Good idea, as an older person I detest short form garbage. it is just... agrivating. I don't take issue with it it is just the I hate it, I don't care who love it as long as I can have my 7 hour lore on obsure RPGs you can have your 0.03 seond lore flash on RPGs.

Ok, South African here... Koeksisters can be eaten days or even weeks later (assuming they last that long). The trick is, the syrup needs to be ice cold and the koeksisters very hot when you dunk them, so they soak in a lot of syrup and become completely drenched. You can then keep them in the fridge or (in our house) the freezer. They don't fully freeze because of all the syrup, so they are very good eaten straight from the freezer.

David, I love koeksisters!! Literally my favorite treat to have around the holidays growing up in a South African household. The one suggestion I would have if you end up making them again, or to anyone else, is to have the bowl of syrup sit over some ice to keep it extra chilled, which will end up thickening the syrup. As far as your short form dilemma, I'd say to use some older videos and convert them, because it might help bring people in. That said, I can't help but agree that the long form videos are my preferred method of viewing

Also I loved your message in the beginning as I have the same feelings.

This is where I come after a massive brain rot session while scrolling through shorts for longer than I'd like to admit. And while the endless scrolling usually leaves me feeling numb, your long form content comes with a sense of regained control and genuinely enjoying what I'm watching.
It's great to watch you try making foods you're unfamiliar with - I think that aspect was really refreshing about this video. If you want to switch to also making shorts, I think a chunk of us might not watch them but have nothing against it, you'll likely bring in a new audience of people who like watching TH-cam shorts. I don't mind scrolling through TikTok when I'm just in the mood for eating what the algorithm feeds me, but when it comes to creators I really care about as individuals (like you!) and whose content I want to seek out (like yours!), long form is where it's at. I enjoy seeing your growth as a cook and a presenter, I enjoy seeing your family and friends and boyfriend, and I love seeing the more in-depth comparisons and discussion that you can go into in this longer format. Also quick thing with the Kunefe, maybe a bit sacriligeous but my favorite way to eat them is with some cream on the top and peach slices alongside the base. But there's so much variety to what you can do with the dish,
I used to wake up on saturday morning and have my cereals in front of your video of the week... Today it may not be the same routine but I still like to watch your videos. I like your videos because you always do what you want the way you want. Shorts are like a lifeless resume of another content fir most of the youtubers, and you're not like most of the youtubers. honestly i NEVER watch shorts, i have a browser extention to hide them lmao. i really dont like every platrorm tring to be tiktok. but people DO watch them and from the content making side i get why its great to do them. maybe you should have idk, a test run of a few shorts in different formats - maybe some with only results, or sped up cooking or trying the foood, etc
I do prefer long form content, but recently I've found a lot of new food/cooking creators through shorts. I think it's definitely something you should consider doing and something I encourage, as I've seen it be really effective just in my own experience as a viewer ^^ Something that may encourage people to watch the long versions could be if you end the short as you take a bite of the food but not show your reaction (some may be curious to come look for it), or have some slightly different commentary from your longer content/leave things out in the shorts that would make people want to watch the longer videos to know more. (Ie. ASMR type shorts could be fun to try, where you just don't have a voiceover in the video.) I've also noticed from my personal experience that some sort of humor seems to help with gaining views with shorts, I don't remember their names but there are two cooking creators I found and enjoyed due to the type of humor they expressed (and for one of them, it also continued in the comments). I think you just have to do a lot of experimenting to see what works for both youtube/views and for yourself, what style is the easiest for you to keep up with making, things like that. I'll keep watching these longer videos tho and hope all the best for you 😁
I personally prefer your longer videos. It’s not the how-to aspect of these videos that most appeal to me; it’s you having fun (and sometimes struggling) testing out these recipes.

I don't mind scrolling through TikTok when I'm just in the mood for eating what the algorithm feeds me, but when it comes to creators I really care about as individuals (like you!) and whose content I want to seek out (like yours!), long form is where it's at. I enjoy seeing your growth as a cook and a presenter, I enjoy seeing your family and friends and boyfriend, and I love seeing the more in-depth comparisons and discussion that you can go into in this longer format. Never leave TH-cam!

I used to wake up on saturday morning and have my cereals in front of your video of the week... Today it may not be the same routine but I still like to watch your videos. I like your videos because you always do what you want the way you want. Shorts are like a lifeless resume of another content fir most of the youtubers, and you're not like most of the youtubers. The little text at the beginning proves that.
In reply to your question personally I prefer long form content and love what you do. I don’t even bother with sorts I don’t see either the fascination or point of them but each to their own. Do whatever makes you happy (and hopefully gets you the views you deserve) I will keep enjoying it ❤

As for your question about shorts, maybe put a teaser for that weeks video as a short 🤷🏽♀️. I don’t watch shorts or have TikTok, I like long form videos as I watch them while working.
honestly i NEVER watch shorts, i have a browser extention to hide them lmao. i really dont like every platrorm tring to be tiktok. but people DO watch them and from the content making side i get why its great to do them. maybe you should have idk, a test run of a few shorts in different formats - maybe some with only results, or sped up cooking or trying the foood, etc

I’m with you on your opinion on the short videos, I’m so sick of them dominating my suggestions despite not watching them.
I do prefer long form content, but recently I've found a lot of new food/cooking creators through shorts. I think it's definitely something you should consider doing and something I encourage, as I've seen it be really effective just in my own experience as a viewer ^^
Something that may encourage people to watch the long versions could be if you end the short as you take a bite of the food but not show your reaction (some may be curious to come look for it), or have some slightly different commentary from your longer content/leave things out in the shorts that would make people want to watch the longer videos to know more. (Ie. ASMR type shorts could be fun to try, where you just don't have a voiceover in the video.)
I've also noticed from my personal experience that some sort of humor seems to help with gaining views with shorts, I don't remember their names but there are two cooking creators I found and enjoyed due to the type of humor they expressed (and for one of them, it also continued in the comments).
I think you just have to do a lot of experimenting to see what works for both youtube/views and for yourself, what style is the easiest for you to keep up with making, things like that. I'll keep watching these longer videos tho and hope all the best for you 😁
