Big kudos to you for going the extra mile to re-record instead of posting your rant video! I know a lot of time and effort goes into making these and you chose to rethink you first draft, so thank you for not putting out more negativity.
I have nothing to add. You said everything perfectly and remained objective and respectful.
I think this is nothing more than a simple business decision. If you run any business and one of your employees getting covid risks your business having to close down, you have the right to only employ people that have a lower risk. While the moral arguments are all correct, we can't compel people to get vaccinated, but if they chose not to, they have to accept that everyone else has the right to exclude them from things, including work.
As someone who actually IS from upstate New York, I can tell you that the Hamptons are NOT part of upstate New York. Anywhere on Long Island is NOT upstate New York.
Billy Joel and Paul McCartney will be relieved to know that hadn’t been upstate as they were probably puzzled at how the beaches and the ocean could have been upstate.
I am late to this party, but I just want to thank you for your thoughts, and your assertion that we all have an obligation to do right by the people around us. It frustrates me when people feel as though they have a right to put others in danger.
I believe the Venue admitted the following week that they didn’t offer her the testing option. They said there was a miscommunication. I work in a medical setting and there are folks who test every week as an alternative to getting vaccinated. What I’d like to say is that she didn’t lie about the vaccination and when the protocol changed she withdrew. She is not risking anyone at this time as she is not performing. I’d like for everyone to get vaccinated to protect their health. But I do understand some are afraid or unsure. What was sad was how mean and critical folks were and how the false story wasn’t corrected for a week which was too late. Honestly Tony Yasback and the producers could have said something but didn’t. That Certainly has tainted my opinion of him. Thank you for this video. Hoping all will work out.
I mean I don’t blame Tony for not saying anything especially since Laura later turned out to be a huge conservative asshole besides this incident

I have been double vaccinated and I am donating some of my eggs which means going through a lot of fertility screening. The vaccine has not affected me in any way

The only thing to add is that many drugs are bad news for pregnant women and because these vaccines were developed and tested in a much shorter time period than usual, so there wasn’t really time to track how pregnant women might have been harmed.
Personally I don't think Laura should have been attacked for this. She was given obvious misinformation about the vaccine (one of my teachers from school also got that misinformation and thus didn't get vaccinated as well) and then she begins to get harassed by people. No one knows what is going on in her life.
All I can say though is that she is now suing the newspaper for defamation now, which is why I'm here

It low-key feels like she's using the fertility thing as an axcuse. After everything that's happened to theatre and the arts it feels like a bit of a slap in the face.

As a speech pathologist I was forced by NYS to get the shots. If I didn't i would lose my private practice license, something it took eight years to acquire. Same for nurses and MDs.
Nurse friends who are pregnant have refused the shots, but will accept them once the babies are born.
The Hamptons are on Long Island which is south of Manhattan.island that looks like a fish

do the Pfizer or AZ vaccines stop you spreading covid (particularly Delta)? What I've been reading from scientists is that this is not really the case, in which case I think it's futile to mandate vaccines. I encourage you to get it however, as I have done.
@@joshuanesbit unfortunately with delta and the other variant I can't remember what it's called, you now can get and spread covid. Your chances are just less and your chances of a bad cases a lower which is still better than nothing of course but it's too bad so many didn't get vaccinated so it mutated.

I don’t think this is being fair to Laura. I love Sierra theatrical Voice, and I posted videos here of her performance at the 54 Below Cabaret about 2 1/2 years ago. I loved her song selection and performances of the standards “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” and “The Nearness of You.” Sierra is finally getting roles now.
But Laura is a two-time Tony nominee, which is nothing to sneeze at. If you think the shows that she won them for, Cinderella and Bonnie and Clyde, were lightweight roles, she also played two classic roles as Nellie in South Pacific and Julie in Carousel. She was picked to replace Kelli O’Hara in Lincoln Center Theater’s lush and expensive and wildly praised revival of South Pacific. She replaced Kelli when she left for maternity leave and then again after Kelli left the show for good. The show ran another five or six months with Laura in the row. Laura played Julie opposite Steven Pasquale’s Billy in Chicago Lyrics Opera’s production of Carousel. It received excellent reviews and I think Steven and Laura were the best Billy and Julie that we’ve seen in this century. Certainly better than the flop revival of Carousel on Broadway a couple of years later.

I guess I don't see why "radicalized" is being used to describe people who are Republican, or doubting to take it. There have been so many standards and social expectations around this vaccine that have not been put on all the other vaccines. It just seems so uneven to me.
Is that why Frances did the concert and not Laura?

There’s a million qualified people in line to take her place. She made her choice no loss to the theatre!
She is a huge loss. OMg are you deaf or blind? Laura is one of a kind. She’s way better than lots of top-performing Broadway actors right now.

Your medical/scientific opinions in this video are turning out NOT to be medical/scientific facts a year later. She's actually filed a lawsuit against some media outlets for defaming her character (like you low key kinda did in this video), and she's probably going to win.

If she can't perform the role, for whatever reason, she can't be hired. It's quite simple.

Sierra has a lovely theatrical voice and a charming personality. There are a number of videos that I shot of her at the 54 Below cabaret here on TH-cam.
But Sierra is not a dancer, so you would not see her performing in the 25th anniversary production of Susan Stroman’s Crazy for You with Broadway best male dancer, Tony Yazbeck, or in the eight sold out performances of Laura and Tony at 54 Below singing and dancing to Gershwin.
And you could not see Sierra playing Laura‘s role in the swing musical Bandstand. Long time Times theater critic Christopher Isherwood, now the theater critic of the Wall Street Journal, singled her out in his review of Bandstand as someone that he had not fully appreciated before. She was, he said, a legitimate triple threat who shined in all three capacities.
I love this video. Even-handed and respectful. My biggest issues is saying that the Hamptons are upstate lol. Everything north and west of NYC is upstate, but the Hamptons are on Long Island which is directly east, and most definitely not upstate. Just want your facts to be totally accurate lol :)

I have only one gripe, Hamptons aren’t upstate, they’re on the south fork at the east end of Long Island… so literally the most southward part geographically of New York state.

we dont know nothing about her private life. juste to give an example: maybe she is undergoing a treatment or whatever where she can not be vaccinated at the same time. also when you are undergoing treatment for artificial insemination - you have to interrupted the treatment, if you want to get vaccinated. i just want to remind that we dont know nothing about her private life and her reasons.

I agree with your comments. The health of others around you does, indeed, override other factors.
As all theatre normally involves many people to make a professional show happen, it does require that all of them to follow health and safety rules. It is the same in any job too, not just the famous.
It does depress me that she made this decision, when it involves a deadly virus. It worries how someone can skip over that fact and concentrate on some made up mumbo jumbo about the pandemic that has no basis in fact.
On a more general note, I try not to judge people according to their political views, but I know I do. And if it is a performer, it definitely taints how I see them. Even if they say they don't, I do kind of believe that in general conservative people tend to have a belief system that is usually racist and in many cases they tend to have homophobic views.

I miss the time where medical information and decisions are solely our rights, no one else (unless incompetent to do so). I am fully vaxxed myself, and I still respect the decisions of others. Leave Laura Osnes alone.
The "unless incompetent to do so" thing worries me here. Did you know that in the UK, autism/ASD isn't acknowledged as a condition someone may simply live with - you can be sectioned into a psych ward simply for HAVING it. Yes, one would imagine that some disturbed behaviour would have to come along with that action but my point is that being autistic/being on the ASD spectrum is a legal committable reason in the UK all on its own. Does that seem fair, that people who are neurodiverse (and of all varying abilities - this would literally include a fully functional billionaire CEO and/or a working mother of 3) should be easier to commit to forcible mental health care simply because they live with this condition, a condition that many consider a benefit rather than a drawback? And what about all the first nations people in North America that were sterilised, either forcibly, without their knowledge or after being given heavy misinformation, because of racism? It was decided that they didn't have the ability to make decent decisions about family planning, and that the way they lived wasn't conducive to a healthy, moral family life... but that wasn't true in any way. In Australia, white people used to invade indigenous communities and abduct any child that looked like it could be mixed race, so they could educate and care for them "properly" in Christian missions because their own communities were deemed inappropriate, dirty, stupid and immoral. They were not. Do you see why "unless incompetent to do so" struck a weird chord with me, especially in combination with the assertion that there was a time ""where medical information and decisions (were) solely our rights"? Because that was only ever the case for cis straight white men with money - if you were a person of colour, a woman, a child, gay, trans, living on the streets or neurodiverse in any way, (or any combination of the above) this is not a reality you lived with. And that continues to be the case, as demonstrated by the ASD example (and it's only one of many). Not trying to give you a hard time personally, not at all, just wanting to share my impressions with someone engaged in the conversation.

It is irresponsible to potentially endanger others by refusing to be vaccinated. Broadway has every right to include COVID vaccination as part of their CIVID protocols. I respect Broadway’s vaccine requirements along with requirements for audiences. Vaccines have shown to be critical in fighting the COVID Pandemic & safeguarding each other from contacting COVID. I personally have no respect for those refusing to be vaccinated.
Except you know the vaccine didn’t prevent people from getting Covid or even spreading it…clown.

I actually agree with you and believe I said during the video that vaccination shouldn't be a partisan issue, it's unfortunate that it has been politicised in the US and the uptake has been slower among republican voting counties.
I would suggest that division in this country (UK) arises because people disagree about the impact of government inaction on tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths.
You're completely wrong about that. Political affiliation is an indicator of whether or not someone is vaccinated. Especially at the time of this videos publication. That is just data, it's not dividing the country by acknowledging what is/was true.
