140-170 feet is hardly undiveable. It's deep enough to be considered technical diving, requiring decompression and perhaps a three gas mix if being very cautious, but it's on the shallow end of technical diving and 140 feet is just beyond the recreational limit. I've been to 130 quite a few times and have no technical training whatsoever. Learning to go to 170, should I have the need, would not be too difficult.
