    Full disclosure: I used parts of my "sketch" takes (also 100% played on the Morph but not filmed because I was still composing the parts and improvising) so sometimes a note might not seem to sync up with what you're seeing / hearing. Just so you know that that's the reason :-)

    Just wanted to say thank you for continuing to make such great content. Probably a year or two ago I started watching some of the first quest for groove finger drumming videos you posted. They very quickly made me feel much more confident on the pads and I was having a lot more fun. Since then I've drifted away from regularly finger drumming but this video came up on my feed today and it was another great one! You obviously are a man of many talents and I appreciate all the hard work that I'm sure goes into these videos. You nailed that fun New Orleans Jazz sound IMO, keep it up!

    I have been working with samplers since the mid 80’s when i bought my Emulator 2 for a ridiculous amount of money...but I have never heard anything quite as realistic and controllable as this. I had to go check their website to assure myself that rhey weren’t incorporating samples in there somewhere, possibly on the attack at the very least. Hey, apparently not! This is amazing technology and the Sensel Morph is the perfect controller to make use of all the MPE parameters that make this come to life.👍

    • @TheQuestforGroove
      @TheQuestforGroove  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's crazy. Some people think it still sounds bad, but even if it's not 100% a 'real' trumpet I do feel a real response when I play as opposed to a midi keyboard. The thing feels alive and that's super inspiring.

    That's weird you had a problem with velocity when hitting multiple notes. I've never had that problem with the Morph. Mind you I haven't used the yellow overlay.

    • @TheQuestforGroove
      @TheQuestforGroove  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Specifically multiple notes with the same hand. As soon as you use two hands the problem is gone.

    • @mdoerkse
      @mdoerkse 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheQuestforGroove how could it tell if you are using one hand or two?! All it sees is points of pressure at different locations in the device.

    • @TheQuestforGroove
      @TheQuestforGroove  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I suspect its about the slight delay between hits. So with two hands, you'll think you hit at the exact same time but there will be a few milliseconds of difference which is inaudible. But, a maschine will be able to more accurately distinguish the two hits from each other that way. With one hand, two pressure points will get created at exactly the same time, which might sometimes confuse the unit. That's my theory :-)

  • @phosphore7991
    @phosphore7991 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Those horns sounds good (specially the bass part) Have you tried the joué? (a French controller similar to the sensel morph) You can place 2 grid of 4X4 check it good value for money but dunno how it works for finger drumming.

    Hi, Mr. Groove! Do you prefer the Sensel Morph more than the Roli Seaboard Block Studio Edition? I wonder which one is better to compose soundtracks.
    Regards from Brazil!

    • @TheQuestforGroove
      @TheQuestforGroove  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say they're both great for playing melodies. The morph has the advantage of swappable overlays so you can also use it for video editing and for drawing. The seaboard is nice because its squishy and you can actually press down on it. So it depends on what you think is important. You cannot really go wrong with either one.

    It sounds great. the samples are nice. I'm not sure the controller is any good. It's just any MPE controller would be as expressive, and hopefully have more feedback than the morph.

    • @TheQuestforGroove
      @TheQuestforGroove  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Linnstrument is better imho. And if you need some physical feedback the ROLI seaboard is probably by far the best.

    @johnhowardnardine6815 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    OK... That was AWESOME!!! What a fun and very musical jam!!! I think I'm becoming really close to sold on the Sensel Morph. Questions: is the 'production' overlay midi mappable (I think I'm asking a dumb question here; of course it must be?) and does it behave similar to a midi control unit, like the Korg NanoControl, for example? Second: can the Sensel be used as a trackpad to move a cursor and control things on the iPad? thus eliminating the need for an Apple bluetooth mouse or trackpad?

    • @TheQuestforGroove
      @TheQuestforGroove  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey John, you can confgure all the pads in the Sensel app so yes, that's possible. As for trackpad useage: It's not as straightforward as plugging it in and using it. I haven't figured it out to be honest, but maybe the folks fron Sensel can explain how to do it if you send them an email. It seems to be not the main purpose of the device.

      Well, I do have a suggested 4x3 layout in the begonner course so that wont be a problem. It depends a little on the pads. If theyre super unsensitive youll have a bad time but if theyre "ok" then you can vet started with it for sure!
