    If you want to potato pancakes to retain some of the crisp, here’s a trick from their cousin the latke: shred the potatoes raw, strain/press to remove the water and starch and then cook it like you would if you had cooked and riced (mixed with your egg, flour, onion ect…) frying it raw helps it stay crispy and keep some integrity and it’ll still cook through!

    • @lancelindlelee7256
      @lancelindlelee7256 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Another option, if you want to use mashed potatoes for the creaminess. Coat the pancake with mased potato flakes. That should fry up really crisp. Simple potato starch may work as well.

    I'm definitely not an expert on white pepper, but I discovered that Penzey's Spices has two different kinds of white pepper, and they smell and taste very different. I greatly prefer their "Sarawak" white pepper, which has no barnyard smell at all, and is far superior to any white pepper I've ever found in a grocery store.
    Also, my favorite term for that kind of self-proclaimed moderate is "reactionary centrist." I believe the term was coined (or at least popularized) by Michael Hobbes, although he mostly uses it to describe the pundits who spent the last several years assuring us that Republicans weren't really going to overturn Roe vs. Wade et al.

    Having watched this the first time after only 7 comments had been left, it's hilarious to me how all the early comments were 'talk about the food not the politics, talk about the FOOD not the POLITICS!!' Glad that more people have had the bravery of their convictions to comment on the horrific decision made by SCOTUS.

    So I'm very curious about your filming process. Because I noticed that your thumb was injured during the tasting clips, but not the cooking clips (until the last recipe)
    Do you cook everything at once and then taste them one by one? If so, how do you keep everything at a good eating temperature?

    what better way to convince your audience into giving a thumbs up by destroying your thumb in the vid (LOVED this video, i hope you've recovered soon haha)

    I'm sorry but I needed to pause for a moment when you pulled potato flour from Poland. I don't even know why, but it took me by surprise (I'm from Poland). Anyway, I just had dinner but all those recapies made my salivate. Yum! Especially that chicken with Aligot. So simple, yet delicious looking.

    Now on to those potatoes…those all looked amazing! Mmm, potatoes. 🤤 I love samosas and would try these. I also agree with your assessment of the stuffed potato pancakes thought. Perhaps draining the meat and onion mixture would have helped. I wonder if “drying” the stuffed pancakes before frying them would have helped, even for an hour or so, kind of like what you do with gnocchi or other fresh pasta. Just a thought.

    PSA if you are feeling sad/depressed about the Supreme Court decision consider volunteering for getting unregistered voters registered to vote. There are so many hardworking volunteers working tirelessly and it feels good to join the effort.

    great job with the recipes. as a survival specialist just take a cotton ball smeared with a LOT of triple antibiotic ointment and pack the wound with it. Wrap it tight for 6 hrs then remove and replace then you're good to go after that. Also you ever thought about doing adult drink editions?

    Re: white pepper smells. According to BA, “white peppercorns can be poorly processed, meaning that they’re packaged before all of the water has evaporated. When that happens, they develop a slightly fermented, barnyard-y flavor, which only increases the longer they sit.”
    Also, fuck the patriarchy. Thanks for speaking up.

    • @YindiOfficial
      @YindiOfficial 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      its not always poorly processed, in some asian countries the fermentation is desired. i personally always liked that smell and when i've tried the non-fermented kind i was very disappointed in that it was too similar to black pepper.

      Make sure you're registered to vote in the midterms NOW. Most states have registration cut off this month! So don't wait! We can turn this around with a stronger majority in Congress than we have right now to codify this so it's no longer ever threatened

    A popular thing we do to save an ER trip for a small stitch is we super glue our cuts. I'm not sure how other people feel about it but I trust my mom and family members who are ER nurses and surgeons. Plus if it's small, it's a little silly(to me) to scoop out my wallet. A little bit of scarring won't ruin me.

      I tend to apply nailpaint to the small wound after disinfecting it. It's super quick and while I don't rec it for open wounds all that much, for small open wounds it's goddamn magic. It also is pretty easy to remove if you feel irritation later on (with acetone)
