This actually shows last years' winners and the main character was "Deft" he is know to have been in the same school as Faker (the most succesful League Player ever) but never could beat him.
In 2022 Deft faced Faker again in the World's finals and finally won. That's why they dedicated this to him and painted him as the underdog. They started in school and them you can see Deft going through several losses with different teams and even has to face old team mates to win.
(Spoiler: In 2023 Faker won the Worlds Finals for the 4th time in his career)
