Beautiful flight of a beautiful jet. I wouldn't feel comfortable with that big bird, then there is our grass field that would make for it's other problem. Merry Christmas and Happy Landings.
Adam, I have the Viper and I didn't jump on the wagon the way most people did. I am not a sport jet person and until the Viper I haven't owned one. That being said there were complaints about stall issues with the viper on final legs and flaps down and I think the real issue was the AS3X was masking the issue until it was to late and people were burning them in. The plane has a ridiculous glide slope and slow flying characteristics so I can see where folks could get into trouble. I couldn't agree more as far as your assessment with the flying and envelope of slow and high speed as well as its just an incredible jet to fly. I love mine and I can see myself with a larger version either turbine converted Skymaster or perhaps the Blackhorse at some point.
Hi David, I did jump on the wagon with the viper 90 and have never looked back.127 mph with two 3300 packs. and the vertical with a light 5000 50c pack WOW. As far as slow flying characteristics.....You don't buy a corvette to see how slow it will go!
David it really impressed me, and that's with someone else's set up. That say's a lot. The stall issues you are talking about happen with a lot of planes with a gyro. I haven't seen that as much with EDF's because the gains have to be so low to prevent oscillation at speed. That said...that is why I stall test. If you know when and how it breaks you can avoid it. So what's up with your F-14? Maiden yet? I'm looking forward to seeing that one!
Adam, Well done... The viper is a super sexy EDF.. Nice flying her around.. That slow/low over the runway appeared to be about a click or two of throttle away from scraping the flaps along the runway.. 🙂. That plane sure does well in Knife edge too..
Thanks Will. Yeah that was not as smooth as I would have liked. If it were me setting it up the flap to elevator mix would be a bit different, and that would make the difference.
Adam. I have the smaller viper Eflite 70mm Viper which is no slouch in itself. But, I admit-that 90mm is bad to the bone. I seen a fella fly the 90mm at Bigfoot event in Birmingham at night like he stole it. Just awesome what it can do. I have it on the radar but i got so much going on now with RC it would have to be an offer I can’t refuse to get one soon. Hahaha. Well done with your presentation and flight my friend. 👍👍🎄
Nice mini review Adam of the fantastic Viper Jet, that thing flies and sounds amazing!! No disrespect to your friend, but I think Heidi's filming is of the same very high standard, which is a compliment to both of their skills as videographers!! Top job all around 😀👍
Adam, Well done!! I seen the Viper 90mm at Bigfoot event in Birmingham at night. The dude flew it to its max envelope and I was totally impressed how it performed. It was the best by far flight of a EDF I have ever seen. Perhaps someday there will be better however it is the best I have seen from HH. again great job on your video.
Like very much, always Mr. AV8R. And coming off hours on my trusty sporty Eflight Commander 1400mm mPd I'm all in with the Viper 90mm brother! At 3:12 -- BINGO! Nicely done. Update Note: I enjoy flying my Avanti S Red 80mm (I've upgraded the ESC to a 130A Spektrum SMART - SPMXAE1130A) than my Viper 90.
Awesome, awesome mini-review my friend! I always like to hear you talk and compare these models against a similar aircraft; like item to like item, so to speak. Great job on the flight, but then I expect nothing less than excellence in the air! All the best to you Adam, Heidi, Piper, and all your loyal viewers 😎🎄🎅
I knew I should've got the 90 instead of the 70 😢 Nice flight brother, she was smooth and fast. You can flu the heck out of those jets man, one day I hope to get there. 👍 Keep up the great work and I enjoy the content of the channel.
Great Video and very awesome. Glad you had the chance to fly and video your flight.. It seems to be a very popular plane, we now have at least 5 in our club.. My buddy really seems to be enjoying it, lot better then the F16 80mm. I know you like the Avanti I have heard the Viper 90 is faster. I just wish you could get more flight times out of these larger EDFS.
I really think I've either owned or flown at least 90% of all 80mm EDF"s out there. I truly cannot find any EDF out there ("STOCK") that flies anywhere close to that Eflite Viper! I love my Freewing EDF"s 80"s and 90"s but that Viper just makes even me, look like I know what I'm doing!
It is a cool jet Jake, but I'm with you. A new 5.0 Ford Mustang will never be as cool as a 65' Stang, and a F-22 Raptor will never be as cool as a P-51. Not to me anyway. That said...if it has wings, good chance I like it!
Hi Adam, somewhere on your videos I saw briefly your advice on setting up reverse thrust, think it was on the viper 90. Could you point me towards your segment or the best video, thanks. Bob 🇬🇧.
Good Video mate, and i agree, it's a very good sport jet, and if you want the spectrum telemetry and the thrust reverse it's the way to go...still personally I chose the other jet you mentioned over the Viper90, mostly because of its price, and the long term availability of spare parts that the competitor provides for its models and that I think is a bit of a novelty in this field, I had friends at my club that went into the online shop and baught parts for there 6-7 year old plane no problem... and I consider that a big advantage over the way Horizon usually works...cheers
Thanks man! There are a lot of great sport Jets out there for sure. Something for everybody I suppose. I have to admit...the Viper impressed me, and that was with an unfamiliar set up. Makes me wonder how good I could make it if I set it up for me.
@WarbirdFan66 yeh I have both. I don't really rate the avanti but I do love the futura v2 and v3. Just wasn't sure which 80mm he was "specifically" comparing the viper to.
The Avanti is the jet I was comparing it to. It's a dead heat. Pretty even performance wise. Its a matter of looks really...whichever one you think looks the best is the winner!
The Viper 90 is a great jet no doubt about it. But there is no comparaison with the 80 mm you talked about. It’s 250 bucks more, more than enough to get a decent receiver with as3x. And regarding flight enveloppe the 80mm has amazing top speed, and can do wicked snaps and all kind of crazy stuff. It’s one jet that will be very difficult to come over. Off course there is a justification why the viper is more expensive: bigger EDF, better servos and components, telemetry, quality control, HH support, etc. So maybe as you said in the conclusion, if you are less experienced the viper should be your pick. Or you just want less hassle as possible. Also It would be interesting to know how the viper 90 handles grass, that’s where most jets have hard time. Especially the front gear.
I dunno Mike, I think they very much compare performance wise. Very similar flight envelope, and if that Viper was mine I'd change a few things set up wise and be more aggressive with it. It will do anything the Avanti will do, the difference you see video to video with me flying is set up differences and the fact that I flew the 90 a few times and I have 200 flights on my Avanti. The 90 has the same type of trailing link suspension, so I would think it would do okay on grass.
Great flying Adam. I have enjoyed your videos and reviews. I appreciate your bearing and obvious knowledge of the subject matter. Prior military by chance? Anyway, I am desperately trying to decide between this awesome 90mm Viper and the Elfite twin 64 mm A-10. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks! Dale, retired US Army Master Aviator.
Hello Dale! Thanks for the kind words and thanks for your service to our country! No, I wasn't in the military, however, that discipline has been a part of my life for all of it. My father was an Iwo Jima Marine, and my brother flew A-4 Skyhawks for the Marine Corps. Needless to say, shooting straight and being patriotic is in my blood. Man Dale, that is a tough question. They are so different. Sport jet vs scale jet. I have flown both, but if I had to pick from these particular two it would be the Viper. It is smoother, more capable. That said the bigger A-10's like the Freewing twin 80mm (best flying one out there in foam, but big and expensive) and the FMS twin 70mm fly so much better than the smaller twin 64mm. Don't get me wrong, the 64mm is much improved with the AS3X and now on 6s, but bigger really does fly better. The Viper is a big sport jet, and that is one of the reasons it is SO good and outclasses the competition in the sport jet category. If you want a scale jet, the FMS 70mm A-10 can be bought at Horizon, and it is a good compromise of size, price, and ability.
No, not as a beginners plane. As a first time EDF, maybe. Depends on the person. For a newer, more timid pilot a Habu SS 70mm would be better. For a more accomplished pilot with some responsive airplane aerobatic experience this would be fine.
That sound!!! The inverted flying was awesome!
Maidened mine today, zero trim required, flew like it was on rails, excellent EDF
Yes it is. One of the best on the market.
Bonito vuelo!
You looked as a happy kid at the end!
I was! Thanks man.
great flight...that big smile says a lot 🙂 have a great Christmas 🌲
Thanks man! It definitely put a smile on my face. Merry Christmas.
Just amazing. No words needed, thanks for the review+ flight
Thank you!
Nice EDF, and flight video 😎!
Thanks Mark!
Orsum flight Adam, really smooth scale flying.Possibly a-bit fast for me 😎 Have a great week 🫡
Thanks Chris you too!
Beautiful flight of a beautiful jet. I wouldn't feel comfortable with that big bird, then there is our grass field that would make for it's other problem. Merry Christmas and Happy Landings.
Thanks! It has pretty big tires and trialing link suspension, should do well off grass I would think. Merry Christmas!
Lovely flight. That jet both looks and sound the business.

A tip on using the reverse thrust with the Viper 90 -- FULL down-elevator. In contrast to FULL up-elevator on tail draggers.

@AbbyRCToys No, Habu is a good first jet. An E-flite Apprentice or Aeroscout would be a great first ever airplane.
