I am unfamiliar with Roku cameras. If they use standard IP protocols like other IP cameras, then yes. If they have a lockdown system with their own private app, then maybe not.
Hi Jake really enjoyed your video and I was wondering what is the model number of the Amcrest camera you used. I wish to order one and want to make sure I get one that works with the Roku IP camera viewer. I bought a Reolink E1Pro IP camera and no way can I get it to connnect with the Roku IP camera viewer. Hope you can help me with my connection problem. Thanks ED
I can confirm that Amcrest brand does work with this app and Roku. But almost any "IP" camera with ONVIF should also work. ONVIF is an industry-standard open-source system to improve compatibility among the security market. "IP" means it speak internet and connects via either WIFI or Ethernet and NOT the older cables like coaxial. It does not mean no hard drive or DVR. The Amcrest cameras have a slot for a memory chip to install on the side. SO no need for a hard drive or DVR if you want to record directly onto the camera and then look at that footage later from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.
I’d love to be able to tell you but my hands have never touched a Eufy branded camera! I’ve heard good things though! I don’t see why it would not work if it is an up camera. Anyone at @eufy please reach out to us!!
@@fixitwithjake from what eufy customer service told me is they do not offer it. I tried the IP CAMERA THING ON ROKU but it wouldn't connect to my camera 🥺
I have 3 fake Hikvision cameras that work great in IP Camera Viewer pro on my Roku. I am trying to set up a ESP32 cam, but it will not let me enter the correct settings. Entering IP and port 81 is not a problem but I also need /stream in the stream url. For some reason it will not accept /stream. Note that these cameras work in my Blue Iris security software and I can view them in a browser, so it is not the camera itself that is the problem.
I doubt it. Ring is very locked down and doesn’t let you use the video outside their app. I actually gave a few ring devices and their doorbell, it’s ehhhh, not that great.
It now appears that the basic version of this app has no audio. The PRO version may have it but it isn't clear if getting audio requires additional software or tweaks of a highly technical nature. Can you shed any light on this?
I did some research and can't find info on sound. It is a highly technical setup (hence why I made the video showing the exact settings that worked) so I wouldn't waste your time if you have issues with the free version. The app doesn't look supported well from the developer.
@@fixitwithjake Thanks for your video. Congratulations! You officially now have more info available than the app developer! Just curious if anyone has any news on whether sound works through IP Camera Viewer Pro. I was hoping that the Roku would stream live sound with the video. In other words, there's little point investing in new cameras with sound if I can't hear it through the Roku.
@@sewellfamily4306 I found the app developer info. Developed by: Ioan Ghip and he has more info and proven audio but looks pretty advanced. github.com/e1ioan/rokuphp/blob/master/README.md
hi Jake, great video, i am trying to hook up a camera for parents to view live their kids in a martial arts class on the other side of the wall. I want to stream the video live on a smart tv in the lobby so they can see the kids.
For something in your youth case, I would not use the Roku app. I would install a cheap camera and mount it to the ceiling in the room and then run a long 25 or 50 foot HDMI cable to a cheap TV in the waiting room. That will be super stable and not have any issues of dropping out. Either of these cameras would probably work for your situation. amzn.to/4a73sBk or amzn.to/3Gk7VD2
Yes, you certainly need a username and password. There is a default one that came with your camera. NEVER NEVER NEVER leave the default password. The easiest way for people to drive by your house and hack into a camera. The default username and password for Amcrest cameras are "admin" for both.
If your camera is already connected to the network and working. You can go inside your router app or web interface and try to find it there. Or if your camera is already set up you can go inside the software of the camera and find it there sometimes. Or if none of those work there’s usually a software app that comes with the camera called an IP config and with that software tool it will scan your entire network and list all the cameras connected to that. Let me know if you’re still stuck and I can send you a TH-cam video of someone doing this.
@saracormier3740 not likely with the app you seen this video. It’s made specifically for more IP generic security cameras that are not locked down with specific branded apps. But you can probably stream an extra iPad or android tablet to your Roku or TV if you want to do it that way.
Camera is closed internal network. Roku needs to at least be connected to the internal network but need not reach outside the house to the www I believe. All my cameras don't connect outside my house. Except I can log in via a secure VPN.
While the IP Camera app lists Reolink cameras as one they support, it does not seem to. Tried a number of times, editing some of the fields, never found it or connected to it. Using the built in browser on the TV and the local IP address and I could see the stream. Ip camera viewer has potential, but it definitely does not work with all cameras. Not going to buy new cameras right now just for this. May just cast to the TV from the phone or something. My idea was to have this near our river as a "portal" to view it -- thus the big screen. Ah well.
You download software for the camera brand that will search your network. For example support.amcrest.com/hc/en-us/articles/213227938-IP-Config-Software
Do you know IP camera Viewer Pro can cycle through different cameras automatically? Or know a good app that can? Worried about burn in I guess.
Does this work for wyze cameras?
I have not tried….
It seems like our cams go can through them and they could also be watching them?
Can I connect roku indoor cameras? That's used for home automation to the I p viewer pro app so I can view multiple cameras on one screen

Thanks - it was of great help. Any way to enable the microphone and hear sounds while on Roku (Amcrest ProHD)?
I've been trying but that is up to the App developer and they have not added that feature unfortunately :( Maybe it will show up one day :)

Hi Ed. I have 3 camera options in the description that work well. This is mine but a little cheaper is ok too. amzn.to/2ZAmpc0
Have a Reolink also. Very frustrating as one can see it on a TV browser, but not this app. Ah well.
Which cameras and or brands will work with roku devices? IP means the cameras that are wireless with no hard drive dvr boxes? Like ring?

I have Eversecu Wi-Fi cameras is there any way for me to still do this?

Thank you. Any chance this software has a listing for AXIS cameras?
I believe so! The app is free so just download and test it out!

Does camera have to connect to internet or can it be a closed system baby monitor
