats only 12ft high. But im needing to put a stand 30+ ft.

    Could you Do a DIY video on a makeshift throw bag? I've tried a few things like putting lead ammo in a sock and tieing my line to it and wrapping it in duct tape but would like to see if you have any good ideas on this

    sorry for my lack of understanding but if you were to fall and you are hung up... what then? how do you lower yourself down. sounds like you just hang there if you fall. im sure theres more to it than that... thx!

    • @JarredMurphyOutdoors
      @JarredMurphyOutdoors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s the idea for it to catch and let you hand there. In theory you should be able to hug the tree get the tension off of ridicule knot and then proceed to get on your ladder,sticks, or stand. If your in climber you can shimmy down tree. Hope that answers it for ya.

    Is the prusik rope a different size rope than your lifeline or does it not matter to use the lifeline sized rope for the prusik?

    • @JarredMurphyOutdoors
      @JarredMurphyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it’s a different size. You want the prusik knot rope to be smaller.

    • @CoreyTippets
      @CoreyTippets ปีที่แล้ว

      Can the lifeline rope be 1/2 inch and the prussic rope be 8mm or probably not, great vid

    How do you get it down at end of the job.
    All the best Bob

    • @JarredMurphyOutdoors
      @JarredMurphyOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your using a hang on stand you can hook into your lineman’s belt to get it down. If your using a climber you just cinch and un-cinch moving the line down as you go. When u get to the bottom just unhook from tree. Hope that explains it well enough.

    A figure eight not is better than the overhand not.

    Can you just stay hooked to this while you're hunting instead of having to attach to a tree strap once you're in the tree

  • @rustyshackelford9414

    If i fell with one of these ropes could I slide the rest of the way down in a controlled fashion?

    • @JarredMurphyOutdoors
      @JarredMurphyOutdoors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you were to fall the prusik would grip the main line and keep you from falling. As long as you can get pressure off of the prusik knot you will be able to slid it down.

      @@JarredMurphyOutdoors I appreciate the answer. Probably a simpleton question but this safety rope is new to me. Sounds like I've been missing out.

      They are handy for lock on or ladder stands that stay in one place for most of the season.
