    So much can be said for my admiration. From his roots in The Bronx, to how his fashion empire started, to his philanthropy work, to being the first American fashion designer to receive an honorary knighthood.

    Ralph Lauren was the first to use black models in major ads.

    I have been a RL customer for years now. I used to do all shopping online. Then couple of years ago, I gifted my husband a gift card for his birthday to buy something from the brand. We decided to go to their flagship store in Bond Street to enjoy the store experience. It was impeccable! The SA we were given was so nice with us and friendly. They offered us champagne, something I haven't received when shopping at LV so far! Their clothes are for those who are looking to look stylish and put together, spending more but for great looks and quality. Their items are still in good conditions in our wardrobes 💙

    💙 I have been attempting to clean up and make a better dressed capsule (I always have been a capsule wardrobe type, buying key items the nicest I could afford or “coolest” things and keeping a limited closet), but I can’t say I’m not eyeing some RL items. It’s immensely impressive how he’s consistently had a vision for so long and stuck to it.

    I’m anti-fashion, too, but pro-personal style. I love timeless, elegant classics, I always have, that’s why I love RL.

    I have a few 40-year+ old items in my wardrobe and one is a RL jacket. It looks as fresh today as it ever did. The others are a good cognac braided leather belt and my beautiful Dior long wool coat. I wore this coat every cold day of my whole career and it still looks stylish, elegant and brand-new. This is what classics give us, timelessness, longevity and elegance. The Quiet Luxury look has always been my taste, we just called it “quiet, classic good taste” back in the day. Only premium, natural-fiber fabrics and materials, of course. RL has let us down in this one respect, too much plastic in his recent offerings. Instead of trying to compete with fast-fashion pricing, he should stick to the high-quality items he does best, we’ll pay for that quality, it’s worth it.

    Something cool about RL is similar to Champion, there are options at a bunch of different price points. There is an offshoot of the brand carried at Walmart in Canada, there’s the department store line and then the higher end line. I’m always impressed with my purchases from RL

    💙 Great video as always! After watching it, I went to the brand’s website to see their products because I had the urge to buy things from them. It’s fantastic that Ralph Lauren makes items of great quality for a relatively affordable price, definitely compared to other companies. I am also interested in Dior, could you please make a video on that brand?

    I used to love Ralph Lauren and have been shopping this brand since about 1980. I still love the classic, preppy aesthetic but this brand has been steadily cheapening its fabric quality since about 2000, by using more and more plastics (synthetic fibers) instead of natural ones. I just don’t buy clothes or accessories made of plastics, even in blends, I can’t tolerate them because of skin allergies and overheating. The prices are quite high for the mediocre quality of many of the current items. I didn’t mind paying more when the quality was excellent, as in the 80s and 90s, but it isn’t anymore. I still find the occasional gem there, like the navy 100% linen shirtdress I just got. I just ordered a 100% cotton cricket sweater from there yesterday. The $300 price tag for each of these items is high, but at least it’s great quality and super wearable. My personal style has always been quiet and classic, and yes, luxury, which many natural fibers are nowadays. It might be a trend now, but there are many of us, of all ages, who prefer high-quality classics because of their timelessness, versatility and staying power. Plus, classic styles and cuts became classics, which means first in their category or class, because they always look good on the majority of women. Some of my best wardrobe items are 40 years old and still look great, like my Dior coat, so why buy new?

    Now, let us hold a minute of admiration for the real RL makers: the sweatshop workers in China and Sri Lanka who are paid pennies while creating "impeccable" clothes. Let us remember all the victims of Rana Plaza (many of them died while making RL pieces).

      What happened at Rana Plaza?

    • @jvnd2785
      @jvnd2785 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@clairewillow6475, collapse of Rana Plaza was a structural failure that occurred on 24 April 2013 in the Savar Upazila of Dhaka District, Bangladesh, where an eight-storey commercial building called Rana Plaza collapsed. The search for the dead ended on 13 May 2013 with a death toll of 1,134. Many people burned alive, unable to get out of the building. Approximately 2,500 injured people were rescued from the building. It is the deadliest accidental structural failure in modern human history, as well as the deadliest garment-factory disaster in history and the deadliest industrial accident in the history of Bangladesh.
      This is not a one-off accident either. Deaths, severe burns and awful injuries happen on a weekly basis across the sweatshops.

    • @jvnd2785
      @jvnd2785 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is the REAL cost of fashion- no matter the price tag. Be it Zara, Ralph Lauren or Edinburgh Woollen Mill- bags of clothing of these and many other fashion houses were found in the debris of Rana Plaza.

    • @clairewillow6475
      @clairewillow6475 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jvnd2785 wow that’s so sad. They should have had proper inspections done to avoid such a tragedy:(

    • @jvnd2785
      @jvnd2785 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@clairewillow6475, I think you misunderstand the point: this is not about having proper inspections done. Rana Plaza tragedy just exposed to the world the ugly truth about the practices in the fashion industry. There are millions of women and children exploited every single day, living in destitute and being enslaved by the fashion brands. They work 14-16 hours per day in horrible conditions and often are not paid for their work at all. And when they are paid, it's way below the minimum wages in their countries. They are often abused at the workplace and have zero rights. We cannot go on like this. It's not about saying "sorry that this happened". It's about ceasing to shop the brands that exploit people. Have that dress or a coat made by your local seamstress at a fair price (or learn how to make clothes). Want a pair of leather shoes? Hire the services of a local shoemaker. It's going to be costly. That's because clothes and shoes ARE supposed to be costly- the work involved should be valued.

    “Beige pandemic” 😂 I knew this quiet luxury thing isn’t going to last. People will get bored with basic pieces in neutral colors for luxury prices. Nothing is “timeless” in fashion.

    In a way fashion has nothing to do with fashion. Art has nothing to do with art. Its marketing and nothing more that makes it great. That little polo pony sold a hell of a lot of shirts.
